Can I use my Marshall's gain with 4CM method?
by jeffreywalsh on 2013-03-02 23:19:12

Just set up my HD500 with the 4CM through my Marshall's FX loop andI believe I have set everything correctly, but I would love to keep utilizing the gain channels too, if possible..can I have my cake and eat it too? I love the sound of my Marshall, perhaps I need to go through all the presets and tweek each one to get the most out of them...maybe the eq's are the issue...hmmm. Anyone using the HD500 AND their amp's own gain ? I have only had my POD two days, so maybe my concern is a bit premature...thanks.

Are you sure you have set your 4CM properly?   If you have then the amps gain/treble/mid/bass/vol should all work but the same knobs on the POD will not.

If you are connecting your POD direct to the FX Loop then you cannot use your amps control.  A couple of docs in case there is confusion ... this one explains the 4CM concept and this one explains how to set it up specifically.

Oops, I deleted the other answers, and for the people following this I apologize...but I did place an FX block in and that solved my issues...now the Amp functions normally...thank you. I will now deal with the levels and start building my own patches. Cheers!
