    2.82 Update

This forum is littered with any/all potential issues.... the majority (but not all) were when people failed to follow the instructions. If you follow these instructions starting at "Updating to 2.82 from 2.71 or Earlier (READ ME!)" (that is about half way down the page) you will be fine. https://line6.com/support/page/kb/effects-controllers/helix/helixhx-282-release-notes-r928/
  3. yo! Brue, I just got my PC212 and I want to use let say the cream speaker. Now in my Helix do I have to bypass the speaker cab in the patch so the cream speaker in the PC212 will work and sound right.

    ReAmping with SPDIF

There's two Helix presets involved. The recording preset, and the re-amping preset. RECORD - EFFECTED PATH RECORD - CLEAN PATH The EFFECTED PATH is panned hard left and is carried on S/PDIF 1. The CLEAN PATH is panned hard right and is carried on S/PDIF 2. In your DAW, set one track to record S/PDIF 1 (EFFECTED TRACK). S/PDIF 1 is what Reaper calls Helix S/PDIF 1. Create a second track to record S/PDIF 2. S/PDIF 2 is what Reaper calls Helix S/PDIF 2. Send the OUTPUT to S/PDIF 1/2 (whatever channel #s your DAW uses for that, Reaper uses 11/12, as the Focusrite Analog Outputs are numbered 1-10). Set up a third track to record the re-amped signal, taking it's INPUT from S/PDIF 1/2. In your Routing SW, MUTE the incoming S/PDIF to prevent feedback. RECORD ACTIVATE tracks 1 and 2. You might want to turn off track monitoring on the CLEAN track. Load the Helix preset you want to record, set up as above with EFFECTED and CLEAN paths. Record your piece. RE-AMP Now load the HX RE-AMPING preset. Deactivate RECORD on the two recorded tracks. MUTE the EFFECTED track. Turn off track monitoring on the CLEAN track so you only hear the re-amped track RECORD ACTIVATE the re-amping track. In your routing SW, UN-MUTE the S/PDIF Outputs. Record. This SHOULD send the CLEAN track out of your DAW, into Helix S/PDIF 1/2 IN, through the re-amping preset and back out Helix S/PDIF OUT to the RE-AMPING track. The trick, as I mentioned, is in the routing SW, muting the S/PDIF Channel fro Helix to DAW while recording to prevent feedback, and un-muting it to allow the signal to flow from DAW to Helix and back to the DAW. Obviously, you'll have to figure out what your NI SW calls the Focusrite/Reaper equivalents. I've attached sample Helix presets to help with the Screenshots. Hope this gets you there. Hope I didn't leave anything out, lots of steps! Did I mention how much simpler this all is with Helix NATIVE? :-) re-amping.hlx recording.hlx

    2.82 Update

The only issue I had was some errors when selecting Snapshots but that’s about it. Just be sure you follow the instructions to the letter. Go Slowly and Pay Attention!
  11. I’m convinced it’s a software issue because if you roll back it’s not there! If enough of us complain maybe they would do something about it?

Quick question about updating firmware from 2.7

Just updated from 2.54 - all went to plan...

Native Demo constantly freezing Logic Pro.

This forum of full of other folks with the same problem. I understand companies trying to devise copy protection schemes when pirating is so common, but in this case Line 6 obviously did a bad job. So, for you #1 comment, I and many others totally agree. And, for #2, (in my experience) after you authorize the plug-in, it the darned thing stops calling home.
  14. Yes, you won’t get stereo unless you use two amps. 1. When using a DT you are using the power amp in the DT so you can use preamp models from the pod. However, use your ears and just use what sounds good to you. 2. I tend to use combo/stack power amp (emulating going in the fx loop) but again, see what sounds best to you. 3. Have fun!

    2.82 Update

What were your issues? I'm about to update my Helix LT from 2.7 to 2.82, and would like to know about every potential issue.

Quick question about updating firmware from 2.7

Nothing special to keep in mind - just follow the instructions carefully. You can update directly to the latest version.

POD HD 500X can't connect to Edit?

Check the last 2 announcements at the top of this page which are about issues you might have and solutions to make the POD working with Mac computers. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
  19. I wanted to wait it out until the new firmware is tried and tested, so i have not updated yet. I'm still on v2.7 on my Helix LT. Is there anything special to keep in mind when i update to the latest release, or is it enough just to stick to the instructions? Can i update directly to the latest, or do i need to do intermediary updates?

    FR: "Global Blocks"

I don't even disagree that this might be fine for plenty of folks - yet, it's all up to the kind of jobs you do. As said, I'm often doing "last minute telephone band" gigs. So I really have no idea what's going to happen. And for such gigs, I need to be able to quickly do some global adjustments, sometimes even within a song. And I wouldn't want to perform these operations on multiple patches, even in case it's just 3 or 4, let alone redoing them or finetuning them later on, should I notice that I turned up the treble knob too much.

    FR: "Global Blocks"

I think for a lot of people having snapshots is sufficient for there live use. I know that’s the case for me. I will typically use like three or four presets in a show, but each of them is set up with 8 snapshots. So that gives me a lot of flexibility when it comes to getting a wide variety of sounds out of a single amp model.

    Helix FRFR options

I'm currently using 2 Headrush FRFR-112 with my LT, set as stereo output. Sounds great. I've set them on upright stands at (sitting) ear height. Not had an issue.

    FR: "Global Blocks"

I've seen various suggestions along these lines. For whatever reasons, they always seem to get very little votes. Maybe there's not *that* much live players among Helix users, no idea - because this is something I'm sure many live players would dig a lot. I'm just had an idea about how this could perhaps be a rather transparent thing (and likely easier to code, too). Will post later.

    Helix FRFR options

I pretty much subscribe to what Sascha sais. Another couple of things. I have a Yamaha DXR10. The tone control is not for mid bump, but for low cut If the speaker is on the floor, it will generate unwanted extra lows. You can avoid them using a speaker stand, or cutting them through the onboard DSP. Moreover , if there’s enough room onstage, make sure to stand not too close to the speaker. You will avoid extra bass from near-field effect.
  25. I’m so glad I’m not alone in making a JTV transplant guitar. This work is amazing! I’m taking the easy way with a 335 body using the JTV 59 as the donor.

    Helix Bug Reports

Hi Gary, I’m a little surprised that you didn’t find anything in the forum regarding this issue, as I posted a couple of times recently. Anyhow, I suggest that you take a look at the post I made here, for a possible solution and it saves me typing everything again. And also here: https://line6.com/support/topic/48426-hx-edit-28-firmware-28-and-native-18-now-available-for-download-in-case-you-missed-it/?tab=comments#comment-304013
