Use the adapter to plug the 1/4" headphone out on the S4-30 to the 1/8" mic-in or aux-in on your laptop.  Go into the Windows sound panel and make sure that the mic/aux input isn't muted.  Windows 7 tends to mute it by default.  Then record from your sound card into Audacity.  I really can't tell you any more than that, since I don't use that particular method or software.  I'm sure that if you mess around with it for a bit, you'll eventually start getting results.  Good luck

Note the quality of sound you get from the analog-to-digital converter in your laptop may be less than ideal.  For best sound quality an external (USB or Firewire) audio interface will provide superior results.

I'm not sure if the Spider IV 30 headphone output is true stereo, but if it is note that you will need a stereo-to-mono adapter in the signal chain suggested by BigChas52 above, or you will only get 1 channel - this would only affect stereo FX like chorus, flange and delay/reverb.

The information above may not be current, and you should direct questions to the current forum or review the manual.
