  1. The best amp for you to use with the HX FX is the same amp that you would use without it.

  2. A while back (sorry I can't find the thread now- I did look) I commented on the fact that after I installed the FH 1500 update (a while ago) the original remote editor app I had installed on my iPad 2 ceased to work. I recently re-installed this app to recheck this same issue, and the app installer asked be if I wanted to install the "older" version, in which case I said yes. BAM, it now WORKS AGAIN!!!! Wooohoooo!!!! I don't know when this was added or if I just missed it from the get-go, but it functions now! So just wanted to throw this out there for those with an older iPad 2 like I have....

  3. I know they didn't update the post for 2.71, which is a small bug fix, but just follow the firmware post on this site!

  4. The vol pedal needs a trs cable. Could have made a trs into ts and trs as well. But this way, I only need one long trs cable and a short ts cable. Stuff, I always have in my cable box, so no need for special cables, which I tend to forget at home...

  5. I have exactly the same issue - My Floor presets contain multiple controller assignments per button, and these are not carried over when I load the preset in Native. Snapshots and everything else is working fine.

  6. Just wanted top let you all know that this patch (and IR) should be in the Line 6 Marketplace section tomorrow for all Helix and HX Stomp users. Thank you so much for your continued support.

  7. Of course; I wouldn't condescend and suggest that "it's easy", as I know as a software engineer how much it irritates me when someone who has no understanding of the complexities of producing and releasing software makes that claim. But if the team does look into it and discovers it wouldn't be too much trouble, there's clearly a few users of DAWs for Linux and Android (which it may also solve) who would be grateful.

  8. Perfect! This illustrates my point very nicely, lol. Anybody who genuinely thinks that Everyday Joe Computer User can decipher any of that, much less be willing to trade their Macbook for a system that will require them to parse through reams of gibberish just to play guitar...is out of their mind. It might as well be written in sanskrit.

  9. It`s already requested on Ideascale as Helix Feedbacker. You should log in there and upvote the request. Actually, it is one of the most upvoted ones and I would like to see it in the next firmware. Here goes the link below: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Helix-Feedbacker/741209-23508#idea-tab-comments

  10. You're not gonna like this, but there's really no useful way to answer to this question...it's kinda like asking "what's a good amp to use with a Strat?" The only genuine answer is "the one(s) you like". FX are the icing on the cake, but the inherent characteristics of any amplifier are what they are, regardless... simply put, a Plexi will sound like a Plexi, no matter what you do to it. You either like it or you don't. Using a device like the HX FX is no different than having a giant pedalboard with a couple dozen individual stomp boxes. Delay/reverb/chorus/etc will all do the same thing to any dry tone...doesn't matter if it's coming from a Dual Rec, Fender Twin, or hot-rodded Marshall. Any amp that you like is the "right" choice. It's entirely subjective.

  12. Just trying to be emphatic ;)....I want stuff that's easy to use, too... and I certainly don't claim to be a genius. But the sad truth is there are a whole lot of people roaming around out there, for whom using a Linux system would produce nothing but a blank stare. That's why it'll never sell, and is also what Linux proponents don't seem to grasp... they think that because they understand it, and enjoy the process of making machines bend to their will, that everyone else is similarly capable, and willing to spend the time doing so. That just ain't the case...

  13. While my personal interests and preferences include neither professional wrestling nor Budweiser, I'll take plug'n'play over Rube Goldberg all day long. Mouth breather? It's not that LINUX is unable to be everything we'd want it to be, but that it's idealistic devotees spend most of their time on the esoteric underpinnings of the OS, and very little time on practical applications. I attribute this, as noted earlier, to the lack of financial incentive built in to the open source model. Idealism is lovely, but Junior wants a Les Paul......

  14. Linux is fun. Unless you want to use any readily available commercial audio hardware, lol.

  15. I have just ordered the HX Stomp. I let go of a TC Electronics G System and a Nova System. I'm fairly sure the Stomp will outdo both my previous units. I will be building a pedalboard around the HX Stomp and will be using an outboard compressor and tube distortion. I will probably run the Stomp through my Vox MV50 Clean.

  16. With 2.7, [ACTION] + [PAGE>] together will start the tuner, useful if you have set switch 3 to stomp instead of tuner/tap.

  17. Agreed. Still, I wish for a simple tablet/phone utility that would allow users to upload/download/store their patches, set lists, and global settings. It would sure be handy when on the road for those of us who don't want to lug around a computer, but always have our phone handy. No need for fancy editing, just a backup utility, especially useful in the event of a crash requiring a complete restore to factory settings.

  19. I can see where there are plenty of users who would love a second expression pedal (akin to the Behringer FCB1010 layout). I must admit I prefer that the Helix only has one. I am glad it does have the one as it provides an ultra portable solution that guarantees that I always have at least a volume, wah, pitchbender, etc. available but anything after that seems better left as optional. It decreases the overall footprint, weight, and cost of the Helix for those who infrequently use a second expression pedal. Additionally an external expression pedal for those who do prefer two is more easily repaired or replaced and less expensive to ship back for out of warranty repairs. Expression pedals almost inevitably go bad or require servicing eventually, at least in my experience, like almost everything else that has moving parts, so it seems like one less thing on the Helix that might require a repair. I could see where having a second pedal on the Helix itself might not only increase the cost of the unit by its inclusion but also because the delayed cost of in-warranty repairs would have to be included in the selling price.

  20. Inability to update the Helix firmware using an Android Smartphone or Android Tablet, both of which work great with a USB OTG adapter and other USB devices. And, both Android devices have plenty of processor capacity and SD Card memory to handle the Firmware, and Updater download and installation process. Heck, even the Helix Editor (essentially a slaved App for the Helix) should be operational via the USB OTG connection to these devices. The massive global proliferation of Android Mobile devices, and the looming Ban expansion of Laptops on USA bound International Flights should be more impetus for Line 6 to provide such functionality for Helix owners.

  21. I know I will be keeping an eye out for a cheap previous generation Surface tablet. I still like having a tablet on my music stand or a mic stand tablet holder connected to the Helix for eye level adjustments during practice or performance. The advent of Helix Native makes it an even more attractive option.

  22. I haven't come close to tweaking the current software and could probably spend a year doing so minus any updates. I would greatly appreciate some guidance as to the tweaking and differences between effects , such as stereo ping pong and stereo delays, and the various parameters, other than just fool around with it and see what does what ( experience is a great teacher that I can't easily afford ) . Perhaps it can be found in the forums , perhaps there is already written material or video. I'd not like to spend a lot of energy researching . If you are aware of great information for these effects and their parameters , please advise . Good job , Line 6.

  23. I own a Firehawk FX and I too hope that there will be future enhancements. But there may not be, so as an owner I get to choose how to feel about that: satisfied with the current state, or disappointed with it. I choose to be satisfied because it still does what I got it for, exactly as advertised. This discussion is not about Firehawk. It's been around for as long as I've been around this forum and happens every time a new product is released. It will happen with Helix too when the next latest and greatest Line 6 product comes along. Users of older products seem to divide themselves into one of two camps, based on their personal expectations when they bought the product. Group 1 make their purchasing decisions based on what the product will do today. If the product works as advertised they are satisfied. Any future improvements or enhancements are considered a bonus and serve to increase their satisfaction. Hence there's no anxiety about what, when, or if future goodies are pending. Group 2 make their purchasing decisions based on Line 6's history of improving products over time. They expect the product to continue to be able to do more than it does today, and are disappointed if those improvements aren't 'big' enough or don't come 'fast enough' whatever that means. In what ways should the product be improved, and for how long? The answer to those questions is different for everybody in this group, but everyone seems clear that there's always more improvements to be made, and it should be enhanced indefinitely as long as users ask for it. These users seem to choose to live in a constant state of disappointment. In their minds there are always features missing and whenever it stops being enhanced is too soon. There's nothing wrong with this viewpoint - it just seems to me to breed disappointment. This is merely the latest in an apparently unending series of threads like this that start up regularly in every product forum as newer products are released. The same old viewpoints are expressed again. The thread is usually started by someone in Group 2 saying that they are dissatisfied. They feel entitled to more updates as expressed in Ideascale - at least for another (unspecified) period of time - and have been abandoned until/unless that happens. Group 1 responds by saying they are satisfied and that updates are a bonus not an entitlement. And so it goes round and round. So all of us get to choose whether we want to be satisfied or disappointed. I am solidly in Group 1 - I find life easier when I'm satisfied with my purchasing decisions.
