  2. If I have my POD HD500 connected my Mac via USB, whenever I unplug it, my keyboard and mouse stop working completely. I need to restart my computer to use them again. This seems to have started with Mojave, bu I can't remember for certain. Has anyone else had similar issue or know of a fix? Thanks.

No "Mode" Option - Stuck in Snapshot

Correct, I do not believe I am accidentally entering Snapshot mode. Even if I did, once in Snapshot mode, the Helix does not allow a return to the original Stomp/Snap mode. I have tried pressing FS1+FS7 simultaneously after the bug occurs, and that allows me to switch between other modes... unfortunately, doing so never returns to the original (and desired) Stomp/Snap mode.

Digitakt MIDI triggering loop start/stop on Line6 Helix?

After a quick look at the Digitakt manual, the simple answer as far as I can tell is: you can't. The Helix Looper can be controlled via MIDI using CC (Continuous Controller) messages (page 57 of the manual). While it appears that the Digitakt can be CONTROLLED using CC messages, it can only be programmed (as far as I can tell) to SEND MIDI NOTE messages. If you're planning on using a computer in your act then there's software that can turn NOTE messages into CC messages: https://www.bome.com/products/miditranslator Is one. I believe that they also make a programmable HW device that allows you to eliminate the computer for performance. If you decide to look into these, keep in mind that there's a price to be paid in latency, though I don't know how significant it is, or whether it would matter for your purposes.

Helix to control Logic X (Backing Tracks) via Midi

Since I abhor anything MAC, I've been waiting for the MAC kids to jump in here. That said, MIDI is MIDI. If the Helix is communicating with LOGIC (you can send a command to control SOMETHING), then if you can be step-by-step VERY specific about what MIDI commands need to be sent and when, I can probably help.
  9. It may also depend on what settings you have for the Guitar In-Z input impedance. Impedance values from low to high (22k, 32k, 70k, 90k, 136k, 230k, 1M, or 3.5M) on POD 500x. Not sure what the impedance is default for the VDI input, as the Guitar In-Z setting affects the GUITAR IN input only. Jd
  10. Hey fellow musicians! Well, the question is kinda simple. Can I/how do I make the Digitakt trigger the Line6 Helix’s looper to start and stop via MIDI? If it is possible please explain it to me in details as I am pretty new to the MIDI world and really have a hard time understanding all the CC messages and so on… Note: I already have my Digitakt sending MIDI cloc, so that the Line6 Helix’s tempo is in sync - I just need it to make a loop that fits(starts and ends) perfectly in grid. Thanks in advance!! <3

    CC Assign Snapshot Issue

Well, as rd2rk said, that limits the amount of available parameters for that workaround to 0 (EXP3 will be used from tomorrow on). Fwiw, I know CCs aren't sending a continous data stream - but all it'd take to adress the problem would be to have an option to simply exclude parameters from snapshots. Just as it is with switches and just as it is when controlling any parameter onboard.

    CC Assign Snapshot Issue

I like to think of the Helix MIDI implementation as an ongoing project. Unfortunately, since the only MIDI nerds who seem to be interestedare you, me and some dude in Podunk, Idaho, L6 is not likely to be putting a lot of resources into it. If you put it on Ideascale, post a link here. I'll vote for it! Don't know about the Podunk dude, I think he has a metered Internet connection.....

    CC Assign Snapshot Issue

That works! Unfortunately, it's a very limited workaround, as it limits the number of MIDI Controllers you can use to the number of unused Expression Pedals available. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.... Thanks phil!

Helix LT - flabby broken up distortion tones. Help!

gunpointmetal, gunxsword, bbd_123, Thanks, I've been doing some more exploring. I think with the global guitar pad on and copying and noodling with some presets that sound okay I'll get there. I downloaded some quite high gain presets from the line6 web site and some actually sound pretty good on the strat. So, there is a formula in there somewhere that can have things sounds good - I just have to do the forensics and work backwards to learn what those presets do. Part of my education on modelling I guess. If I find the magic sauce I'll post back here. :-) Thanks again.

Capture your own IRs? What are you using?

Thats unless you are doing "merged" profiles. In this case the Amp profile is separated from the Cab (so you can swap them as desired). ; )
  19. I have the same thing going on. I opened a Support Ticket on Thursday...still waiting for a solution.

Capture your own IRs? What are you using?

I appreciate all the comments. I've been through hundreds of existing IRs, I have pro mics and pre amps, I record guitar for a living (for better or worse :). I have found a few available ones that come close to what I want. Just wanting to capture what I actually use and port it over to Helix or other devices. I think the processes described above will work for me, as soon as I have time to chase it down. Again, thanks. I know more now than I did when I posted.

    CC Assign Snapshot Issue

Once you assign a parameter to any controller, the value that it's set to when the snapshot is saved will be recalled with the snapshot. This is true for all controllers. The exceptions are the EXP1, 2 and 3 controllers. If you have the EXP# Position parameter set to Global or Per Preset, than the actual position of the pedal will dictate the value of the parameter. The challenge with this particular issue has to do with the very nature of MIDI itself. The MIDI controller isn't sending a steady stream of data. It only sends data when it changes position. So the Helix doesn't have a way to track a position of an external knob or pedal. It can only know the value of the CC when it receives it. The one workaround maybe to assign the Level parameter to EXP3 (if you're not actually using EXP3 for anything else) and assign the associated CC (CC#3) to the MIDI controller knob/fader you want to use. If you do that and set the EXP3 Position parameter to Global or Per Preset, the saved value may be overridden, but I'm not completely sure about that.

Spider Valve Valve HD 100 MKII

So bought a Spider Valve HD 100 MKII and was kind of confused, I for some reason was under the impression it had the same patches as the Spider Valve HD100. They patches are totally different, there aren't any of the artists settings at all or any good metal settings. Looks like I'll be tinkering with it lol...anybody have any good settings they would like to share??

Capture your own IRs? What are you using?

And fwiw, capturing IRs from real speakers isn't exactly a trivial process. Ok, well, it even kind of is, in case you got the right hardware - which includes a good mic or a few (including the knowledge to place them), a room to set things up and a neutral power amp to play back the sine sweep. Capturing and deconvolving isn't too tough, there's free tools and explanations around, in case you own Logic, Apples Impulse Response utility comes with it - so, the procedure is easy, but what most people lack of is decent mics, rooms and possibly even a decent neutral poweramp. Anyhow, IMO there's more than enough IRs around already and with a little knowledge about the procedure, you'll be able to modify and mix them to suit your needs.
  24. SaschaFranck

Capture your own IRs? What are you using?

You could probably try to mix and match your own IRs out of existing ones. It's pretty easy to do. In case you're interested, I'll explain the procedure.

Helix LT- is exp. pedal still an issue?

And even if the above weren't true, you can never tell how long a unit has sat in a retailer's inventory before it makes it's way to your living room. The truth is a handful of those the defective units might still be getting sold 3 years from now... that's why they've extended the warranty on this particular issue forever. Regardless, if you want one, buy one... if you let the possibility of getting a bum unit affect your decision, you'll never buy anything. Every product on earth has it's batch of lemons.

No "Mode" Option - Stuck in Snapshot

I was just about to post that as it happened to me before I knew about that function. Switched the up/down buttons to Snapshot up/down after that (I will never switch presets live), so I will at least not accidentally leave the patch.

No "Mode" Option - Stuck in Snapshot

Are you sure you're not accidentally entering Snapshot Mode by hitting both Bank Up and Down switches at the same time?

Helix LT- is exp. pedal still an issue?

The issue with the LT expression pedal actually didn't have anything to do with the pedal itself. It had to do with some defective housings that were incorrectly stamped by a couple of metal fabrication machines at the plant. Those pieces were thrown in with all the housings created by other machines, and this happens before the units are given a serial number. If you can imagine, they just have big bin of housing that they pick from as they're making the unit. Now it's been long enough that all of those housing should be out of the system, but there are still reports of broken pedals that come trickling in. It has definitely slowed down. Regardless of all of that, Line 6 has issued a no questions asked, lifetime replacement warranty for any LT that has this issue. So even you bought it secondhand and the standard warranty is expired, Line 6 will still give you a free replacement. So you shouldn't worry about it.
