Reason for Guitarists Like You've Never Seen Before
As a guitarist and a Reason user, I am a huge fan of producing guitar tracks with Reason. Recently, I saw a video that demonstrated this in a way that blew me away, and I wanted to share it with you. Watch as guitar pro Jared Meeker walks you through recording, multi-tracking, soloing, and generally wailing on his custom Reason guitar tones, controlled by Line 6 FBV Shortboard™ MkII.
Want to try these tones yourself? Jared has provided every patch he shows in the video's 4 songs, plus Propellerhead decided to add a few of their own favorites from James Bernard, Mattias Häggström Gerdt, Ryan Harlin, and Gary Bromham, to create the free "Strum and Thumb" mini ReFill! Download it here.
But wait, there's more...
Just thinking of getting into computer recording? Did you know that for a price too low to print, Reason Essentials gives you unlimited audio tracks, unlimited virtual instrument tracks, plus Line 6 amp models in an easy-to-use software made for recording your ideas fast? I recently made the following video, and I really enjoyed producing the guitar tracks using Reason Essentials. In fact, all the audio in the video (including the voiceover) is a single Reason Essentials project. I recorded all the electric guitars by plugging directly into the instrument input of my Propellerhead Balance audio interface, using the Line 6 amp tones that come standard with Reason Essentials. Check it out!
Getting a Little Deeper
Sure, you can use the great sounding presets and get a totally professional recording that way, but if you want to go deeper - you can do that too! In the next video, Propellerhead's product specialist Mattias Häggström Gerdt shows you how to build a great sounding custom guitar amp set-up in Reason. I picked up some cool ideas watching this:
Finally, Propellerhead's product specialist James Bernard follows up Mattias's guitar amp combinator video by showing you how to build a great sounding custom bass amp combinator in Reason. Again, I thought I knew everything, but James showed me something new!
