    Hx effects-snapshot bug

I have been using 2.82 on my HX Effects for awhile now, and I’m not having this issue. If you’re sure all the Global Settings are correct, I’d recommend doing a factory reset (hold down FS7 & FS8 while powering up) and restoring from backup afterwards (make sure you create a backup prior to doing the reset).

POD HD500X and HD500 - Sharing Patch Settings

..except that the X version has 20% more DSP resources available thus lifting the reachable DSP maximum limit, to allow if/when needed the creation of particularly complex patches that require more resources. . ..the total number of available blocks in the chain is the same in both POD versions, but each of the available models consumes its particular quantity of resources.. ..and by combining in a patch some very resource hungry models you could easily hit the DSP limit well before having used all the blocks theoretically available.. here and only here is where the 20% more resources available in the X version makes the difference.. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips

Guys who have gone from all tube amp to all digital. Opinions?

I've found if you have an FRFR that can push some air that you can get amp in the room sound... I sure as heck haven't enjoyed my 2 custom tube amps I kept much in a few years now. I have Helix, Axe FX III, and Kemper Stage. I love all 3.

    Hx effects-snapshot bug

Are you SURE that "Snapshot Edits" is set to RECALL? What FW version are you on? Does the FW version match the HX Edit version? BOTH should be 2.82 in order to have all the latest bug fixes and features.

    POD HD and my amp...

you're not going to find me getting into the debate over "real vs memorex" again but .... we just need to make sure we are comparing apples to apples instead of apples to automobiles with apple car play same room sound air push cd sound pa sound computer speaker sound from a youtube video sound take that microphone and move it an inch and it sounds totally different keep that microphone at the same spot but turn up the amp and it sounds totally different keep that microphone at the same spot but use a different mic and it will sound totally different the list of variables is endless so I will leave it at this - the sound comes from one user and is heard by another user, and could even have users making adjustments in between the two. what I create may be different than what you hear which would lead to some odd results when you try to reproduce it for me to hear. as long as you have decent gear and know how to work it, you should be able to create indistinguishable tones

    POD HD and my amp...

Backing tracks playback through a guitar amp certainly would be a quite bad solution. Therefore if you prefer to use a real tube amp with the POD, the backing track playback should be done through flat response monitors/speakers connected to your PC integrated sound card or to an external audio interface other than the POD in this case. In any case you could still use the Editor to tweak the parameters of your POD connected through USB even if you're not using it as audio interface. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  9. If the rod nut access is on the body side of the neck, on a 69 with a "W" prefix in the serial number, then you will have a problem adjusting the rod, as the pick guard will cover the rod access from that side. It would have to be a Warmouth neck with rod nut access at the head-stock. Only the US builds of JTV-69 have the rod nut access on the body side of the neck (with a notched pick guard for access there).
  10. It seems to work - just tried quickly with A and B paths manipulating the mixer B level, B pan and B polar with expression pedal - normal min value and invert max value. Seems to work. Andy Summers seemlessly morphing into John Sykes :-) Try to set someting up tomorrow and check in depth!. Thanks a lot for helping me in the right direction!!. :-) :-)

Guys who have gone from all tube amp to all digital. Opinions?

I went full digital back in GT-10 days and I don't missing carrying all the extra gear and fighting with a guitar cab that sounds different in every room. As far as "amp in the room", you need something that moves air like the cab you're used to or it won't work feel-wise. So either a real guitar cab, Powercab, or probably one of the Friedman options. I tried their wedge 12" speaker and that was the closest to a guitar cab feel I've gotten with full-range speakers. I personally prefer my monitor up on a pole behind me to further decouple from the effects of the stage/room on my sound. I'm also an anomaly among guitarists as I couldn't really give two craps less about "cab feel", since I learned to play and spend 99% percent of time practicing in headphones or monitors, so for me playing guitar has nothing to with the amp or air movement, just hitting the right notes at the right time in the right way. I sure do like having a load in that consists of my pedalboard, my guitar case, and my 12" PA speaker with a pole.

Help with G10 and Ibanez JEM77P

I'm guessing that input jacks are standard, so my money would be on yes.

Guys who have gone from all tube amp to all digital. Opinions?

Seeing you have the HX Effects that means for your "amp model" is your 5150 (pointing out the obvious :) - are you looking for additional amps as well, or just to simplify your setup (once your patches set)? Also, are you maxing out the 9 blocks/preset? I have the Helix LT and run 4CM into my Marshall DSL40C. I went in with the expectation of using my DSL for my amp and Helix for effects only, but then setting up a few patches with amp and cabs so I could use the Helix as a backup if my amp was under repair. That quickly changed after I started messing with the Helix. Some presets are what I expected, just my Marshall and the Helix for effects, however, I also now have a bunch of patches where I use a Helix preamp model and go direct to the effects loop return, so my DSL is just a tube power amp (all in 4CM). Going straight Helix, however, has been a bit of a learning curve for me - especially since I'm now getting into some recording (I'm barley scratching the surface). Thanks to the guys/gals on this board I've learned a lot! Amp in the room vs amp, FRFR speakers, need to get monitors for recording and mixing and not use home stereo speakers, using the Helix as your audio interface, etc. I really get into this stuff and love to learn and play with it - so I don't mind it. For others that are looking for more plug-and-play, going all Helix vs. amp may be a bit more than what they had in mind.

    POD HD and my amp...

I want to use a POD bean pedal for the usb so I can jam along to sounds coming from my PC... I also want the convenience of adjusting my effects via computer with the mouse and not have to be towering over the little buttons of the POD, I got big clumsy hands lol... Lastly I want to enjoy the sweet sound of a tube amp.

    POD HD and my amp...

I just figured from the youtube demos I seen. The sound differed quite a bit mic'd vs DI / USB....
  16. You don't have to worry about the hole placement hitting anything. But, I bought two Warmoth necks with the side adjusting Gotoh box and I won't buy another. I managed to crack the one adjusting box, with very little effort, making it useless. So after that I had to remove the neck to make adjustments. The Gotoh box is made of pot metal and not very sturdy, IMO. My next Warmoth neck will have the truss rod adjustment at the headstock.

POD HD500X and HD500 - Sharing Patch Settings

NO There is no difference between the two units. It is a waste of money to buy one if you own the other. There are literally the same unit. because you are new, I will say the same thing I say to all new people this is not a wah or volume pedal. this is an expression pedal. you have to assign things to it in order for it to work. putting a wah or volume pedal in the signal chain is not enough. you have to also assign the exp pedal to the effect. I say this to make sure that it is the pedal not working and not just a "oh, that is how you do it" situation Also, and depending on what you mean by "it doesn't work", many of us have shaved the rubber that is underneath the pedal. it makes activating easier. You know, just in case it is the on/off part that isn't working.

    Hx effects-snapshot bug

Hello all! i’ve update my hx effects and now i’ve so much problem to set up my snapshot. all settings still remains the same like the last version, but now if i take off or on one or more effects ,hx don’t save or take care any changes. if i turn on an effect in snapshot 1,save ,turn th e same off in snapshot 2 and save, when i return on snapshot 1 ,i find that effect in off!!! repeat,no changes in global settings( snapshot recall, latch ecc). the same bug with hx edit i need your help!!!
  19. Yes it does work that way :) If the HX LOOP is set to LINE level then the output of the SEND to the INPUT of your amp will likely be too hot at it's default settings. Simple, just turn down the send level in the HX so it better matches the input of your amp.
  20. Greetings all, I am replacing the JTV-69 neck with a Warmoth neck. The Warmoth "modern" and "vintage modern" necks have a different truss rod as well as a side adjustment access for the truss rod. Does anyone know if the non standard hole placement on the JTV will hit anything? Has everyone who replaced necks only used their "vintage" necks? Thank you for any insight.
  21. If you can't get it to work, let me know. I can always try fiddling with it myself to see what works best.
  22. Thank you Sir! - this is what I want. I give it a go again. In my attempt to do so I had the mixer block at the beginning. I did not succeed in routing to either A or B for some reason - maybe it works better with the mixer at he end of the signal path. I am happy you say it can be done. It gives me relief to give it a go again! :-)

    212 plus

You're welcome. But maybe it is better to bypass the cabs and store the preset again. The advantage of this is that you can easily use your presets when you want to record something without the PowerCab.
  24. Interesting. I've never needed a clean sound to just fade . . . and to have dirt fade in, or vice versa . . . Still, my thoughts are yes, you can. Most obviously, it seems like if you tied an expression pedal to the drive of a dirt pedal it's pretty much fading in . . ..BUT it sounds like you want something a little more distinctive than this so . . . As you suggested in your original post, another option would be the two signal path approach. A clean signal path (Path A) and a dirty signal path (Path B). Then tie an expression pedal to the mixer block at the very end. Set it to an A/B block, and have the expression pedal control the amount of A and B at any given time, with all the way down on the expression pedal completely shutting off A, and all the way up completely shutting off B. If you move the pedal based on this it will fade in your clean and dirt depending on the position of the pedal. This is just ONE way to get there . . . and it's block intensive, but still it might get you what you're after. In my opinion, the HX line's greatest strength, even beyond the quality of its modeling, is the huge routing possibilities. There is usually a MULTIPLE ways to achieve something. The challenge is thinking them up, and choosing the best one.

    adjusting volume levels across presets

That really depends upon the sound you're trying to achieve. Gain blocks will interact with other blocks within the signal chain to produce unique sounds/distortion depending upon what you have after it. If you like that . . . great . . .if not, don't do it. In regards to the original poster, they were using an HX Stomp which has only 6 blocks. When I was using the Stomp, and because of that unique limit, anytime I could get away with using the output block OR some level option (such as on the amp) I would go that route instead.
  26. Are you sure you understand what codamedia is saying? He's referring to the level adjuster on the FX block. If you set the Stomp's "left send" to line level, and you discover that that's too high, you can then use the FX block in the signal path to reduce the volume of the left send, essentially bringing it down to instrument level. The HX line has tons of level options within a signal chain for balancing all of this crap out. It's been a while since you got the feedback above, what happened when you experimented? Did it work?

    Snapshots Helix LT

Well . . . the answer is yes you can use them all. Both devices allow for 8 snapshots. So when you try to do it, what do you see? Only some of them?
