  1. Helix Native needs an installed and active network adapter (even if it is offline). Obviously, the computer activation is dependent / related to that. Discussion some time ago: https://line6.com/support/topic/29053-helix-native-internet-dependency/?tab=comments#comment-226380

  6. Sry for the revival but maybe it helps someone. I think that the biggest problem is that a lot of people have (untreated/uncalibrated :) ) rooms/studio monitors and play amp sims through them and say they miss the amp in the room feel. Ofc the 6 7inch speaker on those is not gonna be able to give you the impact that a guitar cab would. What i did: got a pa speaker with a 12 inch woofer but the most important part, even if my speaker measures flat outside in my room it gets an ugly 13-15db db boost in the 80-200 range that just destroys any guitar tone(plus other problems). So i got a measurement microphone :) and tried to get a flat response out of the speaker around my listening position (you can't fix nulls and other problems without room treatment but still). It did all the difference in the world. (i can recommend dirac, mathaudio roomeq, rew(free),for my monitors i use sonarworks) you can also get Redwire impulses, that for some cabs, have far field measurements with a TC30 ref mic, Mix those in. They come with 0inch measurements + 2m/5ft ones( more useful for headphones,in my opinion). All this helped me get over my amp in the room need. :) For headphones i recommend sonarworks headphone or toneboosters morphit for headphone calibration(if it has your headphone profile) + some plugin for binaural sound like waves nx. This is ofc for a practice at home situation :). I do not recommend to do what i did, i posted this just to maybe give some ideas but i recommend trying a software like dirac, sonarworks, rew etc to see what your speakers are putting out there and for some quick fixes. One last note for a measurement mic you can get the sonarworks one, is cheap and it comes with a calibration file or an UMIK-1.

  7. I personally am very happy with the purchase of a used JTV-89. It has become one of my favourite and most used guitar and I have decent selection of nice guitars. I play a large variety of material with all different tunings and styles of music and the guitar has been a godsend for that, specially with the helix control to boot. I do notice the palm muting sounds different and I have to adjust my technique for it but it works fine. I also play green day tunes, here and there, that require a lot of palm muted downstrokes in e-flat and that is when I noticed a slight tonal difference but it is still very usuable and no one from the audience notices, just me. The one thing I didn’t expect is to utilize the models of guitars as much as I do to get an artists certain guitar tone. Early Billy Joe Armstrong: P-90 so I go with the Special model, etc. I suggest getting a used one if you can; so, you can save yourself some dough and if a new model comes out with current tech you want be at a total loss. I have been wanting another since I started getting into my JTV-89. Hope this helped.

  8. Do this If you have the old Edit installed a good practice is to make a backup if you have patches an IRs you like to be sure to keep. Go to - https://line6.com/software/ and in the first column select you Helix hardware and in the third column select you mac os and press Go Scroll down to HX Edit 2.71 and press Get Download. You should now start the download. If you are not loged in you will be prompted to do so before it will start. When finished click on the file (I do not know Mac so you need to help me out...) and make the installation. It includes all files - Edit, drivers and updater. Run Edit and see that it starts. Close Edit (important) and start Updater. You should now see your Helix and you sw version. Follow the instructions and run update of the new firmware. I always let the updater do the download. You can download firmware manually end pick it up in the updater. Rest it done by the updater and Helix. Except that you need to accept terms and start update. I always restart the Helix after finish update. Just to be safe... don't know if needed. Sure that someone will correct or add info if forgot something EDIT - Forgot to say, what I know there is no zip'ed files in the download (run PC and have never seen one there). You just make an ordinary installation on your Mac of the HX Edit program with the downloaded file from above. If you downloaded the Helix firmware earlier, its a binary file and can’t be opened or executed. It is installed via the updater into the Helix, see instruction above. Good luck //Per

  9. the only time i had any issues like this is when I had the editor open and connected to the helix. Only one program at a time can be connected to it. Shutting down the editor worked for me.

  10. I've a similar question. Can I connect my POD 2.0 to a creative soundblaster x-fi HD for recording? POD 2.0 amp output in direct/amp mode ---> double phpno cable Jack 6.3 to RCA ----> creative soundblaster x-fi HD line in RCA back panel. Is This configuration correct? See also the attached image

  12. First of all, I’d like to thank all of you for taking the time to respond. I gotta admit…I’m pretty disappointed at the tone conveyed through a couple of these posts. It’s absolutely remarkable (not in an endearing way) how people come across over an internet forum, with the responses ranging from mildly passive-aggressive to blatant douchebaggery, and a couple of helpful responses in between. Overall, the level of pretentiousness and condescension is extremely off-putting. I feel like I have a good handle on my Line 6 gear. I’ve always taken the time to learn it as well as I can, and I don’t have any problems asking for help when I need it. That’s exactly what I did here. I can only imagine how a complete noob would feel if he/she got the kind of responses found in this thread. Forums are supposed to be a place to bounce ideas off each other and a source of help, rather than bashing people. I think some of you may have severely overestimated the “elaborateness” of my idea. LOL. Forgive me, but I’m extremely confused when I see exaggerated phrases like “jumping through hoops” or “weird permutations” . This isn’t a reinvention of the wheel. I’m not suggesting the daisy-chaining of multiple PCs to be surrounded by a “wall of sound”, nor am I talking about putting PCs on either side of the stage to run in stereo and create a headache for the sound guy. In my humble opinion, this isn’t nearly as complicated as it’s being made out to be. In my head, the only thing the Headrush would be substituting for is ONE house wedge (for guitar monitoring)…that’s it. Am I guilty of SUCH a massive oversimplification? I’ve been a gigging musician for a long time, guys….just as you probably have. That’s why the condescending tone is especially annoying. We as guitarists (and musicians in general) talk about “feel” all the time. When we find that perfect guitar tone, we always talk about how good it “feels”, right? So, I’m struggling to figure out why my preference/desire for being able to “feel” the sound from the PC in the backline is being pissed on. The PC was marketed as an “amp in the room”, right? An amp in the room is conventionally found in the backline, right? So why is it so egregious for me to want to keep it there? Using the PC as a sidefill (rather than backline), or propping it on an amp stand (which I already own) could fix the issue. I’m well aware of this, just as I’m well-aware that using IEMs could solve the issue altogether. All of those solutions are viable and reasonable…not disputing that. I’m just saying those aren’t my preferred solutions, which is why I was trying to get feedback on a POSSIBLE alternative. The problem with most forums nowadays (it’s not only specific to this forum), is the fact that people feel the need to project/defend their own positions and lollipop on the ideas/opinions of others. The majority of the responses in this post were not really about answering my original question (which is kind of irrelevant now), much less how one would accomplish the idea. Instead, more time was spent telling me how wrong I was for even having the idea in the first place! LOL. My question wasn’t “how many people think this is an awesome idea?” My question was regarding the POSSIBLITY of the idea, and how it might be accomplished. That’s the problem. Everybody is in such a hurry to find a discrepancy or flaw in an OP, so they can turn around and tell somebody else how ridiculous they are for having thought that deviates from the norm (e.g. the dude who says there are so many “contradictions” in my post he didn’t know where to begin”). Instead of asking questions for clarification, most people (this gentleman included) make suggestions/criticisms on a possible unclear understanding of the original post. Personally, I’m absolutely okay with clarifying my position(s), if I’m unclear, or if I’ve given misinformation (god forbid somebody makes a mistake on an internet forum post). I’m always in favor of providing additional context if it means a better understanding and more productive exchange of ideas. Simply put: clarification > assumption in terms of effective communication, ‘specially over the interweb. After taking a crap on my entire post, I did like how the guy finally answered the original question, though. I thought that was a nice touch. Gotta love the internet…. For real....despite our obvious differences in opinions/communication approaches, I appreciate the suggestions. Peace! Mods: feel free to close this thread.
