POD HD 500, Bank pedals not responding
by fgiuliodori on 2013-03-07 12:59:51

Hi all!...

I have a brand new POD HD 500 and have a little big problem:

Setting up ABCD mode for FS mode, the up/down bank pedals dont respond.

I've reading Line6 forums, and in many post they recomend "unit reflash"...

I've done it, but these pedals still don't work.

I've enter to "test mode", and all FS changes from 00 to 11 when pressed, but UP and DOWN pedals.

Is it a hardware failure or can i fix it by doing a flash "downgrade"?....

In some ocations these pedales worked, but then, unexpectily stop working... The only thing i've done is plug the HD500 to my laptop to use HD500 Edit and transfer data between both, HD500 and Laptop

I'll preaciate any help from you guys!!!

Thanks!

If Test Mode shows that these pedals are not working properly then it is a hardware failure. Your device needs to be serviced.

Hi Silverhead... Thanks for your time.

Do you know if is there any kind of "factory defect" for a certain group of HD500?, i am asking because i have seen many posts over this issue.

There is no factory defect that I am aware of for this issue. I have not seen many posts about it - but I'm not saying that you haven't seen them.

If you want to plead your case you should contact Line 6 directly. Either open a support ticket or use the Contact Us button below.

I have had a similiar issue with my POD HD for over a year.  However, mine is sporadic and does not happen every time.  About once or twice a week my bank pedals do not work for some period of time.  I have run the test as well and it shows that the switches are not working.  However, if I re-power or even run Line6 Edit they will often come back to life.

At first I thought that the switches were probably going bad but now I have a different oppinion.  I think that the switches drive the processor internal to the HD and either the connections to the processor are flaky or a part between the switch and processor are not always functioning due to cold/heat ect.

I cannot say wether you have some bad hardware or not but this is another point of information for you.

I am starting to develop some unreliability with my FS5 at present and also my bank-down button 'double-clicking'  when I press it.  Sometimes these things can just relate to dirty contacts within the switches.  Eventually dust and gak work their way into the floor-processors and cause problems.  I am finally starting to think that wisdom lies in having a brain (Pod Pro) and floor-control (Midi controller or Floorboard) so that I can just replace the floor bit when it inevitably croaks.

My warranty went adios a while back so I may try to clean the switches myself, see the thread here -->http://line6.com/support/thread/85461">http://line6.com/support/thread/85461">http://line6.com/support/thread/85461 .  Not recommended if you are still in warranty though.

The final option is to replace the switches outright ... http://line6.com/support/message/378293#378293">http://line6.com/support/message/378293#378293">http://line6.com/support/message/378293#378293 but this is more involved.
