If you get error code 1116 (the "yellow picks" error) when trying to export or access Helix presets, check whether your machine name has changed. Helix relies on the ComputerName value (and other values like VolumeName) to decrypt your assets, so if that name changes, it can't unlock your presets anymore. Renaming the computer back to its original name fixed it for me.

Longer version

I bought a new MacBook Pro. It ended up with the same name as my old one, but with a "(2)" tacked on at the end. When I tried to install and authenticate Helix on the new machine, all my presets stopped working, factory presets, my own presets, and ones I'd imported from other people.

I contacted Line 6 for help. We went through several rounds of uninstalling and reinstalling, and carefully replacing preset folders, but nothing fixed it.

Eventually I figured out that iCloud had changed the ComputerName on my old machine. I found this by comparing the computer name history on both machines and noticed the name changed right after I signed into iCloud on the new one. That's when I put it together: Line 6 uses things like ComputerName and VolumeName (your hard disk's name) as part of how it encrypts presets, paid and unpaid alike. I confirmed this by checking my backup provider, which labels backups by computer name. Once I renamed the computer back to what it was originally, the problem was gone. I was able to save a bundle and move on.

Why would that be?

I’m experiencing an issue with Helix Stadium Native 1.3.3 where external Cab IR assignments are not being saved/restored with presets.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create or load a preset containing a Cab > IR block.
2. Select an external WAV IR from the configured IR directory.
3. The IR sounds correctly while the preset is open.
4. Save the preset.
5. Close and reopen the preset.
6. The Cab IR block shows <EMPTY> and the IR has to be selected manually again.

I also tested editing the .hsp preset file directly. The IR block contains an IrData value, but changing that value from 0 to 1 does not restore or load an IR.

I am using Helix Stadium Native 1.3.3 on Windows.

This makes presets using external IRs impractical because the IR has to be manually reassigned every time the preset is loaded.

I can provide the affected .hsp presets and screenshots if needed.

Thanks L6! Really digging Stadium Native! A few bugs with input/output settings when switching presets, and cab IRs not recalled when changing presets, but nothing too bad. The Agora Panama, I can't get the gain to sound anything but mush. The Legacy Panama works as before though and is good. The Agora Rev 120 though! Wow! It is amazing.

I just got Helix Native and am in love right now! All the amps and pedals I wish I had irl are great to play with. However, I have had some issues with the Helix model of the DS-1, one of the pedals I most want to use.

I should mention I don’t own the pedal irl, so my frame of reference for what it should sound like is based solely on demo videos I’ve seen and the DS2 that I do own. Anyways, I was really hoping to be able to set the level on the pedal well above my clean signal in order to get a quiet-loud sound when the pedal is stomped on and off, but it unfortunately seems that I can barely get above unity gain most of the time.

The problem is fairly amp dependent. Some amps (like the Solo lead clean), so long as the amp drive is set fairly low, allow the pedal to push out a nice volume differential. But most amps I try- or if I use the pedal by itself- either barely hit unity gain, or actually reduce in volume with the pedal on, even at max level.

Weirder still, the pedal seems to be operating as a hard volume cap. If I place a boost pedal after the DS1, the volume gets boosted no problem. However, if I place a boost before the pedal, or if I boost input gain in helix, no change is made to the volume whatsoever. This is strange, since I can have the boost pedal up at max or push input gain until it starts clipping (which raises the volume substantially when the pedal is off), but as soon as I turn the DS1 on in front of it my volume drops back down. This doesn’t seem to happen with any other distortion pedals in Helix.

The exact volume it caps at is somewhat variable, but usually around unity gain when I set my input level within the optimum range (-36 to -18 db).

Any help here would be greatly appreciated! This feels like a bug, but I felt I should check here first since the weird behavior is pretty confusing. It’s not a huge deal, but since I was looking forward to getting a Nirvana like “quiet-loud” sound with this pedal specifically, finding out what’s going on here would be really helpful!

I’m trying to activate the 15-day free trial for Helix Native, but I am completely stuck on a blank/greyed-out screen immediately after logging into my account via the VST interface.

My Line 6 account shows 0 out of 5 authorized devices, so I am not hitting a device limit. The trial buttons ("Start Free Trial" / "Authorize") simply refuse to render.

What I have already tried without success:

Deleting all Line 6 configuration/cache folders in %appdata% (Roaming), %localappdata%, and C:\ProgramData.

Running the DAW as Administrator.

Changing DAW compatibility/plugin isolation settings (Separate/Dedicated process).

The UI just hangs completely blank right after the login credentials entry. Has anyone encountered this specific initialization bug and found a workaround?

it shows a splash page for Helix Native and Hi with my name at the top, but no interface.

nothing at all.

what am I doing wrong.

I've installed it 100 times, rebooted, did all the things.

Looking in the plugin folders there are no components or plugins - not sure where they went on install.

Did native get midi pedals working yet - been a while since visiting - thanks much 

While looking at the helix native app screen in MainStage while toggling through presets, it shows the yellow highlighter of the current preset quickly go to the very first preset and then down to the one I selected. Is there any way around this? I have tried on various program change commands and it happens about 50% of the time. 
 

I can change snapshots easily enough with my FCB1010 and it would be great if I could get the FCB1010 to act as a Stomp footswitch emulator. 

eg. pressing a pedal on the FCB1010 triggers Helix Native to do the same action that pressing a Stomp footswitch would do, and change the parameters mapped to that footswitch.

I have set a pedal on the FCB to midi CC 49 which equates to Footswitch 1.

I'm encountering an issue with the AU versions of Helix Native (version 3.71) when using MIDI to trigger preset changes within Logic Pro and Ableton Live during a song. Whenever a preset is switched via MIDI, there’s a noticeable hiccup or lag in the DAW's tempo and a significant spike in CPU usage. This problem does not occur when changing presets manually directly in the plugin's interface, nor when changing snapshots. Interestingly, the issue is doesn’t happen in the AAX version of Helix Native in Pro Tools, which operates smoothly.

Unfortunately, I cannot test this in the VST3 version in Ableton since it does not support MIDI. After reaching out to Helix Native support, I received a generic troubleshooting guide that did not address the specifics of the problem, and they did not even attempt to reproduce the issue. The support person was able to mark the ticket as "replied" which is all that matters.

Can anyone else confirm whether they have or do not have the same issue? Can someone please try to reproduce? I can't be the only person in the world who tries to switch presets (not snapshots) during a song with MIDI.

I'm working on understanding each block on the HX Stomp XL. The names don't really resonate with me, but I can listen for what I'm trying to achieve. However, the parameters are often abbreviated, which makes it challenging. How can I find out what each parameter does for each block?

Is it assumed that I already own all the physical pedals and amps, along with their manuals for the blocks being simulated?

I used AI to draft a free, open-source reference document for all 384 factory presets across the Factory 1, Factory 2, and Templates setlists in Helix Native v3.82.
 

As far as I know, Line 6 has never published official documentation for the factory presets - and the preset names are deliberately cryptic to avoid trademark issues.  Some of the names are obvious, others less so.  I realize opinions are divided on the value of presets, but I'm of the view that understanding the sound designer's intent makes them more useful as starting points and examples.
 

For every preset, the document includes:
 

• The decoded real name (artist, song, or tonal reference behind each factory name)
• A tonal description explaining what the preset is going for
• The complete signal chain with every block mapped to its real-world hardware equivalent
• Recommended pickup type and position for the target tone
• Song-matched tempo where relevant

The document includes a table of contents and four cross-reference indices, listing presets by amp model, artist, genre, and pickup configuration (eg humbucker vs single coil).  The TOC and cross-reference entries are all clickable links.
 

The preset name decoding draws heavily on the community knowledge from this forum - particularly the "Let's put the REAL name to the presets" thread - so thank you to everyone who contributed there.

In this example, I use ASDF, ZXCV for two rows of 4 Snapshots each. These rows are mirrors of each other, except the upper row has dotted 1/8 delay. Feel free to designate any set of Snapshot Keys that makes visual/spatial sense to you. 

This method precedes ALL the pre-assigned keyboard shortcuts on Logic - those who've tried finding unassigned keyboard shortcuts will know that there are none IYKYK... In the event you need to access the Logic shortcuts, disable BetterTouchTool for Logic (on BTT menu bar), and enable again when you need to use Snapshot Keys. 

1. Trigger Snapshots using Keyboard
Objective: Assign keyboard shortcuts to trigger Snapshot 1-8 on Helix Native ("Snapshot Key").

On BetterTouchTool 
Moving across the columns from left to right:
1. Add App Specific Trigger: Logic
2. Add keyboard shortcut: A
3. Action Configuration: Add "Send MIDI Command"
    1. 191 (Control Change)
    2. Controller number: 69
    3. Value: 0 (for Snapshot 1)
    4. Send MIDI command to Logic Virtual MIDI
4. Repeat above steps 2-3 for keyboard shortcuts: SDF and ZXCV respectively,
    1. Assign "Value" as 1-7 for Snapshots 2-8 respectively

On Logic Pro 
1. Create New Track 
    1. Software Instrument Track 
    2. Instrument: Helix Native
    3. Audio Output: Stereo Output (or as desired)

Configure each Snapshot Key with a Tap Tempo MIDI command:

    1. 191 (Control Change)
    2. Controller number: 64

2. Action Configuration: Add "Pause Execution (non-blocking)"

Create a standalone key for Tap Tempo MIDI command (This step is required because Logic Key Assignment (next step) will detect multiple CC inputs in Learn Assignment, as opposed to a standalone CC#64 command.)

2. Action Configuration: Add "Send MIDI Command" - ensure this is the only MIDI command being sent
    1. 191 (Control Change)
    2. Controller number: 64
    3. Value: 64 (for compatibility with other hardware Helix)

On Logic
1. <Option+K> to open Key Command
2. Search Tap Tempo
3. Learn New Assignment

Now you can set Tap Tempo on each Snapshot Key, and trigger Snapshot simultaneously. Tap any Snapshot Key 5 times, Logic will designate tempo based on the average BPMs of the last 5  taps.

Usage Note: 
1. Logic will start playing the track after 5 taps, so (especially if you're playing live) make sure there's no other "live" track on Logic that will start playing.
2. If you tap 5 different Snapshot Keys in fairly quick succession, 5 CC#64 commands will be sent and Tap Tempo will be activated. 

Further Possibilities
1. Toggle Set List (using CC#32, value 0-7)
2. Toggle Presets within Set List (using PC#0-127)
3. Tuner - again Helix Native doesn't have an assigned MIDI CC for tuner.

How can I get back to recording?

Wanting to record my guitar but not loving the distortion ton I'm getting. 

Trying to determine if it would be better to run my Amps, Cabs, IRs with Native and just record "dry or effects within gain" with the Helix Floor. 

Almost like re-amping but using the floor for effects. 

 

I've just got a new to me, refurbished, MacBook Pro and I'm running OS Tahoe. When I installed Logic and Helix Native, I tried to run it and the program is just stuck on what ChatGPT is calling the Splash Screen. The plugin logs me in, but nothing else happens and I don't have access to anything. At first the plug-in looked like Native the way it was, but now it's just the Splash screen (see attached picture). I've tried several options given to me through ChatGPT, reinstalling, using safe mode, using other DAWs. No avail. 1) is anyone having this problem with 2019 MacBooks running Tahoe? and 2) are there any solutions for this?

I’m testing Helix Native inside Reaper 7 (Windows 11) together with a Nektar PACER and ReaLearn.
The sound is amazing, but I’m stuck on one important thing: LED sync.

Here’s what works:

• Block ON/OFF is assigned to automation (“Controller Assign → Bypass → Switch 01–16”).

• ReaLearn maps Helix automation → PACER LEDs.

• Clicking blocks with the mouse updates PACER LEDs correctly.

• Clicking presets with the mouse also updates the LEDs.

• Tapping Pacer toggles blocks on and off

Here’s what does not work:

• Selecting snapshots via MIDI CC69 (or mouse) changes the snapshot inside Helix Native,
  but no automation update is sent, so PACER LEDs don’t update.

• Selecting presets via MIDI Program Change loads the preset,
  but again no automation change is sent. (selecting presets by double click DO update the PAcer Leds)

So I,m lost and the core issue is:
Helix Native doesn’t seem to send any automation updates to the host when snapshots or presets are changed via MIDI.

My question:

 Is it possible to keep a hardware controller (like the PACER) in sync when changing Helix Native presets/snapshots via MIDI?
Does Helix Native send any automation to the host when doing this?

If anyone has a working setup or a known workaround, I’d really appreciate it.

Tried the following:

- uninstall, reinstall, reboot 

- delete all file residues within the mac system (Library/Application Support etc...)

- authorize, deauthorize from Accounts page

- even went with uninstalling Central, HX Edit, L6 License Manager

Still won't authorize my license. 

Here's some other info that might help.

- I used a Native Trial before (2023)

- Purchase History only shows Native Trial (Order Placed & Completed 2023), but no purchase track of the latest order that I did.

- Clicking the email leads me to the Line6 Shop WW Order Status Page saying order is Placed & Completed. I also have the Invoice PDF. But nothing reflects on the Purchase History.

- System includes: Mac M4, Logic Pro, HX Stomp.

I already sent a ticket, with no response yet.

I'm a long term Helix Floor and Native user, but I'm just starting to use snapshots.

I have an Ableton session that I am working on for live gigs. This includes HX Native for guitar processing.

I would like to be able to use Snapshots, controlled by Luminite M2.

When I try to set up snapshots, I cannot get each snapshot to recall the block on/off settings I left it in. This only happens with HXN presets where I have already assigned block on/off to Switches in Ableton. If I use a different session and start with a blank canvas, it seems that I can assign a snapshot to switch books on and off.

Am I right in saying that assigning a switch to a block will prevent me from controlling that same block's n'off state via a Snapshot?

I would like to be able to use both options if possible.

Any help is gratefully apprciated!

Essentially 4 cable method with Native providing distortion etc into the amp input + delay etc into the FX loop.

Guitar into input 2 of interface (hi-z input)

Add distrotion etc using Native

Line out left to amp fx loop

Add delay etc using Native

Amp FX loop into input 1 of interface (non hi-z, will this be a problem?)

Challenge 1 - if I do this in the DAW I think I'll need 2 x Native plugins and need to configure both to receive same MIDI commands + have patches for both pre-amp and post-amp aligned to the same patches, if this is even possible. If I add Native to both channels in DAW, the MIDI node changes to 2, no idea whether I can send commands to 2 nodes???

Challenge 2 - the signal chain is configurable inside of Native but it seems to reference a physical pedal (Helix Floor etc) rather than inputs of interface. If I'm correct maybe Native does have drawbacks over Line 6 hardware? 

The more I research the more I think this won't be possible (or too hard to bother), I wonder whether Line 6 will give me a credit towards a floor board? lol

I have successfully got it to select the playlist  CC32 and preset PC (09) as per the documentation but when triggered by the timeline it toggles between factory and user playlists.

Am i missing something somewhere?

When I see the product listed before adding to cart, it lists the price as $99.99 - $399.99 and the text says "Helix Native is available at a one-time reduced cost for customers with registered Helix hardware and existing POD Farm users."  Selecting upgrade from Amp Farm gets me $50 off ... my Helix is registered .. how do I get the other $250 off?

I'm using Helix Native on a windows pc in reaper, through a Motu M4, I have the same guitar I had years ago, it's a cheap guitar but it has Seymour Duncan JB and 59 pickups, it's not a great guitar but it's properly set up, I mean, electronics, pickup height, octaves, etc.

I can't make a good sound in Helix Native, I have the proper levels on the input, set up by my interface gain knob (right in the middle of the bars right next to input meter, most loud thing I can play doesn't go above -12db) it just sounds thin, no matter how hard I turn the knobs on the amp, drives and eq.

The only thing I could do that improved the sound was to use another instance of Helix, using the "DI" factory preset before the Helix with the preset that I was trying. Which applies some things but the main effect being the studio tube pre from the preamp>mic section.

When I do that I get some of the chunk back from the tone that I'm used to have when I play this guitar through a normal amp.

Am I missing something here? What should we do to get a real decent tone? When I saw some videos comparing a hardware Helix to Helix Native it was this huge brutal difference, the software version just sounds thin. I'm quite sure it is something related to recording technique because on paper software is the same and my interface is probably decent enough. Any ideas?
 

I used to play guitar quite a while ago (around 15-20 years) and have recently decided to return by trying out Helix Native.

I’m currently using Helix Native on a Windows PC with Reaper, connected through a Motu M4. I still have the same guitar I had back then—it's a budget model equipped with Seymour Duncan JB and 59 pickups. While it’s not a top-tier guitar, it’s well set up in terms of electronics, pickup height, and intonation.

Despite this, I’m struggling to achieve a good sound with Helix Native. I’ve set the input levels correctly using the gain knob on my interface (keeping it right in the middle of the input meter, and the loudest I can play doesn’t exceed -12 dB). However, the sound remains thin, no matter how much I adjust the amp, drives, and EQ settings.

The only improvement I’ve noticed was when I added another instance of Helix, using the "DI" factory preset before my desired preset. This setup applies several enhancements, notably the studio tube pre from the preamp/mic section, which helps restore some of the chunkiness I'm familiar with when playing through a traditional amp.

Am I missing something? What steps can I take to achieve a decent tone? I’ve seen videos comparing the hardware Helix to Helix Native, and the difference was striking—the software version sounds quite thin. I suspect this may relate to recording techniques, as the software and my interface seem adequate on paper. Any suggestions?

I considered getting a new computer, but from everything I've read, it sounds like my current system should be more than able to handle Helix Native without any problem.  Here's what I've got:

Bought a license for Helix Native yesterday and for some reason when I try and authenticate it looks like it hits the servers but then opens in the trial version.

Initially I was trying it using a wrapper called vPlayer Lite - no luck.  Someone suggested that program might not actually have that connectivity so I downloaded Reaper and tried it in there.  Still showing trial.

I have deauthorized my computer (using the computer have not done so in my profile on this site) and re-authorized and it still logs in as trial.

I can see the purchased license in my account and also have the email from when I bought it.

Any suggestions?

Every time I start Reaper with a project where Native i plugin I get the message "Failed to connect to DSP engine (Device has not been initialized properly. code -8201)

Then I have to deauthorize the computer an log in again and authorize the PC.

Restart Reaper and then it works.

Any help?????
