  2. Because nothing in life is ever that simple, no modeler is perfect, and as nifty as the Helix is...it's not gonna do the work for you. Oh, and the 1000 other things everybody else already noted. ;)
  3. Today
  5. Hey I'm going for something punchy and distorted. Thanks for responding, I will look into an FRFR solution next. I've gotten some real awesome bass tones when recording on my DAW. But can't seem to replicate it on a bass cab. But it totally makes sense why.

    Helix 2.9

The fiat before the lux. I don't know. Nobody knows. Exactly :-) Bats and eagles have different perceptions of reality, but it's the same reality irrespective of what sensorium is used to perceive it. You could, but not as synonyms for perception :-)

    Helix 2.9

Existence was here before us, but doesn't a "reality" require "agency?" Reality being our shared condition, and experience of said existence. Even if only a slice of it. EDIT: I mean our truly shared condition, and experience of said existence. For instance our reality is we only see in a limited spectrum of light without augmentation. Of course I could be taking this too far, and you can just use existence, and reality as interchangeable synonyms. :)

Well, my playing time isn't exactly limited. And I usually use pedal edit to quickly go through a bunch of new IRs, which allows me to instantly feel them under my fingertips. Most often this very quickly tells me whether I like an IR or don't. And fwiw, I don't use tons of patches at all, either. I'm always only using one single patch per gig. Yet, I like checking out IRs because they're extremely great to deliver, say, a different point of view. Fwiw #2: In addition to using IRs for plain cab sim duties, I really like to fool around with some more "esoteric" ones when recording. Ever used a spoon sample (or whatever might come to your mind) as an IR? Can be quite interesting. Whatever, all that shouldn't matter because it's no excuse for the poor IR handling of the Helix platform. And seriously, after around 5 years it's about time this gets a decent update.

  11. I thought the "2C" in the name was referencing the Mark IIC+.... I didn't know for sure so I didn't want to bring it up :) Thanks for posting that! @leborgne23... I think it is still important to recognize that there is more to a RAW AMP TONE on any recording or video than the amp itself.... there are still mics, mic placement, pre-amps and compression that need to be factored in.
  12. Ok, so I understood correctly the first time around. My confusion was I thought USB Input was stuff that goes TO the computer and not having the Helix with me I couldn't test it. Thanks rd2rk!
  13. Set USB 1/2 Destination to 1/4". Set the output blocks to XLR.
  14. Oh no, I did understand the part about headphones and I understand that that is not possible like you say. But regarding my first question: can I monitor Logic's output through 1/4" only (without having to go through blocks and using up a path) while monitoring my Helix bass path through XLR only? That I'm not sure I understood correctly.
  15. Headphones will monitor 1/4" OR XLR OR EVERYTHING. Maybe I don't get what you're trying to achieve?
  16. I did go to the Global Settings, but I figured what I was looking for was USB Out rather than In. Thanks for that! I guess Headphones Out would share DAC with either 1/4" or XLR, so there is no way to have it completely isolated from the two. Thanks! Edit: or maybe I'm not getting your point and you are telling me that what I'm trying to achieve is not possible...? I don't have the Helix on hand now but will give it a shot tomorrow.
  17. Global Settings>Ins/Outs>USB In 1/2 Destination. Page 52 of the manual. If you like to jam along with the iTunes or YouTube apps or your DAW, this setting determines from which outputs your computer or iPad device's primary stereo audio stream will be heard. USB In 1/2 bypasses all Helix LT processing; USB 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8 can be selected as input blocks for processing DAW tracks or re-amping. Normally, you should choose "Multi," which sends USB In 1/2 directly to the 1/4", XLR, and Digital outputs. See "USB Audio". Headphones Monitor (same page): Determines which signal(s) are heard from the PHONES output. Normally you would set this to Multi (1/4"+XLR+Digital+USB 1/2), but there may be a situation where you only want to hear what's sent from the 1/4" or XLR outs, particularly if they are being fed different signals (or band members!)
  18. Hi tjbasson, which effects do you use? Do you have a video or a track that I could listen to? I am curious about the application to wind instruments
  19. Hello folks, I want to use the Helix LT live to output my bass through XLRs and my Logic session with stereo synths through the main 1/4" outs. I know this can be done by creating a parallel path with the input coming from USB 1-2 and the output going to 1/4" while keeping the bass amp on XLR out only. However, both my DSP use parallel paths for my bass and I don't have a path to spare for the computer output. Since this is not a resources issue but rather a user interface one, is there a way to tell the Helix to output USB 1-2 to 1/4" only without going through paths and blocks on the Helix interface? I'll add: is there a way to do a similar thing to send Return 2 to Headphones Out? I'd like to use that as an in-ear preamp.

If you can tell if you want to use an IR in a couple of seconds, more power to you, I guess. If you only spend ~10 seconds with each one, that's still like 20 minutes just to get through them, then if you're needing to cycle through ALL 128 slots several times because you got some new IRs... I don't know, seems like a lot of time to me when my playing time is already limited. I'm the odd-man out in modeling land most of the time, though, because I have limited needs in regards to patches (original bands, maybe 3-4 presets per band), I sound 99% the same no matter what I dial up, and I already have a clear idea of what gear gets me to the tones I'm after, so I've never felt the need to collect IRs just to check them out.
  21. 2020 and no "copy path". go vote on idea scale! https://line6.ideascale.com/a/idea-v2/918450#idea-tab-details
  22. Additional XLR outs require additional internal wiring, additional hardware and more space. Also, the connection plate of the POD Go is pretty crowded already, can't see how two XLR outs would fit there all too easily. Further, add XLR outs and rest assured people would be asking why there's no dedicated volume control for XLR and 1/4" outs, so an additional op amp would be needed. Etc.
  23. Thank you rd2rk that make sense. I'll give it a go in the morning. Sounds like I had it 'arse about face' in my understanding from the manual. Really Appreciate your help. I spend so many hours helping other with computer problems online it is great to get some help from others! Rock on \m/

It takes almost no time to audition 128 IRs, where's the problem?
  25. Hey man, I am about to get sucked in this process. Just opened a support ticket and Ill bet I will go down this road my own. Instead of making music I spent now 3 hours trying to get my helix working again, without success. I cry myself into sleep now...
