HD300 static burst
by kerosene on 2012-08-11 00:47:10

Hey,

When I'm using the HD300 to record (really it's only use for me) I get a rather painfull burst of static through the headphones every few minutes. Is this a known issue? Does anyone know what can be done to remedy this?

Thnx

K

Sounds like a problem with the plug on your headphones.  No similar problem on my end.

If you run the Monkey do you have green ticks for everything?

As suggested, run L6 Monkey and make sure the HD's firmware is up to date.

I can recall a firmware issue a while back that had similar symptoms to what you have said.

If you mean the jack on the phones themselves, I would have to answer no, as there is no similar problem with my LiveX3

Just to be certain I reinstalled the latest firmware and tried out the unit. My ears are practically bleeding from the static blast I got about 10 minutes into using it. I also noticed that instead of a green check on the flash memory I have a grey question mark and when I highlight that selection the monkey tells me the unit has to be connected via usb. Of course it already is. This unit is rapidly becoming more trouble than it's worth.

A question mark for falsh mem is a problem.

Do the burst happen if the unit is not connected to a computer?

Here is a USB troubleshooting guide.

Hey Triryche,

I took your advice and contacted Line6. Got the new unit today Hopefully it will work better than the last one. Their response to the problem was, "We'll replace the unit. It's not supposed to do that."

so the only question I have now, is do I have to de-register the old one and register the new, or do I just leave it as is?

Thanks for the help.

I would remove the old one from your account and definitely register the new.

Hope this one works for you!!
