  1. UPDATE I got in contact with True Tone and they sent me a new CS12 to replace my older one.... seems it is a version issue.... long story short, just rewired my board with the new one and everything looks like it's working perfectly.. I'm still going to be cautious and keep the Line Power supply with me in my gig bag but.... looks like it's all good now.....

  3. Those functions aren’t available with the 1-Switch Looper. There’s only so much you can do with one footswitch.

  4. You are asking questions that are entirely subjective, and have no real answer. Some guys like the stock cabs, some prefer IR's. Ask 10 guys, and you'll get 10 different reasons why... and nobody's "right". And if I may, all of your recent posts suggest that you are head - first down the tweaking rabbit hole. It's easy to do, and we've all done it. But sooner or later you reach a point of diminishing returns. Tone can't get "better" forever... perception is fickle, and changes from day to day. The tiny nuances you're obsessing over disappear in a mix... yes, you'll probably be able to hear subtle differences when playing unaccompanied, but so what? Once you add even one other instrument, those subtleties vanish like a fart in the wind....just play the thing.

  5. Followed it exactly . Here's what I've done so far. After updating my helix lt twice. I was using version 2.30. Haven't did an update in a while so I thought the reason I could not get the 2.6 to work was because of missing the other versions that came before. So I did them one at a time, didn't know any better. So, they installed perfectly. Brought my machine up to version 2.54. Then I went back to the downloads page at Line 6 and selected HX editor for windows 7 and it took me to the latest version of 2.60 editor. which has drivers, updater, ect. all there in a bundle. So, I downloaded as instructed. Opened the editor, clicked on help and then info to make sure I had the 2.6 editor and I did. Did a create backup just fine. closed editor, opened updater and followed the instructions just like I did with the earlier versions I just installed. I kept getting an error message and was instructed to turn off the helix and back on, make sure the usb was directly connected. It was , tried it 10 times same message. so, I deleted the editor and the updater uninstalling the program from my computer and started from scratch . back to Lne 6, downloads and get the 2.6 editor again, then did another backup then closed the editor and tried to update and still getting an error. What am I missing? I know its something simple, probably but I just did 2 updates before trying the 2.6 and I assume it's the same process as I just did....?????? Thanks for all your time,, Don

  6. Hi there , Is anyone else getting the "error has occurred" message when tring to update your helix. I have the Helix LT and thought it was because I was running the 2.30 version, so I did the 2.50 just fine then the 2.54 loaded up perfect but I still get an error in big red letters saying I need to check mu USB connection and to try turning the power off and back on. I am trying to use the line 6 updater which sees my unit and I clock on it then follow all the instructions. I hit accept and next or continue and boom there is the same message again ,, an error has occurred. Please help.. thanks,, Don

  8. Yeah i agree, but as its been pointed out the icon button isn't exactly obvious and also its been a SAVE dialog forever and now oh we need to remove that 'save text'for something less obvious...how about a dimm box with no dialog? great idea But sure, eventually even dummies like me figure out thats the 'new and improved' save option. I just thought maybe its some hidden preference...and yeah I miss the 'save' dialog..as it was obvious a change was made..now its not so obvious..

  9. The point of an ICON is that it's an OBVIOUS representation of something. A new user would NOT recognize that icon as representing the function SAVE. That particular icon usually means DOWNLOAD, not SAVE. Best practices in GUI design (at least as I learned it) has always been to use pop-up Tool Tips with icons. EDIT - NBD, just pointing out a possible reason for OP's confusion.

  10. A bit pedantic... I'm not stupid, you know. My point stands, though, the underlying modeling and architecture is similar. I'm not a fan of all the little knobs and such on Axe Edit. There's just not much that appeals to me about the Fractal products, to be honest.

  11. I don't argue this can be done completely by ear. And as I stated, you still have to do some of that even if you're using a meter. For myself it's really just a matter of workflow when I'm setting up my presets. I have my Helix plugged into a small mixing board all the time at home so I can watch the signal meter and I end up with all the presets and snapshots pretty much where they need to be. Occasionally once I get with the band at practice or sound check I may make some fine tuning on a patch or two, but that's pretty rare. The big value to me is that I know the sound man is going to get a very consistent signal level when he's gain staging and that's going to expedite the gain staging process.

  13. Have you contacted TrueTone? Over on TGP, I believe people said that the new CS12's work, and that TrueTone has been updating or replacing older units for free.
