  2. I there guys . let me tell you about my nightmares. Now I'm 51 years old, when I was 20 I had a garage band and used a jcm900 mkII connected to 1960 A with a Yamaha rgx 312 guitar, for effects I used the zoom 505 with a boss EV volume pedal to do wha wha.than the band ended … and I stopped playing and sold everything, after a few years the fever returned and I started by buying a telecaster and a fender reverb 25 amp, in the meantime I bought a strat and an epiphone les paul with which I have been playing more, for now One year I purchased a Helix LT, a Seymour Duncan PS 170 and a 2x12 Harley Benton with V30 Celestion . I'm about to give up, because I still don't get good sound from this set, what am I missing??? Does anyone have this set that can help me?Not even the factory presets sound god... what is missing??? best regards from Portugal
  3. Hey all! I'm working on a rig for a customer that has the HX Stomp with a Vertex Interface on the board. Basically, Left/Right outputs are always plugged into the interface's L/R inputs that go out to the two amps/DIs. After reaching out to Vertex, using only the LEFT out of the interface sums both outputs for mono operation. I know that the Stomp itself sums stereo effects to mono when plugging into just the left output, but in this case, they're always plugged in and the summing happens at the interface. Here's the quirk: customer had a patch with an amp/cab block and legacy plate reverb. I turned off the amp/cab block because I was plugging into an amp. Using the left output of the vertex interface, I was only getting reverb with little to no dry signal. plugging into the right output on the interface had dry signal plus reverb. so I removed all blocks to test. left output on the interface has nothing and right output has dry signal. while plugged into the LEFT output, panning either direction at the output block did nothing. while plugged into the RIGHT output, panning fully left muted everything and panning fully right was dry signal back again. I have tried several settings and variations but can't seem to figure this one out after a few hours. any input to give me new perspective/something else to check out would be immensely helpful! chain is: GTR > Interface Tuner Fender Switchboard with 4 drive pedals, out to H90 stereo BigSky stereo HX Stomp stereo, back to interface Thank you! jg

  5. Awesome! That sounds ideal--thanks for your reply!
  6. I would use the 4 Cable Method (4CM) as described in the HX FX manual, in the ’Hooking It All Up’ section. This allows you to use some of your HX FX models before the CX in the signal path (e.g. OD, Comp), and some after the CX (e.g. MOD, Reverb, Delay). On the CX, set the Return switch to the Power Amp setting. You can use the HX FX models in conjunction with the CX FX models as well if you wish. Give it a read and experiment. It can be confusing at first so don’t hesitate to come back with questions.
  7. Thanks for that Craig, very helpful.
  8. Hi folks! Just got a catalyst cx 200. I had a helix fx lying around and saw that I can use it as a midi control. From what I have seen so far, I can use it to set up channel switching and controlling the effects in the amp. My question is this: can I also use the effects in the helix fx with the amp via the same connection? How would I do this? Because all I can find out is how to use what is already in the amp via the helix fx. Sorry for the newb questions. Thank you in advance.
  9. Hey StratBoss - I think the GR-55's guitar modeling is good. IMHO I think the Variax sounds closer to the real thing and WB can get you closer. But the the GR-55 has guitar modeling based on BOSS/Roland’s VG-99 COSM (Composite Object Sound Modeling). I know that a few pros did or still do use the VG-99 (like John Mclaughlin, Vernon Reid, Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, Frank Gambale, Jeff Baxter, Steve Stevens). It just boils down to which one sounds/feels best to you. One plus for going the Roland route is that you can put the 55's GK pickup onto any guitar - so your favorite axe can have all the capabilities of the GR-55 and still feel like your favorite gear. I use the GR-55 with a Roland Ready (MIM) strat so I don't have the ugly GK controller and divided pickup wires showing. I had a Vax600 with the GK pup on it and it was cool to mix the Variax real guitar with the modeled guitar and the COSM guitar sounds together with 2 GR's synth sounds (a blend of 5 noises from one guitar at once). Only way to tell is A/B them yourself and then it will be your opinion not mine. I don't know what it says that both companies have respectfully discontinued these 2 products.

    Presets

Press and hold the Channel button (A or B) where you wish to SAVE the preset. When the LEDs start blinking you can release the button. I don't think you can manually SAVE an existing preset to a different Bank.

    Presets

Quick question. Can you save presets by just using the amp or do you need to do it using the software? Thanks.
  12. Thanks Schmalle for your reply. Looks like I bought the wrong controller...
  13. Here's the difference! I have my volume knob on both set to control the headphones and line outs. When line outs are excluded from being controlled by the volume knob they default to max. I'll need to check in Ableton, but I'm guessing I'll see similar volume output levels that you're seeing.
  15. What version is the driver you’re using? Did your download the Windows 8 compatible version?
  16. Hi ! After updating to PG Edit 2.0 I could not connect to my account via the program whereas I could access my account directly on Line6 website. So, I could not update firmwares properly. I recently got a laptop with Windows 10/11. My regular machine is running Windows 7 pro. I installed PG Edit on the new laptop and it logs in to my account without any problem. Don't know if the problem is Windows-version related or if it's just how my Windows-Seven computer is set up, but if You are getting the same problem with older OSs it might be the reason. I also have a computer running W8.1 and it seems to work. The rest of PG Edit functions works without any problem. Bye. Jay
  17. No, the Engl Z12 can only send MIDI PC (program change) messages - you can use it switch select presets. It can't send CC messages which are required to do the stuff you asked for.
  18. Had mine for about 9 months and I've basically now settled on a single patch for guitar, with 4 snapshot variations within it. To my mind, the appeal of the Pod Go (and probably all modellers) is that it's an all-under-one-roof solution that plumbs straight in the PA, with no humping heavy gear around up and down flights of stairs. Sound guys love it. It's quick, efficient and sounds more than good enough. It really comes into its own when playing bass as there's nothing more disruptive to a good onstage sound than a thundering great bass rig pounding away. So yeah - for me the depth of the menu is great, but once you've found your sound, lock it in and forget about it :-)
  19. Hi everyone, the Engl Z12 midi controller has 10 switches, which I would like to use to switch between snapshots, turn blocks (e.g. effects) on/off... Has anybody here used this controller (or another Engl midi footcontroller) with the HX Stomp ?! Thanks Vincent
  20. Amp effects loops are notoriously variable. Some pre-amps output a reasonable level to their power amps, and other pre-amps have a very high output, which their power amps expect as an input for them to work effectively. This is particularly so with amps that have cascading gain stages. Some are known to pump out 30 volts from pre-amps, and this will be what they output from their Send. Obviously, their power amps are expecting a similar level to their Return, to match what they would get direct from the pre-amp without the effects loop, but no digital modeller is going to deliver that sort of level. If you have one of these amps, all you can do is to max out everything short of digital clipping as advised by Schmalle. You could try using an "always on" conventional boost pedal between the HX Stomp output and the amp Return.

  22. android v.14 abandoned? no more version update or fix?
  23. Using FS4: You can use a GAIN Block at the end of the signal chain. If you're using a compressor at the end ala Jason Sadites you can use its level. An EQ at the end use its level. A cab at the end use its level. You get the idea.
  24. I'm experimenting with hooking my Stomp up to a Midi Maestro. I've dedicated one page on the Maestro to three functions of the Stomp Looper (top row) and then assigning three Snapshots of the Presets to the bottom three buttons. I've got a Mission Engineering dual switch set as FS 4 and 5 on the Stomp. Four is a boost that's been set in the Output block of all my Presets. Five toggles between the different Modes. Problem: When I kick in the FS4 boost to solo over a loop I've set on the Maestro; the entire track gets boosted along with the solo. So the solo doesn't cut through. Any way I can get around this or am I stuck with having to set a lead Snapshot to make it work? Or a stand alone boost pedal attached to the Stomp (?).
  25. How do I use the Catalyst as a powered speaker? I have a multi effects pedal that I would like to try using. Thanks for any help.
  26. I never use the HPs on either unit, they're normally in different locations (office/studio) and connect to mixers to combine other audio sources. I'm pretty sure that they are known to use different HP amps and that there IS a difference.
