PC compatible software capable of sending MIDI CC information?
by bmoyer on 2012-10-31 11:16:34

So, I have updated my DT25 112 firmware to 2.0.  So far, so good.  One reason to do so was to get enhaned capabilities for designing my own 8 voicings (four each for Channels A & B).  If you don't have an iPhone or iPad (that would be me), then Line6 says you can send the appropriate CC information via PC or Mac compatible software.  I am not familiar with MIDI software, nor how to do this.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?  Hopefully someone who has done this with their amp?

Thanks!

Try Midiox. it sends midicommands but is very basic.

Thank you! - I'll give it a go.  Now I need to see if Line6 offers intructions on how to send and save.

lots of links to the midi guides etc you'll need here: http://line6.com/dtv2update/

butline6 won't help beyond that really...

i've done what you're trying to do with midi ox... kind of sux... the touchosc stuff is far easier...

fortunately the settings are sticky... so just go slow and do one thing at a time and you'll get it done.

of course other more familiar users can create files that will have settings for their DT50 that can easily be sent...

but that would only give you their setup, not help you make yours....

But it seems the touchosc stuff is strictly Apple "i" software, no?

yeah... I haven't found anything like it on windows... and even if i did, you'd still have a blank slate, having to learn all the midi stuff, because there are no pre-existing templates for the DT amps on any other software...

sorry... not the answer i want either.... fortunately i had an ipod touch and an ipad so i was able to use that.

What is the absolute easiest midi software available for total idiots like me? I downloaded Midi-ox and can't make or or tails of it. The help section is a foreign language to me. I can't even play with it to learn 'cuz I don't even know where to start! Will I screw things up if I do something wrong while playing?

after you setup your midi interface, pull down the view menu, select sysex

you'll have a command window... type in the midi message you want to send using the midi guides etc...

then pull down file and send.

you can copy and paste that code for others...

save it as a sysx file etc...

it aint pretty, and i'm far from an expert on midi....

but it worked for me...

i'd look for a cheap ipod touch, and a midi mobilizer your life will be much easier.

Thank you! I have an iPhone and an iPad (well, both belong to my wife and I ain't gettin' my hands much on the iPad!!  LOL!!). I'm asking Santa for the Midi Mobilizer II (is there a big difference between I & II that justifies the big price difference?), but I'm anxious and wanted to play around a bit. It all looks so awesome!

Thanks for all this help for us MIDI newbies.  One other question:  Once these commands have been sent to the amp, how are they saved?  Or is the fact that they were sent means the amp channel and topology for that set of commands is automatically changed for good?

changes sent are sticky... unless you change them again they are remembered... you can reset the amp to defaults at any time though... by pinching the topo/triode switches together while powering on.

the difference between midi mobilizer I and II to my knowledge is support for "core midi" or basically apples version of midi... i went for II just for future and other uses, but i think I would work for this (i've not tried it... but the DT midi stuff is not apple specific)

you'd really only need to borrow the ipad/iphone/ipod for a few hours to dial in your changes though...

(and BUY the touchosc app think its 2.99 or 4.99) transfer the templates...

then punch some touchscreen buttons and that's it.

it's not likely that you'd be using it a whole lot... just occasionally to tweak or change up.

Thanks! I can use the phone all I want, so no problem there. I bought the TouchOSC app already for the phone ($4.99). Think I'll just go for the MIDI Mobilizer II as well - and for the same reasons.

This is an amazing update for DTxx owners but I'm slightly dumbfounded that they haven't developed their own software in the vein of HD Edit in order for owners to access all these added features. I'm sure it wont take somebody too long to develop their own or to find a way to use existing software without having to purchase a midi mobilizer or delve into the black arts of learning midi codes.

you might try this: http://hexler.net/docs/touchosc-configuration-connections-bridge

soundslike it could work... still need touchosc and an apple device...

but seems like it would work without buying the midi mobilizer by remotely using the interface on your computer.

It sucks to be old .. I downloaded the Firmware update for DT25 and now my am sounds like shit and I'm lost!  LOL

Old's not so bad.  61 here.  Try opening Monkey again and updates, etc. and you probably will see a button to roll back to 1.0.  That worked for me.  I had updated to 2.0 and had no sound at all (that was when I downloaded the update from Monkey).  I rolled back to 1.0, had my sound back and then downloaded the 2.0 file from the Line6 site (not from Monkey), and then updated from that file instead of thru Monkey and 2.0 works!
