G30 vs G50 in terms of AD/DA
by emreyazgin on 2013-01-01 10:22:11

Hi there,

Do these two units have different analog to digital converters? Is that the reason why one of them has a slightly more noise floor? Has anyone compared the two products in terms of sound quality? Apart from noise (which is not an issue given that even quitest tube amp will have much more higher noise floor), do two units have different "feel" in terms of sound, response to the instrument, dynamics etc?

Regards,

Emre

No.  The G50 gives you a bit more transmit distance, a higher quality housing for the transmitter pack, more virtual guitar cable options, and more channels.  I have found the sound quality itself to be the same.

So, my guess is, if you are playing in small clubs and stages, and you\re the only one wireless in the band and not fussy about plastic casing, G50 or G90 has no significant improvement over G30 in terms of sound quality. Right? I am excluding the extra features like cable emulations etc from the equation..

Correct.  I have the G50 though, and I DO like how sturdy the housing for the TBP12 is.  Built like a tank!
