  2. I set my return from the Helix to -4db, that helped me a lot. I also have it set to line level, and just like you, I modified my FX loop to serial. Mesa should just put a switch on their amps that let you change to serial FX loops. I also had to put some time into dialing in the Helix. I noticed some of the dirt boxes didn't sound so good with the Rectifier -- like the OCD. Since we have the same amp, I can post my patch this evening when I get home.

    Helix Firmware Upgrade 2.8 - Blues :(

Unnerving is such an odd word to describe what you're feeling while waiting for a firmware update... It's really not that big of a deal. It will happen in due course.

New Helix LT user: Helix into combo amp questions

Ideally you should be plugging the Helix output into the effects return of the Marshall which will then use only the power amp portion of the amp allowing you to get the clean and accurate modeling output of the Fender Twin through the Marshall power amp and cabinet. Because you're using a physical cabinet you wouldn't typically use the modeled cabs or any IRs in your signal chain.

    HX stomp USB noise

When you say the level knob, are you talking about the physical volume knob on the unit? That has no effect on the USB audio. Only the level in the preset will affect that. It sounds like you just have your presets created at a relatively low volume. Again, it's not really that big of a deal if the level going into your DAW is sort of low. With 24 bit digital audio, you really don't lose any fidelity by recording at lower levels. It actually gives you more flexibility while mixing. But if you want things louder, go to the output block, and increase the level parameter there. You can increase the preset volume by up to 20dB there. As far as the power supply, that's not really the issue. If it were grounded, it could actually be more problematic. The ground on a power supply isn't there for noise reason, but simply for safety issues. The Stomp falls below the threshold, load-wise, where a grounded power supply is required.

New Helix LT user: Helix into combo amp questions

Generally if you are playing directly into a real amp you are not going to use modeled amps, preamps, or cabinet sounds. But that is a basic guideline. If you want to experiment with using the preamp sounds or even the full amp sounds I recommend doing it with no cab or IR model. Also check the settings for output on helix for instrument and line level and try both to see if that helps with the sound your trying to get. Then mess around with with some of the different EQ blocks in helix after that to see if that helps you recreate the sound you are going for, and helps you find the feedback frequency you are trying to get. I haven't used a Digitech RP500 but since its an older and cheaper product I'm guessing the cabinet modeling in it was probably acting as more of a basic EQ, while cabs in helix or IRs are creating a very complex EQ that might not help you (or it might but I would try that last)

    HX stomp USB noise

I have the level knob all the way up on my hx stomp and the input signal I receive in my DAW is very low, which requires me to increase it by 15 db to reach a decent waveform. I think it's really a lot to increase a recordings by more than 3-4 db's. I just found out that the power adaptor of the HX stomp is not grounded. Could be that the reason of my annoying ground noise? If so, (apart from wondering why Line 6 engineers did not thought of a grounded power adapter) which power adapter I could buy to solve the issue? Furthermore, could I solve the problem by buying a filtered power strip?

    Helix Firmware Upgrade 2.8 - Blues :(

Logic has no place on the internet...it interferes with all the baseless speculation. If we all started thinking about things, how would we get a decent gripe and whine off the ground? ;) "The Gripe and Whine" would be a great name for a $hitty dive bar...

    Helix Firmware Upgrade 2.8 - Blues :(

The way I see it... The last day of Spring is June 20th and any day the update comes before that is a bonus not a disappointment. IMO that is an odd thing to be "unnerved" about. They could have said nothing.... leaving you wondering if you would ever see another update ever again. Forever worried they might pull a Fractal and hide the next update inside a new hardware unit. There are a couple of features in 2.8 that I plan on using extensively.... knowing about this update in advance gave me the chance to pre-plan how I might use it differently.

    Helix Bug Reports

Hi, First thing to try is run through the Factory Reset options and see if it clears the bug. Make a back up of all your presets first then try. HX Stomp 1. All 3 Footswitches clears all presets/IRs 2. FS1+2 resets presets and IRs 3. FS 2+3 does a factory restore (globals, presets, IRs) Option 3 may be the best way to put it back to normal. If none of these work, then you should raise a ticket with Customer Support. Hope this helps/makes sense.

    HX Stomp FAQ

Hi, “ttkfirst”, I wouldn’t hold my breath, waiting for a response from DI on this forum. The best thing to do to contact Eric (Klein) would be to post on TGP or the Helix group on Facebook. Line 6 staff rarely bother to post on here. As for your question, I’m not certain because I don’t own a Stomp, but I don’t think that is possible. If I am giving you the wrong information then someone on here will, no doubt correct me. If you’re using the USB for recording via a DAW you could listen to the metronome, or click from that! Regards

    Helix Firmware Upgrade 2.8 - Blues :(

I'm excited about the new features, sure, but I'm more excited that they are continuing to work on and improve this product. You could argue that some people buy it because line 6 does updates but I actually bought it for what it did at the time of purchase. So I'm fine with them announcing in advance what they are releasing in the next update... even if it's months in advance. For some it will save having to post in idea scale. As with some of the others I'm most excited about the additions to command centre. it'll get here and it'll be great...
  18. Hi there, I am new to Helix but not to multi-effect pedals. I used a Digitech 500 for 11 years, and while I notice a noticeable improvement in the effects, I am having issues with getting the tone I need to play live. I play a PRS Mark Tremonti passive guitar with a Marshall AVT 50 combo amp. I play the Marshall only on the clean channel. I am emulating a Fender twin with a metal zone distortion. I I have a few problems. I play in a hard rock band, and I need to be able to do feedback. I haven't been able to get any good feedback (just the ear splitting kind). Any tips for that? I understand that you need to crank the gain for feedback, but one of the problems I am having with my amp is that I have to crank it with the Helix. When I do that it starts to break up, and I need it as clean as possible. I understand that the amp will colour my tone, but I never had this issue with my old pedal. I have a feeling I am missing some setting. Also, do you have some general tips for going straight into a combo amp in terms of placement of amp, cabinet etc? Should I be using preamp amp and cab if I am already using an amp that colours my sound? Thanks for any help you can give!

    HX Stomp Question

Hi, If you look at the illustration and info on page 8 of the HX Stomp Owner’s Manual, Hybrid Amp/Direct Setup. This seems to be what you require if you adjust the send block to suit. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a4010c935bb66a4c0c44f/application/pdf/HX Stomp Manual - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.

    HX Stomp Question

Hello, I was wonderwing if with the HX Stomp i can get 1 signal chain with effects/amp modeling/IR impulse to go to the FOH, and a second signal with just effects/amp modeling to my power amp and cab (so without IR impulse). Thanks in advance!! Greetz Wouter

    Helix Native Problem

I am still unhappy ! Thank God I don't have to pay you a line fee. ;-) I couldn't find the option "Shutdown Settings" with deactivation of "Save Changes" on my PC. Even if I look at the Windows help and compare it with my screen, I see differences. Maybe because it was an update from WIN7 Pro or because it is German. Anyway, I found a batch file that forces Win10 to shut down completely. A restart now doesn't open the programs that were running at shutdown. I have removed the WLAN stick that I otherwise need to operate my digital mixer (Behringer XR16). Furthermore I changed the Power Settings to "highest Performance". At autostart I deactivated all additional services. Now in a hopeful mood I uninstalled Helix-Native again, deleted all additional data in the user area (program data etc), started the complete shutdown batch file and reinstalled Native. I have become a bit smarter as far as Windows is concerned, but Native called via Reaper still reports the same error. :-( Other AMP simulation VST's work fine with Reaper, so I can leave the Helix LT in the rehearsal room to practice at home. The notebook (on which Native works) is for my old eyes only short time to endure. That was not the purpose of the investment. Obviously I have to wait further until the support is able to send a helpful instruction.

    Helix Native Problem

Well, Line 6 isn't a small shop - if it really is a problem in principle, I hope for a speedy recovery.
  26. Hi everyone. I'm having an issue connecting my trusty old AxeFX standard to my PC via the Helix Rack midi ports so i can edit the axe's patches with AxeEdit. It just wont connect, At most, after trying every possible settings in the MIDI setup on the helix rack, is that axe edit will send change tempo messages but that's it, no syncing no nothing. Axe Edit works fine if i connect it directly to my 6i6 mk2 interface via midi but not through my helix rack. Helix is set on channel 1 and axe fx on channel 2. I've changed the channels all day yesterday, but still no dice. Any ideeas ?
