  1. I don't see any way to get more than one page of results or how to sort by date or anything else.

  2. I agree. I used to like sorting by date so I can see new patches that had been submitted and might want to try...now that seems impossible. bring back the old site!

  3. You need to assign the parameters to the Snapshot controller. Simultaneously push and rotate the associated encoder knob to do so. The parameter value will appear in brackets when properly assigned.

  4. 6 more amps, any two effects at once, more user presets, and best of all you can upgrade the old Catalyst to CX with a firmware update! https://line6.com/catalyst-guitar-amps/

  5. Why? Seems to me the obvious answer is to use multiple presets during the service.

  6. I hate this idea. Helix is a guitar processor. If you need a drum machine, buy a drum machine. I have the Beat Buddy. It works quite well. Please don't screw up my guitar processor by adding non-guitar stuff to it. In case you were wondering, I also don't want to see a blender attachment as I don't think I will ever want to make margaritas with my Helix. Why not? Because it is a guitar processor, not a bartender .... or a drummer. Thank you. (insert rolling eyes here)

  7. Who hates the New Custom tone site and misses the old one? The old site was fine and easy to search for patches. New site is terrible and frustrating. Who else feels this way?

  8. No. The way to do that is to set the exp pedal to send MIDI, then record that on a separate MIDI track. Actually, if you use Reaper you can record the MIDI on the same track as the DI from USB 7. Then you set the wah in the Native preset on the reamp track to listen for the MIDI CC you set the Helix Exp pedal to and send the MIDI from the DI track along with the audio. You'll also need the Bypass CCs matched.

  10. Funny story. Turns out not to be a bug. I submitted this issue as a support ticket and in response Pete in Line6 customer support pointed out that the problem is that global setting MENU > Global Settings > Switches > "Stomp Select" was set to "both". What that means is that when I pressed the FS, it went into setting mode, and the scribble strip reflected that. Changing the global setting to "touch" solved the problem. Now, to make a change in the FS setting I'd need to touch, rather than press that (or any other) FS, but that's fine with me. Thanks, Line6 support (and Pete) for a prompt, helpful response!

  11. From the manual, USB AUDIO section: Recording a Dry DI Track For this example, we’ll record guitar into two DAW tracks simultaneously, with one capturing the Helix-processed tone and the other the unprocessed DI guitar. 1. In the Helix Global Settings>Ins/Outs>Page 3 screen, set Re-amp Src (USB 7) to “Guitar” (as shown above). 2. Dial in your desired Helix tone, while keeping the Helix Input and Output blocks both set to the default “Multi” setting. 3. Create two new audio tracks in your DAW software project: Create one mono track to record the dry DI guitar, and set the track’s input to Helix USB 7. Continued...

  12. The editor will not ‘overwrite’ anything you do on the device itself. The editor program does not have its own copy of any settings. It uses the data stored on the device to serve its display. Changes made using either the editor or the device itself are immediately reflected on the device and remain synchronized with the editor display.

  13. I can feel your frustration with this. I currently have 5 audio interfaces. Focusrite Scarlett is my MAIN AI, the rest are built into Line6 and IKMM HW. I have NEVER had this much trouble getting one to work in ANY of the DAWs I've used over the years: Cakewalk; Ableton LIVE; Reaper; Studio One; ProTools; Cubase; Mixcraft; FL Studio - I think there's a couple more that I just don't recall right now. Every one of my interfaces have their own driver (including the two that have died over the years - M-Audio and Roland). If the DIRECT MONITOR button is not the fix, give this a try: Here's a link to DL the actual Behringer Drivers for the UM2. Since this is not an official Behringer site and I do not have a UM2 I can't test them. https://bit.ly/64_Bit_Driver_Behringer Here's a link to where the driver link came from with instructions for installing and using them. He's using a different DAW but combined with my instructions you should be able to figure out the parallels in Cakewalk.

  14. Hello, and Welcome! First things first. This is a user-to-user support forum. NOBODY from Line6 hangs out here. If you want them to see your suggestion post it here: https://line6.ideascale.com/c/ But FIRST, do a search. This has been suggested MANY times. Now for the reality portion of our broadcast. Digital Igloo (Eric Klein, Chief Product Designer) has stated that the L6 product philosophy, at least in part, is that if somebody else is already doing it, and doing it well, they're not going to do it. Fractal does it (I think). Positive grid has been doing it for, like, 10 years? There's probably others, that's just 2 off the top of my head. Here's my view - I don't care. There're enough great sounding amps in Helix that I don't feel the need to invent new ones. Also, the design team has been coming up with new and original amp designs since the POD Bean days. I'd rather see them spending their development dollars doing more of that, and maybe original effects? Anyhow, do post over on Ideascale because you're right, you're not the only one who wants that. But search first and VOTE for all the others who got there before you!

  15. Hi APSRN! Welcome to the Wonderful World of Digital Music Madness! I haven't used Cakewalk in many years (prefer Reaper), so it took me a bit to get this configured properly. Hopefully I've properly documented the steps. Open Cakewalk. Go to FILE>NEW. The default should be BASIC. Name the project NATIVE and SAVE (click OK). Go to EDIT>PREFERENCES>AUDIO. In PLAYBACK AND RECORDING>DRIVER MODE select ASIO. In DRIVER SETTINGS click the ASIO PANEL. If it doesn't appear ALT-TAB until you find it. The SAMPLE RATE should auto-detect from your AI's Driver (probably 44.1k or 48k - don't worry about it). Set the BUFFER SIZE to 64. Later, when you're playing, if you get clicks/dropouts/other weird noises come back here and try 128. **The BUFFER SIZE determines the Latency. Round Trip Latency (RTL) is the amount of time between when you PICK a note and when you HEAR it. Lower is better, but how low you can go is dependent on your computer's power, mostly processor speed. You should also google Windows Audio Optimization for DAW and configure your computer accordingly. Go to DEVICE. Refer to the above screenshot. My Audio Interface is a Focusrite Scarlett. Select ALL of the Input and Output options for your AI (1-2). Click APPLY and then OK (3-4). Follow the numbered steps. 5-In the FX slot, right-click and select INSERT AUDIO FX>Uncategorized>Helix Native. 6-In the INPUT Box select whatever your AI calls USB 1 (or whichever input your guitar is plugged into). 7-Activate the TRACK RECORD button (won't record until you activate the TRANSPORT RECORD button at the top of the UI below the MENU BAR). 8-Activate the INPUT ECHO button. You should now be able to play and record if desired (by clicking the TRANSPORT RECORD button). Questions?

  17. First, make sure your HX One behaves properly when used with the Line 6 power supply that came with it. That will rule out your HX One itself as the problem. Then check the specs on your Joyo and make sure they match the HX One - 9VDC, center-negative, 2.1mm center diameter, 500mA. If the specs match and it doesn’t work there’s likely a problem with your Joyo.

  18. I don't use a MAC so I can't help with the specifics of the programs that you use. All I can say is that my FCB is currently connected to my system via USB but what I'm about to describe also worked when I connected by DIN through a MIDI interface. I set up a track in Reaper to receive MIDI from my FCB (iConnectivity MIO DIN/USB), pass it to my Helix via USB with MIDI THRU enabled, and on to my Powercab via DIN. Works perfectly with bothe Program Changes and CCs. Do you have USB MIDI set to ON in Global Settings?

  19. I don't know about you guys but I now feel sooooooooo unprofessional changing presets between every song playing live every weekend on my Helix since getting it in 2015 before we even had snapshots.

  20. There is nothing wrong with posting the request on ideascale, but that comment is a little extreme isn't it? I would think that all those people that do use the unit professionally would disagree with this! Whenever I see this argument I wonder how a guitar player cannot find 500ms to stop playing between songs, or even within a song if they ever "needed" to change a preset.

  21. I'm not at all sure what all you're doing, more complicated than I've time to figure out, but here's a simple bottom-line reality for you to start with. If your FX SEND is connected to SOMETHING you need a SEND BLOCK in your signal chain. If you want the signal to return from that SOMETHING you need a SEND/RETURN Block or separate SEND and RETURN Blocks in your signal chain. If you use separate SEND and RETURN Blocks you probably want the DRY THRU parameter of the SEND Block set to -120db UNLESS you want a MIX of the DRY and EFFECTED signals. My HXS/ToneX signal chain is: Gtr>WAH>HXS Input>HXS FX> SEND/RETURN Block (Stereo if you're using 2 ToneX)> Send L (TRS to Dual Mono if 2 ToneX)>ToneX Input(s)> ToneX Output(s)> Return L(L+R if 2 ToneX)>HXS FX> HXS Main Out(s). Your SEND/RETURN Global Settings should be INSTRUMENT (ToneX In/Out are BOTH Instrument Level). Hope that helps.

  22. I finally liked this amp after the update
    2 points
  23. No, other than the new cosmetics and new labeling on the control panel, the amps are identical. (they screwed down the trim piece around the control panel because most pop off). Superglue is your friend). Buy the older one, and update the software and you're the same as the new amp.

  24. Update was a piece of cake, no problems at all, just be sure to back up your presets and perform a Factory Reset after the update, same as Helix/HX. They've fixed one of the biggest complaints - being stuck with Reverb vs being able to use any two FX! Still unable to disable cab sim, but at least they're working on it. The Pilot's Guide adds the relevant MIDI commands and includes the Audio Interface info (which channels do what). They've added some of my favorite amps and paired them nicely for different flavors of similar sounds. Very nice update!

  25. BTW I gigged with the Catalyst last night. Couldn't fault it. Don't think I'll need my Marshall now.

  26. Whenever crazy, unexplainable stuff happens, perform a Factory Reset. If the problem persists after that, open a support ticket.

  27. I think it’s the other way around. Think of the words ‘Recall’ and ‘Discard’ as applying to the changes made while editing a snapshot. When set to Discard the changes you just made are discarded immediately upon leaving the snapshot, and the next time you activate the snapshot it will be restored in its last-saved state. When set to Recall the changes you just made are retained rather than discarded, and the next time you activate the snapshot those unsaved changes appear. But still you must save the preset in order to permanently store the changes.

  29. Without more details, all anybody can do is guess. Does it happen only with one particular patch, or can it be any patch at any time? Is there a volume pedal block in the affected patch(es), or are you using an external expression pedal for anything? Aside from a volume pedal drifting one way or the other and needing to be recalibrated, I can't immediately think of what might be causing it. Is there anything specific that you do that will trigger the problem? Posting the affected patch(es) would allow someone else to download it and see if they can reproduce the same problem on their end. Whatever it is, it's unlikely to be hardware related. If it's just one particular patch, then I'd say it probably got corrupted somehow... rebuild it from scratch in an empty slot and see what happens. Otherwise, as with pretty much any odd and unexplainable behavior, just about the only option you have as an end user is backing up everything and then doing a factory reset. May or may not help, but it certainly won't hurt. If that doesn't solve it, then it's time to open a service ticket.

  30. IF you can find one, they are still fixed CC's, not sweeping. It would DROP the pitch, then return it - you will not have control (with foot) at how fast the pitch drops. If the effect you are using in the helix has a way to vary the drop speed, that is your only hope. I'd recommend buying a spring loaded expression pedal. Also hard to find, but that would give you the control you really require. Or, buy any cheap expression pedal and do this remarkably simple mod. (it doesn't have to be the expensive expression pedal in the video)

  31. I see this as further evidence that Line 6 is recognizing the realities of the modern guitar playing audience which is simple and portable. I think we've been through a bit more than than two decades of self-indulgence when it comes to our guitar processors which culminated in the original Helix line. A powerful do-it-all processor for any modeling job you can think of born in the age of massive floor pedal units. But those days are trending out I believe. Don't get me wrong. I love my Helix Floor and I'll never replace it because it does everything I want or need it to do, and I ask a lot of it. In reality my Helix is now more of a stage performance control unit nowadays than it is a pure floor modeler. After I get it set up I don't touch it other than to use the volume pedal to turn it down while I switch guitars because all other actions on my Helix are controlled externally. The vast majority of my presets are relatively simple because the requirements of each song are not terribly daunting. The role of guitar in music has clearly diminished from where it was when the Helix was introduced and not a lot of younger players want to cart around a unit that has great capabilities out of which they only need a simple few. Even my own time on guitar has diminished considerably as I tend to focus much more time on my keyboard work. But that's just the natural situation dictated by the music environment of the times, and that fits me because I'm also ready to move into new adventures and challenges beyond just the guitar which I find limiting given modern music tastes. I think Line 6 recognizes these kind of changes and are adapting to it because they're a VERY wise company having been successful for a very long time. Of course music trends are commonly cyclical, and things may change back at some point. Having been a musician my entire life and turning 72 this year, I'm ready for something new to challenge me for however much time I've got left on this rock.

  32. i jumped on ToneX when it was first released - I could finally afford to find out what this "profiling" thing was all about! First thing I did was capture my one and only amp - my Catalyst. TBH, I couldn't tell the difference. Cool! Then I spent too many hours auditioning captures on Tone.Net. Turns out the ones I was liking best were mostly done by one guy and, when I looked into it, they were captures of his AXEFXIII! Since then I've gotten the ToneX pedal and a boatload of Amalgam captures. Now, the main reason I wanted in on this was to get a chance to try a bunch of amps I'd never even see ITRW. Invariably, after playing them for a while, I go back to my Helix to see if I can get those tones. Yep. Exact? No. Close enough for R'n'Roll? Yep. Bottom line - ToneX is fun. I still play Helix most. More and more just my Catalyst. What can I say - simple man, simple needs. Of course, as always, YMMV!

  33. Correct. Don't look for the correct plug for too long, better get an adapter cable (or two, just in case). That way you should be able to use pretty much any halfway decent power supply.

  34. Hard to say if it's a lack of understanding about the target demographic, or the genuine belief that "I have no use for this thing, therefore no one else will either". We live in a bizarre time, and people are weird. And guitar players are weird and crazy....

  35. The USB7 dry signal is tapped at the Helix Input block, before it undergoes any DSP, which is what defines ‘dry’. Hence, no it doesn’t capture anything about your preset, including the Wah pedal. You can use MIDI with Helix Native to control the bypass state and pedal position of the Wah. You can do this manually during every playback using the Helix pedal controller, or (probable preferably) you can record a MIDI Automation track that captures the pedal movements once and then applies the automation during all future playbacks. Details vary with the DAW but the Helix Native part of it is explained in the manual.

  36. Hi, Ben, I would regard your question to be more esoteric than existential, and as we are generally not psychic in these forums, it's really big help to know what DAW you are using, and on what computer OS. Anyhow, here we go. You would be best advised to have some sort of MIDI Controller for this job, but firstly, check out this video for some idea of how it works. The section named "The Better Way" @ 4:08 makes most sense of how to approach this. Hope this helps/makes sense.

  39. @yoMuzicManYou have re-uncovered a bug. Meaning, this has been noted before. IDK if it was ever reported, so you should open a support ticket to report it. But to be clear, I have tested and this is real. At least, on my HX Stomp. I haven't tried on my Helix Floor, but no matter, REPORT IT!

  40. Works now. I turned spillover off and then turned it on again and the settings took effect. Strange that they didn’t the first time… but good to go!

  41. I don’t know whether or not there will ever be a 4th snapshot for the Stomp. Also I don’t have an HX Stompmto experiment with so this is purely theoretical…… There might be a way to use one Snapshot and one or more FX blocks turned on/off appropriately to provide you with what you would otherwise call Snapshot 4. For instance, could you blend your Crunch and Rhythm snapshots so that Crunch = Rhythm + OD FX? Or your Rhythm to be Clean + Mod + Del? You get the idea. Doing that, and configuring certain Global Settings appropriately (e.g. snapshot toggle), you might be able to use 3 defined Snapshots plus the Bypass feature and Mode switching to yield a 4 snapshot setup. I haven’t investigated this approach so it might or might not work or be practical.

  42. In Global Settings>Ins/Outs, the SEND that you're using should probably be set to INSTRUMENT. Now you know why it's 50/50 whether to use distortions in FX loops. They're designed to be connected between a guitar and an amp input. Other stuff (even other physical FX) tends to change the formula in unpredictable ways.

  43. Thank you so much @loonsailor for taking the time and finding out what was going on. At first it didn't work, but after a factory reset, it now works perfectly. Thanks again.

  44. I second the "try the amp models instead" advice. But if you want to try the preamps go to the output block and crank the level to +20dB. Here is a link where the preamps are explained.

  45. Test this: Put a patch cable from Send1 to Return2 and test FX Send1 block -> FX Return2 block for signal Put a patch cable from Send2 to Return1 and test FX Send2 block -> FX Return1 block for signal You should then know whether FX Send1 or FX Return1 is not working. With that knowlegde open a support ticket.

  46. Just save another preset over this preset, then change it as desired.

  47. The Fender Mid Boost Eric Clapton can boost the signal 25dB. That's WAY too much for the HX's input to handle. Definitely use the HX's Pad although it is only -7dB which isn't remotely enough to handle the full boost capabilities of the Clapton.

  49. I know for a fact there there are more than 10 presets uploaded to CUSTOMTONE for the Catalyst. I guess the only to find them is to search for something that you don't even know exists. What a stupid design.

  50. Thanks, again. They key takeaways for me were: “They’re always active in the sense that you can use them to modify the preset, but they do not affect the preset unless you use them to do so” and “… changes to presets are retained (not saved) between CHANNEL (A/B) changes but are discarded when you change BANKS” Re: “You DID back up your presets, right?” Yes.
