  1. Hi. Who are the artists who inspired the presets? I think I know some of them, but you can help to complete the list ;) Notes: - Amp presets are eliminated (I hope so, if there are someone it's my mistake) - When not sure for a preset, I will put "(?)" after the suggerences. 2. Hi, trying to get my macbook pro (2013) to see POD HD PRO X and driver the downloads (Monkey 1.77) and says that it has installed but it hasn't. I have seen: But this does not help. I open System Preferences/Security & Privacy and unlock, but there is no message/notification on blocking of the app. I have tried downloading the driver directly from Line6 website. No difference. At wit's end...there seems no further help on this. David

  3. Why not use the Edit software? I'm old too - I edit on a computer - always - its better I think given the choice. I sit at a desk, with a computer - it plays music for me (via USB through the Helix) - can't imagine wanting to bend down and do it on the unit! I copy patches back and forward from the computer to the Helix all the time - it's a way better way to work and it also means I've got neatly arranged (that bit's up to you!) backups of everything.

  4. I’ve always had good live sound results using mono XLR out to a mixer at mic level. I also use the mono 1/4” straight into my powered monitor at line level and it works fine as well. I set the volume control to affect only 1/4”, which allows me to change the volume on my monitor without changing the level going to the mixer (a great tip I learned in this forum!) Advantage of XLR would be the balanced config, which could eliminate some noise over a long cable run. I don’t notice a big increase in noise with 1/4” over a 15’ run, so you would probably be OK saving your XLR inputs for mics. I don’t run stereo since I only go into a mixer when playing gigs and we run mono for FOH, but it should work fine if you have enough input channels. You will probably get a more focused answer to your question if you state your end use, i.e. are you using the mixer to record, run live sound or monitor Helix in your practice room?

  5. Hello! I determined that the contacts marked in the photo in red (marked with arrows) are unstable. I had to use a soldering iron to solve this problem. After these steps FHFX works without any problems! And since then, this problem has never arisen again. Thank you! I hope my experience will be useful to someone.

  6. I didn't see it mentioned, so I thought I'd throw this out there, the Helix has a dedicated sustainer. It's the Boss CS-1 (compressor/sustainer), it's in the legacy effects under the name Blue Comp. It's easy to use as it only has two knobs (sustain and level). I used to utilize this effect from time to time when I recorded with my Pod XT. It will increase sustain whether the tone is clean or dirty.

  7. +1 ! Musicians who are gigging, with a need for a variety of sounds / tunings / genres, understand the power and versatility of the JTVs. Modyfing such an instrument for gigging purposes is all worth the money: pickups, neck, etc. Here is another rehearsal recording with my modded JTV69. Wouldn't be able to perform this songs as the only guitar player without my JTV69: wolbai.

  8. Got my Warmoth neck installed on my JTV-69S this week. Its a big improvement for me. Stainless steel frets and a standard thin neck that fits my hands better made a big difference. Between the SVL Daytona pickups, the Warmoth neck and the setup, I have over $1100 additional invested in that JTV, might be more than I paid for the original instrument on eBay. That's probably more than is reasonable for that guitar. But I really like it for gigging, and its nice to make modifications that make it my own.

  9. Yes, the biggest oversight in the HD500 design was no signal level meter. The signal can get clipped after any of the FX blocks if you're not careful. But unless you're doing something extreme, and I doubt you are with an acoustic guitar, then you're probably fine. I measured the clip levels of the HD500's various IO ports and reported my results here. For example, for Guitar Pad = Normal, the input ADC will clip at 8.3Vpp, which is HUGE. You're active preamp output is probably closer to 1Vpp. Also, note that the gain from Guitar (Normal) to 1/4" out (amp) is -4.9dB. That is, a blank patch lowers your signal by 4.9dB! However, switching the pad to "Line" adds 6.1dB of gain and will largely restore your signal gain back to it's normal level (actually giving you -4.9dB + 6.1dB = 1.2dB of signal gain). All my data was taken with Master Volume = max. Reducing that will result in lowering your signal level (obviously). I have also measured the gain thru a variety of FX and listed the results here. This way you can account for those gains/losses as well. Finally, since you're using the Vintage Pre you may be interested in this thread, where I measured the frequency response of a variety of EQs. The Vintage EQ and gain & output level controls so you probably have to adjust both to get net gain = 0dB. In that set of data I used an input level of -20dBFS (to make sure I didn't clip anything) so for 0dB gain look for a -20dBFS output level. It looks like Gain = 50% and Output = 72% will do it. Oh, one more thing - once you start adding compressors and EQ then the concept of "what's louder" gets really fuzzy. Frequency response effects and changes in dynamics can make something SOUND louder even tho it may measure lower. So, use my measurements only as guidelines and places to start from.
