So, I have bought a mobile keys 49 one year ago to learn that its fabrication was discontinued (as midi mobilizer). Thank you Line6 :-)

I found some tips that can help owners of this little keyboard that I like.

1) Using IOS 9

When I had made the updates of IOS9, I had the suprise to see that the keyboard was not working anymore. Here is what I have done :

- if necessary, use your computer USB connection to update the firmware with line6monkey (you will find it on the line6 software page if you check archive)

- on your ipad (not connected to your mobile keys), remove the app midi memo

- switch off and on your ipad and reinstall the app

- connect your mobile keys, midi memo should work now. Play any midi out (it seems midi out wakes up midi I/O)

I would like to thank c. degardin from the european support team who gave me this tip.

2) Lightning connection

Well, you changed your ipad/iPhone and you are with this old 30 pin cable. Don't try the lighting to 30pin apple adaptor, it would not work.

In fact, you do not need the ipad/iPhone cable. Your usb cable works always well. Just buy a lightning to USB camera adapter (yes, I know : 29$) and the job is done. It works perfectly.

I recently bought Mobile Keys 49, and I plug it into my computer, the computer recognizes the keyboard, the lights flash a time or two, then nothing.

The computers continues to recognize the keyboard, my music program continues to recognize it, but nothing happens when I try to use it. I press the keys and nothing happens. It was working fine on a friend's computer.

Only thing I can think of would be a driver issue. Any thoughts?

I just upgraded my late 2014 iMac to Catalina. My Mobilekeys 25 shows up in Audio/MIDI Setup, but the "Device is online" box is not checked (and I can't check it manually). I've tried plugging the unit into my USB hub and also directly into the back of my iMac. I went to https://line6.com/software/index.html and downloaded the latest driver, released 11/15/18. The list of supported OS's does not include Catalina. This new OS has been out for several months, and all of my other music software has been updated, but it seems my MobileKeys 25 has been left behind. Is there any way to get this device to work under Catalina?

Lost the Mobile USB cable for my old Mobile Keys 49. Looking for a replacement cable to plug into my ipad -- I had a generic cable before that went from whatever the port is on the back of the MK49 to lightning. Anyone know what the spec is? It's not USB Micro or USB-C. Is it the same as the Sonic Port cable?

I have just purchased a line6 MobileKeys49 keyboard, which I would like to use with LMMS in UbuntuStudio. Since this has proven far more complex than I imagined, I am trying to verify that the keyboard works by using my iPad, since this appears to be the simplest use case, according to the manual. I proceeded as follows:

installed MIDI Memo Recorder from the AppStore

connected the MobileKeys49 keyboard

accepted the displayed prompt to update the firmware

When the success notice appeared, I clicked OK, *before* disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard

Only afterwards, when things did not work as expected, did I find the FAQ stating that the reconnection should take place before clicking OK. If the sequence is important, this belongs in the text of the dialog, not just in the FAQ.

Since neither MIDI Memo Recorder nor line6 Monkey (running under Windows 8.1) asks me to update the firmware, I assume that the firmware upgrade was successful.

MIDI Memo Recorder appears to record successfully, i.e. when I click the record button and press keys on the keyboard, hex bytecodes appear in the editor window.

However, when I click the play button, I see the progress of the playback in the timeline widget, but I don't hear anything.

How can I hear what I am playing on the keyboard, or what I have recorded in MIDI Memo Recorder?

I had a problem with my Mobile Keys 25; squeaky key issue. So, I reported it and L6 replaced it promptly. (Thank you L6 support!) However, the replacement has the exact same issue, as seen below in this loop:

EDIT: That Vine link was not accessible to anyone else, sorry. I removed it, it's not necessary anyway.

So, I am contemplating just not bothering with another replacement and opening it up and lubing the mechanism myself. (Accepting the fact that it would probably void my warranty.)

Hi, I've been happily using a MobileKeys 49 with Garageband on my iPhone 4S and iPad 2 for a while now. I've just upgraded to a 5S and of course the supplied 30-pin cable does not fit. Are there any plans to market a new cable for the modern iPhones and tablets? I bought a cheap generic 30-pin to Lightning adapter which seems to work with everything except my MobileKeys49, so I'm a bit reticent to blow another £25 on the genuine Apple adapter if that too will fail.

Hello everyone,

I just got the Mobile Keys 25 controller, which I'm using for my iPad 1 (yes, you read that right). I'd also like to use it as a controller for my desktop rig, which is Digital Performer 7 on an intel Mac desktop (OS 10.6.8).

The problem is with the sustain pedal. The sustain pedal works properly on my iPad when I'm using the Music Studio app. But when I use the keyboard as a controller in Digital Performer, the sustain pedal does not work. Everything else seems to work fine: pitch and mod wheels as well as volume and pan knobs.

Oh, I'll add that that I seem to have the same problem on my PC (with Windows Pro 7): the keys play fine but the sustain pedal has no effect. I tested the MK 25 using a stand-alone version of Kontakt on this machine.

Any ideas of how I might remedy this?

Thank you!

I just got the Mobile Keys 25. I have a standard expression pedal, a Behringer FCV100, which I have used with other USB/MIDI devices without incident. However, when I hook it up to my new keyboard, and run it through FL Studio, rather than detecting a continuous input, it is treated like an on/off switch. I get no control change until I am at near 100% where the software registers full value, then if I move back at all, it goes to zero.

I have tried remapping the control to something else in case the software was making the mistake of thinking it was a sustain pedal or something. I'm definitely in the right jack, and the pedal is set up correctly. I have tried it both with and without AC power, and with different cables. Same result. What's going on here?

Hi - I know this is going to irk the professionals and those who've invested a lot of time in MIDI, but please bear with me, as I am just getting started. I will study and get to know MIDI as I get the chance, but I also learn by example, and this will help.

Specifically, I want to use a keyboard sustain pedal as a kick drum trigger. Maybe I am thinking of this the wrong way, but I was thinking that I could connect the pedal to the Expression input on my MK49, which is connected to my iPad running MusicStudio (with its Drum Kit set selected), and somehow map the pedal's "note" to trigger the bass drum note, which is the lowest C key.

I just don't understand enough of the MIDI terminology, I guess, to figure out what the Controller, Channel, Program and any other settings should be.

I have watched some videos on MIDI - including some guy who is doing what I want to do with another keyboard (YouTube video WQereUXWGvc), but he is so high, I just can't get through it. Plus, I can't translate the actions listed in his text into what I am reading in the MK49 manual. I am sure that's because I don't grasp MIDI yet.

I've also started a couple of MIDI tutorials, but just haven't had the time to really put into it to this point. Anyway, the point is, I've given some effort to understand it, and I think if someone can just explain how I'd accomplish this particular task, it would probably connect some dots for me in overall understanding. I want to try and make this happen for an event that is coming up, so it can't wait until I get through a set of MIDI courses.

Anyone willing to help me out? I'd appreciate it.

I am just beginning playing keyboard, so I'm not sure how much range the average keyboard player needs. I understand that the 25 has a button you can press to change octave, but it can give funny results especially if you finished pressing one key, change octaves, and the press the next note. The problem is that you will hear the previous note going up, something that would sound really bad. What do you think?

Iphone5, Keys49 And Audio Cable: Is There Sufficient Space?

Hello,

I'd like to know this before buying the keys49 keyboard.

I have an iphone5, so I want to use the 30 pin adapter, but I need also to use a cable that goes from the earphones output, to the mixer.

Is there enough space for insert the audio cable, since major part of the surface will be covered by the 30 pin adapter?

thank you!
