  1. Gold Dust Woman, for the life of me just can't remember the progressions so a Verse and Chorus button. Forces me to look down when I hit the switch. And looking at the signal path constantly is kind of silly hence the Song Notes mode for the screen or add another screen somewhere with the next generation. My failing memory...might as well get some use out of it and offer a new feature.

  2. Would it be possible to use the HX Effects with two independent GTRs, two amps as in the attached image?

  3. So I set up my Helix to have a preset for each song I play. Sometimes those songs require snapshots, sometimes it's only one snap. What to do with the others? Well I put notes in the scribble strips-chord progression, a notey run, song form etc. It helps me quite a bit, nice large type and no fumbling with an ipad, etc. At some point it might be great to have a song view on the larger screen.

  4. Very simple question if I may. Are all of these " hold these buttons down" steps while doing this or that to the HX listed in the "User" manual in the "trouble-shooting" section (if the machine wont boot up)? If it is then fine, but you know what my next question is gonna be if it's not... Also since I'm on that trail of self-destruction, why would one have to do this to a new HX unit in the 1st place?

  5. No one responding in this thread has any direct say as to what new features are added. You should put any feature requests up on IdeaScale: https://line6.ideascale.com/ Also, fwiw, you can already change the ring color for snapshot switches. It's explained on pages 26 and 27 of the manual.

  6. Good idea if it works for you. I will offer my working method seeing as it worked so well for last 2 x 1hour set gig. I use an iPad and OnSong, and yes fiddling with the iPad is a right pain. OnSong is set to auto scroll on each song, but you have to start it scrolling and swap to the next song. I use a single patch for the whole gig, mainly playing an acoustic JTV model either fairly straight or chorused but sometimes a strat into amp and for 2 songs the overdrive gets a showing. We are playing Folk Rock. Snapshots are used for the 4 basic sounds and then various effects added when needed such as kinky boost for solo. What I do is connect Helix to iPad with USB and dedicate the top row switches to controlling OnSong: previous and next song, start scrolling, stop scrolling, page down. Auto scrolling is great but we vary tempo and nothing is worse than getting out of sync and not being able to see what to play next. The next bit is what really makes it work: in OnSong I set each song to send the Snapshot change midi commands. So as I press next song OnSong switches to the next song in that nights set list and it changes the Helix snapshot which in turn changes the JTV setting. Then all I need to do is press start scrolling in the count in. Then stop scrolling for the “hold on” and humorous interaction with audience. Absolute minimum control inputs required! Almost as if I had a dedicated tech doing it all for me like the pro’s have.

  7. Hey guys, I bought these IR's because I really wanted to try this out! I'm pretty happy with the results. So here they are! I'm a newb when it comes to DAW's so I couldn't follow GuitarjonSDS's guide exactly. Plus I didn't use a DAW to reamp the tracks, I just used my floor model Helix and HXEdit to create a patch. All the tones here are uploaded with his settings exactly as they are in the tutorial. I placed the IR block (2048) after the Amp block. I didn't cut any high's or lows. I just loaded them as is. This was all recorded using my Helix floor into Studio One Pro. I used my Carvin custom wooded 7 string guitar based on the DC-727 (It's pictured as my avatar). Pretty sure the pickups are C26N neck / C26T bridge. This guitar has passive / active settings, I used the pick ups in the passive setting as the active settings created too much background noise / distortion. The coil splitting / phase switch wasn't used either. Also everything was recorded with the bridge pick up. Guitar wood is Koa Body, mahogany neck with a maple top on the body. Petrucci Clean: Pull me under rhythm: Petrucci Lead: Petrucci 7 String: Definite favorite is the 7 String sound. Sounds like Petrucci's 7 string on Train of Thought. Fantastic! Thanks GuitarjonSDS for this tutorial and the Metallica one. I look forward to more of them! I ended up tweaking these sounds a bit further to get what I wanted as he suggested in his tutorial. Thanks

  8. Well that's it then, I'm done buying stuff as clearly no one, anywhere, could possibly be on the level. Of course that means that Fremen The Great cannot be trusted either, after all he's selling stuff too, isn't he? Such a shame you were robbed like that.. Gotta go... places to go, checksums to do.

  9. Hey man, I hear you on the overwhelmingness of the Helix. I came from a Boss GT-8, the difference between the helix and that hardware has been life changing. MusicLaw and ADBrown both have good points. I started out with YouTube videos since I honestly never had any amps besides a Marshall AVT 275, that amp broke down in less than two years and I went for studio monitors and a GT-8. I'm really into Dream Theater, so I sought out Mesa Boogie sounds. This is a good video of Youtuber Richie C. creating a great tone: I suggest spending a day or so going through the factory presets and get a feel for what everything is. I suggest having this website handy: http://dshowmusic.com/line-6-helix-amp-models/ It is a cheat sheet for amp models, so going through the factory sets and looking at this at the same time can give you a good feel for what amps sound like while assigning a brand name to them. After that I just went after what I was looking for which is fantastic clean tones and metal patches. There is a lot out there. I suggest Googling your favorite artist name and add "helix" afterwards and see what comes up. Good luck! EDIT: Go through Line 6 Custom Tone page for awesome user submitted patches to load and learn from!

  10. There's no way around the inevitable learning curve. Even if you purchase pre-made Presets and IR's, if you don't have the inclination to understand what controls Helix puts in your hands, you are likely to be disappointed. There are simply too many factors between the pre-made stuff and what you will be listening on, playing with, and more. Jason Sadites' YouTube videos and many by others too, are an exceptional resource. These will get you up and going quickly. However, there is no way to absorb everything in a single instance.

  11. Gee...I hope you don't start playing any funky jazz stuff (Stevie Wonder, Micheal McDonald, Kenny Loggins, etc.. There's not enough scribble strips for those progressions!!!

  13. I bought my Helix with the best intentions of digging in and creating my own sounds, but soon found I didn't have (more like want to take) time to really deep dive to find the magic on my own. I picked up a few here and there, but like so many things, what I heard on YouTube didn't even sound close once I downloaded and installed. Fremen were the best to my ears, and sounded the closest at home as they did on his YT demo. If you have the time and want to dig in and learn, check out Jason Sadites on YouTube. He does very detailed tutorials.

  14. My guess is you don't have the appropriate driver selected in Cakewalk. I use Sonar Platinum but it's probably close to the same on regular Cakewalk. Under the Edit menu select Preferences. In the Audio category with Devices selected you should have ASIO Helix Input 1-2 through ASIO Helix Input 7-8 listed there for both Input and Output drivers. If not, then select the Audio and MIDI setup under Utilities and it will walk you through getting the right device driver in place. Again, things may be different for you depending on the version of Cakewalk you have. But the concept is the same. Configure the appropriate ASIO driver and all should be well.

  15. I have been using SAVIhost as the wrapper for a "standalone" of Helix Native vst without any issues in Windows10-64... it allows for a one-click launch of Helix Native.

  16. "The IRs were custom made for the Helix amps used, and I could tell they were well designed." Are you shure did you compare them with any of their regular IR's its as simple as rename an IR and that would fool people a regular MD5 file cheksum would tell if they use their existing IR's. I find it very doubtful that they re captured or redid some of their existing IR's with EQ,Comp,Saturation etc using Daw plugins (Like Fremen does) to make a special sounding IR just for a preset pack.

  17. Not really funny but i did buy a preset some time ago it had an IR named something like Marshall bla bla after i loaded it in Helix it said something totally different Helix like TDR bla bla (It did belong to Fremen) so yeah basically "some" people steal IR from others rename them and then sell it. So yeah dont trust anyone I am done here hope you all wake up some day but i guess not.
