  1. I revised my HX Effects board once again over the weekend... I keep on getting rid of stuff, although I did make a few additions. I decided to take some of the things I had on my Stomp board and put them on this. I've found that I've been using my Stomp mainly as a standalone pedal when I use it, so this just makes more sense. I did have the Meris Enzo and Polymoon, the Chase Bliss Tonal Recall and Brother, and the Wampler Dual Fusion on here before. Those were all run through a Loop Expander and controlled by MIDI. I found, though, that the MIDI aspect just became too tedious for me to want to bother with it. Also, I found that I really like the dirt on the HX Effects just as much as the analog dirt. So what I decided to do was to use the DMC.micro as two additional stomp so I can control two dirt blocks in each HX Effects preset. That way I can focus my snapshots on everything else. This will be much nicer once 2.8 comes out with the whole snapshot ignore feature thing. So here it is. This is the first time my board has been 100% digital, well, maybe ever.

  2. I got the Stryom Ojai power supply box which provides power to up to 5 devices. Works like charm and amazingly tiny. For 8 devices you would want the Zuma model. https://www.strymon.net/power/

  3. Ummm . . . combine all of . . .? If you want a tip for the best expression pedal for the HX Stomp, I'm a strong believer that the absolute best is this one: https://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifiers-effects/mission-engineering-helix-rack-expression-pedal-black/j31590000000000

  4. If you’re looking for a solution to use HX Edit while “on-the-road” without resorting to hauling around a laptop, take a look at the various Windows 10 tablets that are < $150. In the accompanying photo, I’m using a NuVision Windows 10 tablet (8.5” x 5”) to run HX Edit that is currently priced at $125. https://www.amazon.com/NuVision-Definition-Touchscreen-Quad-Core-Processor/dp/B071DW87JG

  5. Old school I guess, but I've seen lots of bands that still use monitors in front of them (or behind). Mixed right its a tried and true method that works well. And, As a guitar player i "want" to hear a little of what the FoH is getting.

  6. Yes, USB (as would also be done if one were using a laptop).

  7. My setup is similar to OP. My Helix goes to FOH, and I monitor via IEMs. Additionally, I run a Headrush 108 angled up (or my Powercab) as my backline with the sole purpose of providing some stage volume. Typically I play on stages that have audiences right up front (standing underneath the FOH speakers) and they're not in an ideal position to hear the best mix. Having that backline guarantees that the audience gets a bit of guitar volume from the stage. My volume is just loud enough to hit that first row of people, and I get a little bit of guitar bleed into my mic to give me a bit of "dimension" in my IEM.

  8. All banks are customisable. There are two that are named as User 1 and 2 but anything can be put anywhere. The zero volume patch can work like the old LP method of doing a kill switch effect.

  9. You'd have to connect to it via MIDI and use the DTedit to find out what firmware.

  10. Yep. I use a Surface Pro that was given to me. Works like a charm once you get the fingers accustomed to how Edit works with a touchscreen

  11. So, all the sound is not coming from just Helix? There's different guitars and fingers involved too? So I guess Helix cant do Andy Summers after all then... Who woulda figured... ; )

  12. How ‘bout a Line 6 Powercab Plus? They sound great and can be tilted back if needed.
