I have the Express unit sending audio via a regular patch cable to the unbalanced input on a powered PA speaker (JBL EON15 G2). The data connection is a USB-C to USB-A cable into a hub that goes into a USB-C port on the computer (though it wasn't any better when I went USB-C to USB-C directly into the computer's port). The monitor is connected via an HDMI to USB-C adapter into USB-C on the MacBook.

When the pedal is on, it's got plenty of volume. When the pedal is switched Off, it's way too quiet. I would like the volume to be the same whether on or off like any other pedal.

Fiddling with the dial on the left side of the POD Express doesn't balance the volume when the pedal is Off with when it is On.

I purchased a Sonicake dual footswitch to pair with my POD Express.  It comes with a TRS cable, and I changed the POD Express global settings to work with it:

• Setting 3 (Volume Jack) set to white (FS3/FS4)
• Setting 6 (FS3) to blue (mod on/off)
• Setting 7 (FS4) to green (delay on/off)

Despite these changes, the Sonicake still acts like a single footswitch, turning the "On" button on and off, with no other functionality.

Does anyone have experience with or a solution for this?

Longtime Line 6 user here but just purchased a Pod Express (Red Guitar Version). When trying to use the Edit software on my Mac, it simply does not allow me to select amps or some of the effects. Strangely, I can select and edit reverbs and delays but not amps, cabs, distortion or modulation. However, I can edit the perimeters.  When I turn the knobs on the device itself, it registers on the Edit software, which you would expect but I want to primarily use the computer software for all my editing. I've restored my Mac several times, reinstalled software and even exchanged the unit for another one at Guitar Center. Same issue. Can anyone help? I've made a video...

For what it's worth my unit is one of the very first, one of the big-box stores let me have the very first one; they hadn't even tried it yet so it's possible this is a bug that got fixed later. Or of course could be user-error on my part, anyway otherwise I'm super-happy with the unit.

I have updated Pod Express and using desktop editor,also i connected external pedal to switch on/off effects.

On external controller i have overdrive on/off and delay on/off, od Pod left switch is chorus on/off.

I saved clean sound,with chorus on, overdrive off ,delay on.

Next preset High Gain amp,overdrive on,delay on,chorus off.

Now,while changing saved preset it looks like Pod is caring on all effects from previous one,for example moving from Clean to High Gain will bring chorus on top of High Gain preset and there is no overdrive pedal as i saved before.

It is really weird,looks like Pod Express is not saving individual effects setting to dedicated preset.

Is this a bug or i do something wrong? 

I have not had issues, and I assume of course that Truetone/1spot knows their stuff, so I must just suck at reading icons. 
 

Having said all that, I confused myself. I have a POD Express coming in soon and I don't know how to power it. I did check the manual and it says center negative. Soooooo.....does that mean I don't need the "red" cable? 

When switching between presets 1-7, the indicator shows the correct position, but in red. It should be white since that's the color used for presets 1-7 when in preset mode (not FX mode).

Additionally, the LED ring doesn't update at all for presets 8-21. It gets stuck in the position of the last preset and the color remains red. So, if I move up from preset 7 -> 8, the LED stays red in position 7. If I move down from preset 1 -> 21, it stays red in position 1.

I saw another person on here had trouble with his on iOS and he got another unit and it worked. I would rather not do that as I bought it online and would rather not wait to send it in and get a new one if there is something I can do. Any help out there?

My previous setup was a Matrix Quattro II DAC/amp, and it was MUCH louder. I'd turn the speakers maybe to a quarter, or a third, and my interface wasn't maxed-out at all.

And yet here, I have both the POD and speakers maxed-out and it's still not very loud at all.

I've got the relevant drivers installed, I've got the Windows volume to max, and the relevant app's output (e.g. browser, Spotify, etc...) also to the max. 

What could be going on here? Thanks!

 

I’ve been using my POD Express with my iPhone, and it works great! However, I’m wondering if there’s a way to use it as an interface without the built-in processing from the POD Express. Essentially, I’d like to bypass the POD Express tones and use apps like AmpliTube, JamUp, or AmpKit for processing instead.

Right now, AmpliTube is working, but I’m hearing the unprocessed (clean) signal from the POD Express in the background, which isn’t ideal. Additionally, other apps like JamUp and AmpKit don’t seem to work at all.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to fully bypass the POD Express tones and just use it as a clean interface? Any tips or settings I might have missed?

It's a little disappointing perhaps but these are very old units at this point, so not something I'd get too mad about.

How about in a firmware update - if poss - change the Strings to Octave up - cos it's pretty, pretty... pretty useless anyway.

Octave up would be handy for doubling as a guitar sound..

I left a jack plugged in which unsurprisingly drained the batteries.

The first replacements I tried did nothing despite a factory reset. With the 2nd lot it powered up briefly then nothing...

Would it be possible to shoehorn in some FW code to provide the short/long press detection capability and thereby provide control for 2 more fx blocks? Basically a timer loop started by the switch closure, and a comparison routine to determine if it is short or long press, as well as some sort of code mux to direct the control signals appropriately.

For example, I currently have FS3 assigned to control gain annd FS4 to delay. I like to occasionally be able to turnn modulation on and off, and also reverb. Having effectively 2 more footswitches available via short/long press would be very useful:  FS3 short/long, FS4 short/long. I could use the long presses for the mod and reverb controol, which I need less frequently.

Is there an assign to the unit to globally have all cabs off for when plugging into a real amp,

so that I don't have to keep dialing them all off one at a time every time I use an amp? 

If not, can I assign cab off as presets? Thanks muchly in advance.

am I missing something or is the USB merely for PC/Mac interface?

Line 6 support guy told me to download HX librarian cos I want to know what the factory presets are in the white areas of the Pod Express Bass. The app opens (PC), I can sign in, but all buttons are greyed, nothin' doin'..

Thought I might get a quicker response here.. Isn't HX for another effects unit... Helix maybe?

In the POD Express favor it has delays and choruses and effects like that, where the Boss IR-2 does not have any built in effects which is a disadvantage. I probably would have to buy a separate delay pedal and run it in the effects loop.

But I would like to ask if anyone here has purchased a POD Express and do you feel you're pretty happy with it? Would you recommend it? Can you get a real nice sound out of the JCM-800 (which is the amp I always use in my X3)?

My thinking here is:

• Preset Select Load On/Off lets you move to presets that are not sequential.
• I don't see myself making song-specific presets, so having TAP rate per preset doesn't seem useful.
• I could see making 2 presets for a song and use one of those presets for a volume boost
  (e.g., duplicate a preset and save it with a slightly higher CH. VOL level).
• When in PRESETS mode (ON+TAP), ON and TAP always seem to scroll NEXT/PREVIOUS presets; regardless of FS3/FS4 settings. This being the case, I don't see a benefit to using FS3 or FS4 to be NEXT/PREVIOUS.
• If I were to have an expression pedal, I would just get a real volume pedal and run it in front of POD Express and not use the VOLUME pedal in the signal chain after the CAB block.
• Assigning DIST to ON, MOD to FS3, and DELAY to FS4 provides the most control within a Preset.
  (You could assign FS3 or FS4 to REVERB, but I tend to always keep a light reverb on).
   

Observations so far:

• Effect bypass states seem to be global. That is, if I bypass DISTORTION and go to the NEXT preset, DISTORTION will be off even if I saved that preset with DISTORTION on.
• Pressing FS3 + FS4 together seems to toggle EFFECTS ON/OFF

My question is, could I set the POD Express to have presets switch via the Ext Amp jack of my HX Effects in the same way that my actual physical amp changes channels per preset?

Like I currently have my HX Effects controlling the channel switching on a Peavey 6505MH via a TRS cable with a footswitch on every given preset and snapshot controlling this, and if the Express can do the exact same (with tweaking) then great, I'll buy one. I'd only be using the Express to switch between a high gain amp and clean amp preset anyway.
