  1. Exactly what it was! I had missed that; Ben Vesco does a nice YT vid on this very thing.

  2. I've got the POD500x, so I'm not in a hurry. I love to edit my presets on my pc (probably because I grew up with one) while having Ableton opened so that I can immediately hear how it sounds in the mix. That's the setup I'm used to (having the POD on the floor aswell so I can use my feet to switch faster). I imagine the update will come soon. Until then I've got an excuse for not buying something I can't really afford right now :p

  3. Cool. Thanks for the tip.

  4. Something else that's fun to play around with is separate cab blocks with a split path. Try putting your verb and echo on one path and leaving the other clear for (IMHO) considerable improvement in tone on some patches.

  5. Thanks for catching that. It is fixed now. I had tested by clicking the guitar icon and not the play button. I also added code to change the cursor now.

  6. I went from an X3L to Helix LT myself, no way I'd go back. I too was concerned about this but trust me (or don't, find out for yourself) it's way better. I had all 60 songs in our cover band loaded onto 2 banks of the X3L, also 2 presets for church going straight into FOH & didn't think I could do it. It ended up being uber easy, now I can do multiple things with just one button (instead of trying to pedal dance delays, ODs, etc) without even thinking about it live. That impossible solo Slash does halfway through Sweet Child 'O Mine where he engages the wah on the fly? Now I can do it by simply moving the EXP pedal past 5%. The 3 different delays Neal Schon uses on Don't Stop Believing? No problem. You couldn't do that on your X3L. I also have the ability to control my amp's channel switching per preset, very useful in a cover band! It takes some work; you have to get your hands dirty, but it pays off very quickly. There are a ton of knowledgeable folks here, as well as YT vids explaining many things. Just start with one basic preset sound that you like, then build on it. Let HX edit make it easy to copy/paste blocks or even entire presets. BTW, FWIW I'll be 60 next month- not a real quick learner. If I can do it anyone can. I was building homemade Fuzz Faces with Carbon Comp resistors & Germanium transistors not long ago & this technology has helped me tremendously. Good luck & if I can help you at all please post, If I can I'll share anything I've learned.

  7. Some great responses! I really appreciated the personal perspectives shared and the links and references to things to check out! I've thought about the Fractal being a "death" by too much to adjust/play with and that has been confirmed here as a real thing. Thanks again for all the helpful feedback!

  8. Interesting - thanks for taking the time to create this and share it with us. Spank switch position 5 not working, though!

  9. I'd never heard of the guy, but if he was featured on Mesa Engineering's Instagram, he's gotta be somebody.

  10. Interesting thread. Unfortunately, the only thing i came away with is an overwhelming desire for chicken noodle soup...

  11. I'm in the same boat, looking for a simple combo solution for times when taking my computer based setup would be a PITA. I have an Amplifi 150 here, and would love to make more use of it. I can't use it as an FRFR because the interface doesn't seem to work the way most other Line 6 products do, where you can run the USB interface inline and/or parallel with the amplifier's sound, you can only run it in parallel, so the actual amp path will always be in the signal path, useless as an all in one interface/FRFR. I've been trying to find a way to wire a line out tap ffrom the speaker level wiring, but it seems too sketchy and chopping up what would otherwise be a perfectly serviceable unit. The Spider 5 looks pretty cool, but for some reason they dumbed down the included FX from the Spider 4. So maybe a Spider 4? Seems to be a glaring hole in the market, if Line 6 would just stick the HD500X in a combo (and wish of all wishes, let us import our own IR's) that would murder the marketplace We had a Firehawk 1500 here for a while, and it was OK, but for its size and cost, and the fact that the controller app is horrid and makes you relogin every 30 seconds, no thanks. I actually would have kept it if you could edit on the PC at the time (tried to do android emulation, but yak)

  12. Tubes choices to use for the DT Series,... DT-50 Series: 12AX7EH Electro-Harmonix approved for the DT50 pre-amps. EL34EH Electro-Harmonix (matched pairs) for the power amps. DT-25 Series: 12AX7B China for pre-amps. EL84EH Electro-Harmonix (matched pairs) for the power amps. Soft, medium or hard, the ratio between vacuum-to-inert gas in the tube,... all tubes used have to be mediums. Power amp tube choices are crucial, and must be properly biased by a tech or Line 6 authorized service center who knows the product. Don't do this yourself, the shock hazard is too great,... and it hurts when you get electric shock. Leave it to a tech trained who is for this. These valve amps are particular about tubes and tube brands. Do Not use substitutes, No Mesa, Groove Tube, Tung-Sol or JJ or (etc) substitutes. No hot rodding of an already Bogner hot rod.

  13. I'm looking to switch back to a Line 6 HDX. I had a HD500 in the past and liked it a lot so am thinking of the HD500X but was wondering is the POD PROX worth the extra money (I see they're about $100 more plus having to add a footswitch) over the HD500X? Which ever unit I get will be going straight into a PA if that makes a difference. Thanks - Dann
