Anybody that use JTV for slide work?
by Nipp on 2013-02-16 19:43:00

One thing that I would use and find really useful, if buying one, is open tuning and slide bar work - not having to re-tune.

Is tracking good enough for that use?

Is JTV working differently in normal tuning(but modelling still) or doing open tunings, so that would affect how it acts on slide work?

Or is Variax doing pitch-shifting the same way - in either case?

Thanks.

I use it for slide work, and it does a really good job. The only thing you have to watch for a bit in open tuning is issues with the natural sympathetic resonances through the bridge (there's a number of threads regarding this), but it can mostly be controlled with proper muting technique and isn't bad enough to reject it's use for slide playing.
