	Pulled out my old Vetta that I haven't used in years. Does anyone know how to get a 1.6 Java environment installed on my laptop so I can use Line 6 Edit software for it (like back in the day)?

<p>I browsed through all of the threads and didn't see a similar scenario that matches the symtoms I am facing with my Vetta II that I just purchase yesterday from Guitar Center.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>While playing on the amp and modifying the preexisting patches for a tone to my likeing the sound coming out of the cab cut off abruptly and the screen froze on channel 1A.  I turned the amp off and waited about 30 seconds and turned it back on.  Now both of the screens are completly blank and no sound is coming out.  I tried to run the flash update, but that didn't seem to work.  I left the amp off for several hours and tried again and both of the screens are completly blank still and no sound is coming out of the cab.</p>

<p>
	If you still use your Line 6 Vetta Combo or Vetta HD,
</p>

<p>
	at some point you will have to replace the internal CR2430 lithium battery.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The battery doesn't last forever, so it's an eventual issue that you'll have to address.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Guess what?
</p>

<p>
	<br />
	It isn't as hard as you think it is.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Really!
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I've replaced the internal lithium batteries in both my Vetta HD and Vetta Combo recently,
</p>

<p>
	and the amps are performing excellently, and I use them regularly for gigs and rehearsal!

<p>
	I just performed the update from 1.03 -&gt; 2.50 on my Dad's Vetta HD for him.
</p>

<p>
	<br />
	Everything seems to have gone fine aside from the channel selection now doesn't seem to work as it did before the update.
</p>

<p>
	Prior to the update you could quickly scroll thru the channels and after the update it seems rather slow and you can only go through them one at a time.
</p>

<p>
	I tried changing the selection from instant to deferred, with Instant it slowly scrolls thru and selects the channel you're on automatically, on deferred it scrolls thru quickly but requires additional input to select. Is there a way to fix this or is this just how channels function on 2.50?<br />

</p>

<p>
	Thank you.

	I have the Vetta ii head unit and the screen has gone out on it. I can no longer see anything. It's just orange. I'm finding that it's going to cost about $400 (or so), and 8 weeks of turn around time, to get it fixed. So, now I'm wondering if it would make more sense to put that $400 toward another rig that has the same effects/crazy sounds as the Vetta ii? I'm mostly interested in the weird sounds/FX and/or synth type sounds that are not common.

<p>
	I have an original Vetta head updated with 2.50 firmware. Everything works great on it. I recently got a Line 6 FBV Shortboard MKII for the Vetta. It works great. But one issue I'm having is that I can't get it to A/B between two amps in one patch properly. The 'Function 2' switch on the FBV does indeed work to switch between amps, but it <em>always </em>leaves Amp 2 on. When pressed it puts Amp 1 in 'stand-by' and leaves Amp 2 on, but when pressed again it turns Amp 1 on and still leaves Amp 2 on. <br />
	<br />
	What I want it to do is what is stated in the Vetta manual:<br />
	<strong>"AMP 1 OR 2: If only Amp 1 is on, stepping on the Amp 1 switch will toggle Amp 1 off and Amp 2 on. This allows A/B box style instant amp switching."</strong><br />
	<br />
	The above excerpt is clearly referring to the Longboard which has separate Amp 1 and Amp 2 footswitches. My ultimate question is simply, can the Shortboard FBV MKII perform this same function using the 'Function 1' and 'Function 2' switches? <br />
	<br />
	So far I have not been able to make it work. I've checked all the internal settings on the Vetta (footswitch, output, system settings, etc) and I can't figure out what the issue is. I even downloaded the Line 6 FBV Control software, and while it does let me change settings on the FBV, once plugged into the Vetta it seems to revert to whatever the defaults are for the Vetta. If anyone has experience with this and can help it's much appreciated. This is literally the only thing keeping the Vetta/Shortboard combo from being perfect for my uses.

<p>i recently went back to using my Vetta II HD and re-bought a Marshall 1960B.  i had been using my PODxt PRO with only the direct out for live applications.  well, i upgraded my guitar as well.  went from a Godin XTSA (with passive pickups) to an Epiphone Phophecy Les Paul Custom Plus EX (with an EMG 81 in the bridge and an 85 in the neck...all from the factory).  I loved EMG's when i used them from 2003-2007.  never had issues.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>from the moment i've tried my new setup at rehearsal, i get a weird static/hum swell after stacatto palm mutes.  like a delayed compressor kicking in for 1-2 seconds after i stop.  it doesn't seem to happen on my guitars with passive pickups.  but the sound only comes out of my cab, not through the PA via XLR direct out of the head.  Is this an electrical grounding issue?  i've tried different outlets in the basement and the issue remains.  i use monster cables at rehearsal, but i have a Line 6 Relay G90 that i use live. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>i cannot figure out where the problem is.....today i'm going to try some foam between the bridge and tailpiece as well as behind the nut on the headstock....i dont know this is where the issue is coming from, but i can't seem to find any forums where other people are experiencing this.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>any help would be appreciated.</p>

<p>
	<span style="font-size:12px;">I assumed the not saving was due to the lithium battery being dead, which suprised me that it retained my settings...but I don't understand the on-screen tone controls not working; could this be due to the battery as well, or is something else going on?</span>

	Curious if anyone here is looking for a fully functional Vetta II HD with a FBV Foot Controller and 4x12 Cabinet?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Purchased the set in 2002, and did a lot of touring with it. But its cosmetic condition is very good.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Replaced a faulty motherboard in 2004, and then it never left the home studio. Used it occasionally in subsequent years for recording when I wanted a mic'd track.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I'll add photos and videos if there's interest. It could be used for parts for as a functional rig.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I'm based in Toronto for shipping/pickup reference.

<p>Hi Vetta users !</p>
<p>Recently my Vetta  combo mainboard has passed away ( semaphore overflow message then nothing ).</p>
<p>I'm going to try to find some spare parts in the future cause I really like  my Vetta and I think Line 6 has never put something equivalent on the market since the Vetta ( I mean a amp with all their knowledges and ability in ).</p>
<p>But in case I wouldn't find spare parts , I'm thinking about using the Vetta like a cabinet with his own power amp. So I'd like to know if anybody has a diagram wich will permit me to connect a preamp to the Vetta's power amp . I mean what are the different pins function on the power amp board ( power supply , signal input etc.).</p>
<p>Has anybody already done this ?</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Have a nice day</p>

<p>
	Well, My Legacy Vetta II served me well for 10 years, Its been acting up lately and now its really starting to show signs of age. Not sure if its like an old receiver and I need to change all the electrolytic Caps but this is what is happening. First of all my setup is Windows 7 PC ( edit workbench &amp; the monkey). Everything is up to date. I use midi comm to and from the Vetta II via m-audio device then on to my Variax 700 guitar, I have a fbv-foot board too. Right now just to simplify my diagnostics the foot-board is not connected.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	So, when you power up the Vetta II you will hear a quick pop sound or a few very quick pops sounds or just awful noise. This quits and the amp goes silent.  I always adjust the volume way down before power up.  When you plug in the Variax (I resorted to new RJ45 cable) the amp may not produce sound right away but sometimes it dose. The Vetta always defaults to factory settings too. Sometimes if the Variax is plugged in when you power up it the amp stays silent. If you re-plug the Variax In/out then in it seems to be OK. I am careful not to adjust the volume up too.  Sometimes when you change the channel on the amp the amps sound goes silent too. If you change any setting on the Variax guitar it works aok all the time no problem here. So If you re-plug the Variax it seems to reset and the amp produces sound. This is not the case all the time but its very annoying. If a re-plug doesn't work I just re-power the amp and start the process I just explained.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	One more thing. High E is not as loud as the others? Even when you hit it hard it not there like the other four. Well I really liked this when it was 100% but now I would like to get her back to the way it was before.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Also when you look at the LCD display in the middle of the Vetta II its so dim you can't see a thing.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I also change the ribbon cable from the Variax pick up bridge to the PCB. I rung the connections from the bridge via the new ribbon cable too. I also re-flowed all the piezo pickup solder joint too.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Please send me comments
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	From my observation I think the Rj45 connectors require service. On the LCD it looks like I need a new one too.
</p>

<p>
	I think the amps power supply may need a rebuild too.

<p>
	I can't identify this 412 cabinet. Looks like an old one. There's no mention of any mono and stereo options. Is it stereo only? If I use the left entry only , will it be mono with the four spreakers at 4 ohms or only the two left ones at 8 ohms? Can I use this cab with my old Vetta II head? Is it possible to get the specs sheet for this cab?

	So I’m trying to do some recording to Ableton Live Lite via a Focusrite 4i4.  I’m using the Vetta direct out left/mono and have no output signal.  I have set it up per the manual trying both the direct and normal settings in the Output, and just nothing.  I have no sound from my headphone monitors on the Focusrite nor is there any signal getting to the Ableton program as it is just a flat line when I try to record. I’m confused as to what is going on.  What am I missing?

	My Vetta II was working fine but then momentarily a bass guitar that was plugged into the Vetta II touched an electric space heater and stopped making sound. All of the displays and the longboard pedal I have still works and everything seems fine except that instead of a proper sound out of the amp I get a kind of jet airplane wooshing sound that changes depending on which patch is selected.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The man fuse is obviously fine but if there is another one I can't find it and I don't see any obvious charring on any components.

<p>
	Hi everyone,
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I am new in this forum. My name is Jean-Michel, I compose as one-man death-metal band Mindkiller. I have since a few weeks a Vetta II HD, and I my guitar is a LTD MH400NT with EMG 81-85. I use the preset "Chaotic Bottom", so a mix between Mesa and 5150 and I record through garage band. I am not very satisfied with the sound when I record, as I would add more "chunck" and attack in my sound. I was thinking about mixing the preset with an extern pedal but I am not sure how to do it. At the back of the head, I find two entry for external loop. Do I need 2 stereo cables, then classically add my external pedal ( in this case a old Metal Zone, as I saw a video of Ola Englund from the Haunted showing a very impressive sound with this pedal combined with a Randall amplifier ), then press "loop" at the front of the head ?
</p>

<p>
	Thank you for your advices!

	Hello together,
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	there are alread a couple of posts about „no sound“ but non of them could help me - so maybe you can?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I bought a second hand  a vetta II combo online only to find:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	- hugh plops when switching on/off
</p>

<p>
	- no other sound from speaker
</p>

<p>
	- Tuner and headphone output are working fine.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Since I do not know this amp at all I have a few questions:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	- first thought is a defect headphonejack that wrongly recognises a headphone without there being one
</p>

<p>
	has anybody how to test for this?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	- any other suggestions what I could try/check for?

	Hello Folks, I would be grateful for any help / advice re the following:-
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;font-size:14px;">
	when I plug a guitar into my Vetta II Combo using 1/4" cable no sound forthcoming - the LCD display lights up with everything displayed as expected,   however when I plug my Variax into the amp using the Variax digital cable, the sound is perfect. I have experimented with different guitars and 1/4" cables, but no joy. Cannot find an explanation as to why  I get sounds with the Variax, but no sounds with my Fender, Burns, PRS etc.
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;font-size:14px;">
	Any ideas or someone with a similar experience? Any advice would be most appreciated.
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;font-size:14px;">
	MVH,

	I have Vetta HD (original), already at 2.50.  I have had it a little over a year and I love it.  I have not ever connected it to the PC for anything yet, and I have questions.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	First, is it worth it?  I mean would it affect the life of the head, or be taking a chance?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Second, Does it matter the versions of the Line6 software I use?  Like just use the latest, or do I need to find older since mine is the original Vetta?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Third, Do I have to use Monkey at the same time as Line6 Edit.

<p>
	Hey guys,
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I am new to this forum. I just joined cuz I need some help.  I picked up a Vetta HD about a year ago, and I absolutely love it. It was already flashed to 2.50 when I got it, and I’ve had no issues until now.  I just turned it on the other day and I don’t get signal thru it.  It does get a little noise when u plugin to the input and goes completely silent when unplugged. Everything looks ok, all of my patches appear to be there.  I get the usual pop when I turn it on. The only other thing that doesn’t look right is: I have the FBV longboard, and now that has no backlight, and doesn’t show the patch name, it just says Line 6.  The board does seem to still do all of its current assigned functions.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I dont know when/if  the battery was replaced last. I bought one but am reluctant to do it myself.  Could this be the problem, even though the patches look ok?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Any help is greatly appreciated.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	UPDATE: I got it working!!!   I actually just had a loose connection, and a bad cable to my FBV board.
</p>

<p>
	I am in the market for a new amp right now. I'm not terribly picky, I just want something with lots of headroom (ie wattage), and is powerful enough for loud rock gigs.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I have no aversion to modelling amps, so aside from tube amps such as the Bassman, Twin Reverb, AC30, etc, I'm also looking at the Vetta 2. I'm interested in it because Adrian Belew used them with King Crimson, and he got crazy tones. Also, they are reasonably inexpensive. Anyway, I know they've long since been discontinued, and there are computer/digital components that could go faulty in the Vetta 2. How risky is it to buy a used one? If something goes wrong with the software, how difficult would it be to fix it? If it encounters any sort of bug, would that just be the end of it? Aside from the computer components, how reliable are these Vetta 2 amps in general?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	PS: while we're on the topic of modelling amps, I'm also looking at the Vox Valvetronix VT100X. Does anyone have any experience with these? How does it hold up against the Vetta 2? The Vetta 2 was expensive when it was new, so I thought there must be something unusually good about this amp, compared to other modellers...

	I recently had an issue with the volume spiking on my Vetta II HD. During rehearsal, the volume got extremely loud for about a half a second then returned to the set volume level. It happened about 4 times while we were in the middle of playing. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on how to resolve? I'm not opposed to replacing the volume encoders if necessary but, I'm hoping for a less invasive solution.

<p>Firmware is at 2.03 (or something like that) so <u>it cannot </u>use L6 Edit 3 <u>you have to use the earlier L6 Edit 2</u>. In the Downloads area you must select the archived software for the Vetta - its there I DL'd a copy myself.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The whole point of the exercise to a) edit the amp b) make sure the midi connection is solid and reliable prior to the 2.5 firmware install (eventually).</p>

<p>(for some reason all my L6 gear goes in/in and out/out with this cable - even some Zoom and R-tron stuff so if your initial in/out, out/in fails try reversing them)</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Install L6 Edit V2</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Now with the Uno connected, turn the amp on (let it initialize) and connect the usb end to a rear port on the PC.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>(rear ports - yes typically the fronts are hubs and connections can be hit or miss)</p>
<p> </p>
<p>You will hear the dunk/dunk of the usb driver being loaded and a green light should be on the Uno (the plastic ball).</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Cool now start L6 Edit - the Vetta 1 will be seen as a Vetta 2 (yes it is correct). You might have to go and add it manually to config the in/out of the Uno (in - usually is correct but the out likes to default to the windows wavesynth (or similar) so change "out" to the Uno).</p>
<p> </p>
<p>After that the main L6 Edit window should open and show the loading of the Vetta's tones. Edit away.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>You are now good to go and I hope that helps someone! :D</p>
<p> </p>

<p> </p>
<p>Note: L6 Edit needs Java installed. You can install the later L6 Edit V3 which includes it (IIRC) and then just uninstall L6 Edit V3. I was running out of time so I really didn't check to see if both V2 and V3 of L6 Edit could be left on the PC at the same time.</p>
