Hi meambobbo,

Why did you inserted a FX LOOP block in your Black Album patch?????

Thanks and cheers!

Used the converter (can't find the thread...search sux!) to change the setlist to HD Pro.  Very, very good tones, meambobbo.  Every time I think I might sell my HD because I prefer my old Fenders, live, you come along with something that gets me interested again.  Curse you!

Just curious...what do you make your patches for, mostly?  Recording (usb, xlr to audio interface, S/PDIF)?  Live?

I realize you may not see this for a while, what with having a new family member and all!

Thx!

effects between the amp and mixer on one channel for a dual amp patch are done to add latency to that channel.  this helps sync the audio between channels A and B when using different cab/mic choices for each channel.

for FX Loop I just use a patch cable between send and receive.

i mainly use them for jamming at home but eventually want to get around to recording.  I mainly monitor through my M-Audio BX8 monitors, but also some sennheiser hd 280 pro headphones.  i pretty much never use a real amp/cab anymore.  I already sold my mesa power amp and will soon sell my spider valve.

I plan to enter Mayonesse contest this weekend using some of your tones ... wish me luck ...I used yours as a base and tweaked them to my speaker setup.

I would like to sell my Spider Valve MKII and Matching 4x12 cabb and MKII foot controller and PODHD and in its place get a HD500 DT25 4x12 cab setup but I for now I love the HD Bean with the MKII controller.

I just tried the Randy Rhoads patch. Sounds great. Would you mind if I tweaked it for my HD500/DT50 setup and uploaded it?

Re: Merry Xmas 2012 - Latest Patches Uploaded

of course not...in fact that's encouraged.  i'm never wanted to put myself in a position of authority, and i never intended for my patches to work perfectly unaltered given everyone's diverging playing styles, guitar setup choices, woods, pickups, rig setup/monitoring, and extra-Pod gear.  many of "my" patches actually came to fruition due to seeing how other people dialed in the same tones.

but if you would be so kind as to change the patch name, that'd be helpful.  I used the last 4 digits as MMDD, but now that I've crossed the 2012/2013 barrier, that's not working as well, so I've just been incrementing my patches by +1 whenever I make a change.

you can completely abandon my naming convention if you like.

Hereya go amigo.

Vai: Ultra Zone, Story of Light, Whammy Pedal/Octaver

Dont remember which wah patch I used but I added phase to front and flange to end and tube compressor ..to add a bit of color to it =)

The back ground muted pedaling riff was my own patch.

no prob - also one of my faves.  you should also check out the periphery lead patch.  it's more of a presence focused and hollow sounding lead.  as is, it might be too thin for your tastes, but it's easy to thicken up.  it's a similar tone, but it's different, and sometimes you gotta mix it up.

Re: Merry Xmas 2012 - Latest Patches Uploaded
by Apologist on 2013-01-16 21:32:14

I like taking thin leads and doubling it up ..nudging .. and panning a riff from one side to another like Brian May does in studio ... one take for certain passages thickened a bit by doubling to make other phrases stand out ... but Im sure you get the idea =)

Re: Merry Xmas 2012 - Latest Patches Uploaded

Couple updates: first I changed my pickups from the Steve's special/air norton combo stock on older petrucci models to the current crunch lab/liquifire combo. This has far less bass, so I've been compensating my patches accordingly to fatten them up. If the posted patches are a little thin, add some bass/lower mids before the amp.

Second, the treadplate cab/57 on axis + greenbacks/121 ribbon combo I like to use I had an fx loop on channel b to get phase correction. This is wrong. Turn off the loop and boost channel a volume (treadplate) a little. The tone will have much less mids and not sound like there's an echo in the room.

Re: Merry Xmas 2012 - Latest Patches Uploaded
by meambobbo on 2013-01-17 09:17:34

I meant much MORE mids

Re: Merry Xmas 2012 - Latest Patches Uploaded
by Apologist on 2013-01-20 06:48:00

This almost made it too low mids for me ... I had to adjust cab low cut a bit which is my favorite quick fix for eq these days since its already there and I dont want to add too much strain on memory limits.
