    Helix Firmware Upgrade 2.8 - Blues :(

I'm not disappointed with Helix, I'm not waiting around for firmware updates. I just found out there was a 2.71 update like last week. All the people who come in with "Herpadurr, don't expect this company to do what this company does, herpadurr." are totally unnecessary, though. I think the OP's original word choice made it sound a little more dire than was intended, but the conversation that followed has been beat to death around here. L6 knows what they need to do to stay competitive in the platform.

Then, as I said, if that's the case, get ready for a bunch of disappointment in life. I know people/the marketplace will expect companies to "play ball", that's their nature. But I think you do yourself a disservice to expect things from people/companies that aren't said. You''ll be disappointed a lot. That's been my experience. I choose not to be disappointed.

I've already had this conversation across several forums. You jump into a market with known competitors, you gotta compete whether you make an official press release or not, or eventually you get dusted. I agree that when you buy something, buy it for what it does, not what you hope it will do. At the same time, when you buy into a market segment that's competitive and the previous competitors have established the status quo, you are going to be expected to "play ball".

I would say it's "completely reasonable" that many people would feel entitled to an update, knowing what little I know about the human condition. BUT, I'm a believer in going by what is said, not what people may think they are entitled to. So I would say it's not " completely reasonable" to expect them to follow suit. If it ain't said, shouldn't expect it. If you do do that kind of thing, be prepared for a lot of disappointment in life. Starting now I guess.

TGP has basically become a bunch of 40+ sh1tposters who don't really understand how trolling/sh1tposting works.

Just for some context. I’d posted the same over at TGP, and the same user had a pop at me over there too, for my temerity of posting something so unoriginal. I just think that’s bang out of order.
  9. Anyone else getting this? Is it expected? At 48KHz, on any of my DAWs, Helix Native sounds fine. ...but at 44.1KHz, I'm getting some really nasty tones / frequencies super-imposed. Thanks!

You don't have to take anything seriously from anyone who uses Bleeding Cowboy font in the current year.

I started mowing my lawn yesterday (washington state, so I had to wait for the rain to subside). The lawn was so high I to push the mower at a raised angle on the first pass. The air filter cover vibrated off and got sucked into the blades along with the filter. I'm waiting for parts to arrive from Amazon. And now its started to rain again. If 2.8 arrives before the parts I'll have something to do while I'm waiting. If not, I'll keep hacking away at the grass while I wait for 2.8. Either way, life goes on. Brahhhhhh! Ob la di!

Well I have... and now that I think about it, that damned mower has never had an update of any kind. I'm outraged! Anybody got John Deere's customer service #? I'm gonna give them a piece of my mind...;)

    Help - Auto-Wah LFO

IMO.... Dynamics and a Touch Wah take care of this problem very easily. Just play a little harder where you want the pulse to be. It's a technique that is worth learning rather than automating. That said... Auto Wah is very handy if a guitar was recorded without wah in mind and you want to add it later. But live... I'd suggest you just work on the technique - whether it's a touch wah or rocking a pedal back and forth in time (tapping your foot) with a traditional wah. EDIT TO ADD: Please don't take that wrong... I'm not against having this feature on the Helix. I'm just suggesting that it is relatively easy to work around with the tools that already exist.

Line 6 said we would have 2.8 sometime this Spring. We are 1/3 of the way through Spring. There are two months left in Spring. I haven't even mowed my lawn yet this year. There is still a chance of frost. Spring isn't even half way over yet. Spring began on March 21. Spring ends on June 21. On June 22nd I might make an angry post if we don't have 2..8 yet. But for now - since it's still the beginning of Spring, the sun is starting to shine longer, and the flowers and bunnies are popping up everywhere - I am happy. Stop trying to bring us all down with your nonsense.

    Helix For Bass

I love my helix for bass. It's the best thing since sliced bread. Sounds great with either my 2014 Jaguar bass or my Sterling bass.

    VDI wireless?

I'm not sure that's a safe assumption... yes, the G10 had multiple available channels, but it's only using one at a time. I'm no engineer, but there's got to be more to it than that, otherwise we'd have seen wireless VDI already. Plus, that post is over 3 years old...I dunno about you, but I'm paying more for just about everything than I was 3 years ago, lol... if they built it tomorrow, it wouldn't surprise me if it was north of $1K.

    Help - Auto-Wah LFO

Hi everyone I recently purchased the line 6 Helix after researching different options. I am a bit gutted to find that I can't setup an autowah since parameters cannot be automated according to tempo. I upgraded from a Boss GT8 where I could do this. Basically telling the unit to oscillate between the X and Y position constantly at 120bpm (or equivallent in milliseconds) I tried playing with the Mutant Filter (which I understand is based on the Mu-Tron) but I am not getting the fast and constant "up-and-down" sound that I need since the filter responds to the dynamycs of the string attack and I need the effect to be constant while doing fast 16-note string obstructions. I want to know if there is any way around this. If someone has been into a similar situation and has come up with some settings that could help. My bass player suggested getting a separate autowah and add it to the physical chain. However, I don't know to what extent the Helix would be able to control an external unit. I also bought the Helix in order to avoid the piling of different pedals/stompboxes and be able to rely on presets instead of switching settings and oscillators between songs while playing live. I saw this entry on the ideascale site but I don't know if this could become an upgrade soon and whether it is possible to get this via a simple upgrade of the firmware in the future https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Auto-wah-or-auto-EVERYTHING-for-Helix/727014-23508#idea-tab-comments I found a video of the settings I want to control (sorry about posting the link to another similar product) and want to know of any workarounds with the Helix. Any light so I can play the songs the way they sound on the record and still rely on the Helix. I have been regretting the buy because of this tbh Sorry for the long post and thanks for your help

Yes.... I guess we live in a parallel universe... because to me "until L6 makes an official statement regarding that particular subject"...means it's "pure assumption" to think you are guaranteed anything more than bug fixes. We all wish the Helix had a certain feature we want, some of us will make feature requests, some of us will vote on it, none of us know what may or may not make it into the next update. I don't BUY anything based on that type of uncertainty. I bought the Helix for the features it had.... any new features ARE a bonus.... IMO :)

    Helix Firmware Upgrade 2.8 - Blues :(

Same topic again, same points made. Sometimes I think that I and the "I just expect bugfixes, everything else is a bonus" people, we seem to have bought different products called Helix, from different companies called Line6, with different histories, different markets, etc. Also, we seem to read different press releases, posts on forums, etc. Until L6 makes an official statement regarding that particular subject, I guess we'll continue living in parallel universes.

    Helix Firmware Upgrade 2.8 - Blues :(

I guess we all see it through a different lens.... It put me in a good mood when I saw the announcement. There is a feature in this next update I am really looking forward to... and it will change how I use the Helix. I've already drawn up my roadmap on updating all my patches to utilize it the best way I can. If the product arrives in the Spring when they said it would (still nearly 2 month left in Spring) I can quickly implement my changes and be ready for my busy summer schedule. As for the great impatience it creates? That is the fault of the impatient, not the business. They said "spring" and spring equals "March 21st - June 20th". Last time I looked at the calendar... it was April :)
