Variax 700 calibration question
by guitarguyucf on 2013-02-18 20:25:46

Hey guys, so a few months ago I bought a variax 700 and the model selector was not working correctly. I bought a new model selector knob hoping that would fix the issue but it has not. I tried calibrating the guitar but it will not calibrate using the method on the site...any suggestions? custom 1 through special work great, but the calibration gets stuck between chime/semi and then it kicks in again, however custom 2 does not work.

After playing around with it more, it seems the knob gets stuck between r-billy and chime, then once semi hits it works going down (except down one model) so where custom 2 is is reso...

also I took of the model selector knob, and the metal tab with the ball on the end which dictates which spot the selector is on looks warped...is there a part number for that? The "authorized shop" I go to does not do a very good job at all

thanks for the reply. I tried the splitting the difference thing first then the calibration, but nothing seems to work. Not getting any sort of beep sequence period.

Im pretty sure its the indented washers on the model selector knob that are what is causing the issue. I took of the knob and the washer that controls the placement of the model seems bent. Is there a part number I can use to order  that part?
