  3. You could try a reset or reinstall the firmware... .... but after that length of time I suspect it's a hardware issue. Open a support ticket to see what your options are.
  4. Have you explored the Customtone site (see top of this page)? Filtering for the Catalyst amp series I see 121 presets/tones available for download. Perhaps some of them will provide at least a starting point for further tweaking.
  5. HI, Have you considered that you could possibly use your Neural Plug-in an a similar fashion to how you would connect an external hardware amp sim, such as the Strymon Iridium. Your Focusrite 8i6 has enough ins and outs to give this a try. Set up a patch on your Helix to with whatever dirt/fuzz/OD blocks you want then a Send/Return block out to the Focusrite and into your DAW and Neural Plug-in. The output from the DAW goes back to the Focusrite and back to the Return on the Helix, which is followed by whatever time based FX, unique delay/reverbs you wish going to the stereo outputs. the Helix stereo outs then go back into the Focusrite to be recorded on a different track. J I'm not sure if it will work exactly how you want, but give it a shot, you have enough patching options available. A bit of careful planning is required to make sure you have all your audio ins and outs set up correctly. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  6. It is possible to use the Helix device to re-amp a signal from your DAW. That procedure is described in the manual using the Helix device as your audio interface. It can be adapted to use your Focusrite if you want but it’s really a standalone procedure that you might as well use Helix as the temporary interface for. However, it seems to me that you can’t use it with another plugin in the middle of the chain as you wish. The reamp procedure takes a track from your DAW and routes it through Helix processing with the output being recorded to a new track in your DAW. Seems to me you would need to record a dry guitar track, apply your Neural DSP plugin for any pre-processing to that track, reamp this signal through Helix to create a new track, and then apply Neural DSP again to that track for final processing. And if you want to change the Neural processing in the original track you will need to reamp it again. I’m not aware of any way to integrate the Helix reamp procedure into an existing track in the same way that plugins operate.
  7. That’s an old product. Might as well keep it and use it as long as it’s still working but you’re right - if it’s not already it will soon be left behind as computer operating systems evolve. Personally I wouldn’t buy one today. Line 6 no longer makes standalone audio interfaces so I would look at offerings from other manufacturers. Focusrite audio interface products are frequently mentioned here but I don’t use one so can’t make a recommendation. Google is your friend. The only thing you might miss is a license to the original (pre v2.5) POD Farm product. This license was often bundled with a UX2 purchase. So if you use POD Farm and sell your UX2 you will need to purchase a new hardware independent (v2.5) POD Farm license.
  8. I appreciate the time you put into uploading a clip. The clip made me more convinced that there is no or negligible audible difference between said firmware versions.
  9. Hello, Is there a way to combining the Helix (not the native plugin) with other guitar plugins, for example Neural DSP's? I want, for example, to use Helix's effects blocks (such as fuzz, unique delays, etc..) with Neural DSP plugin in the middle of the chain. Is that possible or imaginary dream :) ? - If that's possible, what is the way to connect - I have a Focusrite 8i6 audio interface. Thanks so much for the help.
  10. My description and his diagram, plus the descriptions and diagrams in the manual, should be enough. But you say it's working, so ROCK ON!
  11. yes and im just checking...it seems to be working....and I thought my previous post just confirmed what your diagram depicted...If im still messing up then I guess I suck at following diagrams
  12. After 12 years of outstanding service my HD 300 has died. Everything lights up but no sound is coming out. Tried different guitar leads, headphones but nnothing. Anyone have any ideas to the problem?
  13. Yesterday
  14. See my diagram above. That why I put it there. It answers your questions if you would just look at it. There's a guitar, an amp and a Line 6 processor in the middle. The green lines are your cables and connections. The red text identifies the physical connections (jacks) on the Line 6 unit. Inside the rectangle depicting the Line 6 unit is the path and the blocks. Input block (then blocks for wah, compression, distortion, etc) Loop block (then blocks for chorus, delay, reverb, etc) Output block. When placing blocks, dynamics, filters and distortion go before the loop block and time based models go after the loop block.
  15. thank you for you input... that was exaclty it... in the manual i don't ever recall having it explain the difference between post and pre.... i appreciate the answer and help. cheers
  16. different EQ. check your global EQ. I've been using the Helix since 2.8 and never had any sound changes during an upgrade.
  17. I have owned my Helix LT for about 6 years and love it. I needed a backup to my LT that was closer in functionality than my old POD HD500, so I purchased a brand new Stomp XL after exploring various options and doing some research on the XL. I noticed immediately on powering it on that volume output was way lower on the XL than my LT. I went ahead and set up an equivalent to my favorite custom patch on my LT - I went block by block and set every dial the way they are set on my LT, but still there's a huge difference in volume. LT set at 55% roughly the same as the XL at 85%. Wondering if it was just a difference in headphone output, I checked with my FRFR hooked up, but the same issue persists - way lower volume on a roughly equivalent patch. My HD500 behaves very similar to my LT volume wise. I've gone through all the menu settings and found no setting that would explain the drop in volume, so I ask the community - am I missing something? Did I receive a dud? Both LT and XL are on patch 3.71.
  18. So it should go like this? Input>wah> FX Loop L >delay>chorus> Output
  19. Judge yourself. Just a few tones, 3 Samples , each 292 followed by 370. 1. Factory 1-001 , 2. Some Dire Straits patch from somewhere , 3. Factory 1-072. In my ears 370 sounds much flatter, crackling and shrill, 290 richer, warmer and more natural. https:/rjkole.com/p_temp/Helix.wav All samples have been normalized. Ok, 370 to 371, my mistake, but may be interesting how things change sometimes.
  20. You need an FX Loop L block in the path for it to work. Also for unity gain make sure Global Settings -> Ins/Outs -> Input Level, Output Level and Send/Return L are set to Inst. Also crank the VOLUME knob.
  21. SO now i have it on a blank preset and still not getting my "true amp sound" its like the distortion isn't coming through and none of my amp controls affect the sound at all. So then I hit the bypass on the line 6 effects unit and still same thing...no true amp sound...and amp controls don't affect the sound including volume and gain....So it must be the way I have everything routed,,,Doesn't seem like how I have everything in HX edit is the issue I have guitar>Stomp input(L Mono) Stomp L Mono output > Amp return stomp L mono return> Amp Send Stomp Stereo Send > AMP input
  22. Hi i have a used Catalyst 60 (2022) i did register it with Line 6 a few weeks back. I have a ESP LTD 256 that I purchased a few week back ( my 2nd guitar). I’m a 60 year old beginner ( I don’t know why it took me so long to start playing electric guitar…I wished I would have started much earlier in life because I hav throughly enjoy messing around with this amp and guitar) I have downloaded the app for this amp to my iPad and trying to learn how to set it up either manually or on the app for a blues tone and my guitar tone also. I have noticed and fooled around with 12 presets already installed on this amp, however I don’t know if these presets were defaults or loaded by the previous owner , however the all sound good to me. i would appreciate any help with setting up my amp/ guitar for a blues tone. thank you
  23. I believe the original premise of this topic was: Upgrading from 3.7 to 3.7.1 sounds different. It seems to have morphed into "things sound different between 2.x and 3.7.1". I understand why somebody doesn't want to deal with redoing all of their presets, but we shouldn't be surprised that it sounds different. There are a massive number of changes implemented and I don't believe Line 6 implied "everything will sound the same".
  24. I've read there are some major compatilibity issues with modern systems in the mentioned model. It's actually a bit dated. Is there some modern computer interface that's equivalent to UX2? I have the option of either keep UX2 or sell it and buy something new. If I buy any newer product, would I miss anything from the old one? Please give some advice.
  25. Mind sharing some comparison clips to convince a doubting spirit like me?
  26. Today i sat down for many hours comparing 292 with 370 using the exact same settings, same speakers, same guitar, same phrases with the same 10 different presets (from 292 and settings backup) on both firmwares, eq is OFF of corse. The recodings clearly showed a difference. 370 against 292 produces way more treble (hiss, hsss, sss) which may gives the impression of a somehow "clearer" sound, but makes certain presets sound rather like a behringer vamp then a helix . 292 sounds way warmer to me (slight lower trebble or upper mid boost), the antialiasing is there but not in the way. I do not know what Line 6 did, but 370 sounds definatly worse then 292. Too much sss hsss, shhh, certain presets sound rather flat compared to 292. 370 sounds like the signal goes through a slight final compression with a misaligned exiter. I have no idea when these "changes" have been introduced, so ill stick with 292 for now. Dont really have the nerve to try out 196 different firmwares in order just to sneak a few new effects. For the everage or new user the difference may be not noticable, but when comparing recordings side by side you clearly notice the difference. The difference is less noticable on presets with lots of delay and reverb, but rather on tight dry presets which are supposed to sound clear. 370 seems to overdo it somehow with "fidelity" which you (i) dont really need in the studio. You may try a Strat with a Dire Straits preset in position Pickup 4 then you may know what i am talking about. When i first tried 370 i immediately had the impression of beeing something not right, now i know for shure. The only positive thing about 370 i could discover soundwise was less antialiasing like descibed IIRC around 350, heights sound cleaner, but there are too many of them unfortunately.
  27. Thanks, guys. I’ll have a play later
  28. Just use a Send L block in front of the cab block. This way the signal for the power amp / physical cab is on the Send Out.
