  2. I will try redoing the firmware and see what happens if anything. Thanks!

I have been using a GK3 on my JTV89F for about 3 years with no issues. I just trimmed the backside of the rear pickup ring and this gives just enough room to install the pickup. In my case I epoxied the pickup to the edges of the ring to eliminate any movement or shifting. (I have 6 guitars of all types with GK3's installed) Has worked great.
  4. That is exceedingly weird. You would have had to turn the individual string volumes for those two models down to zero, and then saved them to the guitar.... it's obviously having a brain fart somewhere. If it were a piezo problem you wouldn't have sound on those strings on any of the models. Try re-flashing the firmware... that's really the only thing you can try. If that doesn't fix it, then it's service ticket time.

    Helix II

The DSP bit wasn't L6's idea, as I recall... the old chip that ran the 500's was no longer available, so they were forced into an "upgrade". Why they chose to replace the footswitches is anybody's guess. Regardless, I wouldn't expect any changes to the Helix hardware anytime soon unless their hand is forced again. Once production is tooled-up, changing the recipe costs money. Without a compelling reason to do so, it really isn't in their be$t intere$t.
  6. My JTV89F (Floyd Rose Bridge) is acting weird. The high E and B strings do not work on the Tele & Strat modeling settings. However all strings work fine on all the other modeling settings. Don't think I can blame this on a bad piezo insert since the Les Paul and other settings all work on all 6 strings. Checked setting on Workbench and found no anomalies. Transferred standard modeling settings from Workbench to the guitar to make sure all updated but did not change anything. Any help out there?

    Helix Bug Reports

Trying to update top HX Edit 2.82 on Mac with most up-to-date Catalina. I don't load the disk image. run it and get and error "“HX Edit.pkg” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software." If this is a known problem, I can't find it in the forum. In any case, I can't update.

Pod HD Pro (No X) Lifespan

Probably quite a long time... Line 6 is still updating drivers for products going back to the PODxt, and that came out in 2002.
  9. Today
  10. Greetings! It is time to retire my Focusrite interfaces because they are no longer supported by the Mac OSX update. (Long story of firewire and adapters for years...64bit etc...) I bought a Line 6 Pod HD Pro years ago, and it sat on the shelf because it didn't really suit my needs... However, I am able to "re-use" it now that I have lost support for my sound card! To you old school Line 6 people...or even someone higher up...? How many years can I "expect" it to remain compatible with something like OSX? Is ten years sort of standard for a sound card lifespan? Is it maybe longer because it uses USB instead of... say... a rotating line of "speedy interfaces"? :P I know we ALL want to KNOW how much time we have left! But that answer isn't always available! Any info would be appreciated! Thank you! :)

Can't get into Stomp Box mode?

It appears I'm mistaken. It's 2.81. Sweetwater did actually open the box and update it prior to shipping though. Just not sure when that happened. I'll back up and update tonight, and hopefully that will be that.

POD HD 500X Driver Version fail installation

The POD communicates with your computer over USB using the industry standard ASIO protocol. This protocol requires that the same audio device is used for both input (recording) and output (playback). Hence you can't assign the Playback device to be your PC speakers while continuing to use the POD as the recording device for your DAW. There are some drivers (e.g. ASIO4ALL) that simulate an ASIO protocoal and allow you to assign different input and output devices but they are known to cause problems when used with fully ASIO compliant audio devices such as the POD.

No Mod Locking Tuners for Vax Standard

Also, be sure the strings have a 12 to 15 degree breaking angle between the string nut and tuner post hole.

No Mod Locking Tuners for Vax Standard

There are several things to consider: 1) The diameter of the hole that the tuner sits in. 2) The position of the mounting screw on the back of the headstock. 3) Some tuners have a small post that protrudes from underneath which serves as an anchor, in lieu of a mounting screw...some older Sperzel tuners had these. This would require drilling a small hole to accommodate the post. This is less likely to be the case though, as the ones you picked clearly have a mounting screw. #2 is often a problem. Even if they otherwise fit, the position of the mounting screws is not universal... they can be anywhere. You'd have to see if the ones you want have that mounting screw in the same position as the stock ones...if the stock ones have them at all. If not, you'll be drilling and/or filling holes.

POD HD 500X Driver Version fail installation

Hurghanico, but if the POD can be used to rout audio to your DAW you should also be able to rout audio to the PC speakers. I would think calling up Recording Devices (right-click the speaker icon) and selecting the POD and then call up Payback Devices and select your normal speakers should work. Unfortunately I am not in a place to test this out right now. I know I was able to do this many years ago but abandoned it because latency was pretty bad, if I remember correctly.

HX Stomp: extnal footswitch with LED ?

The one I was looking at was the new Disaster Area Designs Midi Baby. It's a great size for the Stomp, and you have some control over the led choices. https://www.disasterareaamps.com/shop/midi-baby Edit: To be clear, the Stomp won't control the LEDs of the Midi Baby. However, if you knew what you intended to control with the Midi Baby, you could set the color of the Midi Baby so that you remember better.

HX Stomp: extnal footswitch with LED ?

yes, I see the problem is the FS4/5 jack in doesn't informations about status Kilrahi, do you remember which models of midi controller you think about ? Thank you
  19. One nice thing about the HX is that the FX blocks have their own volume controls which can allow you to subtly tweak things if the levels aren't quite right. My advice would be to start setting the HX's output l/mono to "line" level. Leave everything else at instrument. If you don't like what you hear, then go in and set the HX send/returns to line. Try that first. If it still doesn't work, well, come back and say what the problem was and we can experiment some more. Edit: Just saw codamedia's advice above which I think is more explanation on the same thing I was saying too. Use a combination of these tools. It might take some adjusting, but you'll get there.
  20. Instrument level and Line line are just that - levels (volume). There is enough control of volumes in the SEND/RETURN settings to compensate anything "Instrument/Line" are doing. Set your SEND/RETURN 1 to LINE level Insert an FX Loop Block Turn down the "SEND Level" so it hits your amp like it would if it were instrument level. Start around -9db... adjust as needed.

    HX Effects Advice

Hi Al, I have both the Helix and the HXE. I mostly use the Helix now. You will be able to replace many of your pedals with the HXE. The overdrive/distortions are fantastic. You will likely not need the echoplex for a boost because of the wonderfull pedals modeled in the HX. I think the consensus is that you will want to continue to use your octaver depending on how you use it. There are some nice delays and reverbs that do polyphonic intervals however you set them. I am content with them personally. You only get 9 blocks in the HXE and it's possible to run out of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) depending on what kinds of blocks you are using. You can put the HXE Wah at the beginning of your chain and it will sound great. But if you have a Wah you like, that would be one of the pedals I would keep because because the HXE doesn't come with an expression pedal. Lets say you want to use your favorite flanger pedal. You can use a send/return block (uses 1 of the 9 avaialble) to insert it into the chain wherever you want. I don't think you will have any problems there. You can for example consider having your HXE path split into two sections. Here might be how It could look. Guitar -> Tuner pedal -> Wah Pedal -> T-Rex -> HXE In [ -> Facial Fuzz -> Tone Sovereign -> Teemah -> HXE Send ] -> Preamp Pedal -> Flanger pedal -> Phaser pedal -> HXE return [ -> Tremolo -> other effect block -> another effect block -> Digital Delay -> Tape Delay -> Hall Reverb ] HXE Out -> Favorite old Reverb Pedal -> amp guitar in. If you want to, you can use the 4 cable method to user your amp's preamp like this. Guitar -> Tuner pedal -> Wah Pedal -> T-Rex -> HXE In [ -> Facial Fuzz -> Tone Sovereign -> Teemah -> HXE Send ] -> Guitar Amp In Guitar Amp Send -> Flanger pedal -> Phaser pedal -> HXE return [ -> Tremolo -> other effect block -> another effect block -> Digital Delay -> Tape Delay -> Hall Reverb ] HXE Out -> Favorite old Reverb Pedal -> Guitar Amp Return Lots of flexibilitly. You can put your pedals anywhere in the chain. You are just limited to 9 blocks including the send/return block Bob
  22. thanks!!! tonight I'll try .... I hope it works!

Best to go to your local guitar shop or music instrument retailer and compare to see what fits.

    Powercab 212 stereo monitoring

I am running my Helix into the PC212 via L6 Link. Is it possible to also accomplish stereo monitoring by utilizing both Input 1 and Input 2? Right now I can only get mono monitoring via "Input 2 Monitor Mode".
  25. I'm not sure if I get the same crackling as you guys. I bought the Ux2 on 2013 and used it on windows. I got the crackling sound on whatever I was recording and in my case I solved it unplugging and re plugging the interface like 2 or up to 4 times until I got rid of it. Now I use it on a Mac and it's still there... It's annoying but I got it solved that way. I don't know if my crackling differs from yours.

    LT Sounds Muffled When Recording

Gotcha. I think I may pick up a pair of studio headphones as I tend to do this more at night so at least I won't disrupt the family. Sometimes I think the volume is low enough, yet I'll still get that text (because they don't want to get out of bed lol) "can you turn it down?" I know I'll have to do some EQ'ing, but I'd like to start out like I see a lot of guys on YouTube in that they set up a brand new patch and from the start - without any tweaking - it sounds better than what I'm getting. Then adjust from there. I appreciate all the help guys - thank you!

    LT Sounds Muffled When Recording

I'd say most do have studio monitors, yes... but they're not a magic bullet either. Like your stereo speakers, any pair of near- field studio monitors you pick will also have a wildly different frequency response compared to your guitar amp... you'll end up with the same mud coming out of shiny new speakers. No matter what you do, you're gonna have to EQ your way out of this problem. There's no way around that.
