  1. Can't be done. There's no putting the Entitlement Genie back in the bottle. An entire generation has been raised to believe that the world is their ashtray. It will only get worse...

  2. I actually think L6 has done a great job of updating this unit over time. I bought mine back in February of 2016. right before 1.06 came out. Since then they have added a ton of amps, effects, and functionality to the Helix as well as introducing HX Effects, Helix Stomp and Helix Native (which I also have in my pro tools setup). They have also added quite a few high gain amps for those of us who like it nasty. The Cali IV, the 2204 Mod, the Fatality, Archetype, Badonk, Placater, etc. It already came with Quite a few from Soldano to Mesa to Bogner to Engl, 5150, Several original models, etc etc....right out of the gate.. Now they are throwing Revv into the mix? That doesn't include the massive amount of effects added. I'm pretty happy so far and I'm very excited to integrate it with my DT-50 head.

  3. There’s a simple way to accomplish what you want without using a send block, or having to waste an extra block on path B. The trick is to switch the roles of the Main L/R out and Send L/R. Use Send L/R to send to FOH and use Main L/R to send to your stage amp’s return. Then you can use the IR or Amp block (depending on what your stage amp is) on path B, no need for an extra block. This also has the advantage that the Send L/R sends a fixed level to FOH while the Main L/R volume can be used to conveniently control your stage volume from HX Stomp.

  4. I know that this is an old thread but I just bought a Helix LT and got the cheat sheet scanned, in case you or anyone else wanted one :) HELIX_LT_Cheat_Sheet.pdf

  5. I expect full Workbench-like control could be implemented in Helix. But does it make sense from a business perspective? Don't know. It would clearly add cost to the Helix product, while probably only a small percentage of Helix users would benefit. If it were developed and priced as an optional Helix add-on it could make sense (perhaps a Helix Marketplace product?).

  6. Go to "Global Settings" > Footswitches, Preset Mode Switches. There you can select the functions of the switches. Maybe one of this could fit: - "Preset/Snap" (4 presets in the upper row, 4 snapshots in the lower one) - "Snap/Prest" (4 snapshots in the upper row / 4 presets in the lower one) - "8 Snapshots" (8 snapshots in two rows)

  7. Here's a freeware program that seems to do similar stuff, though it doesn't have the pretty interface or all the features of the Redwirez one. Still, if (like me) you're not sure if making Custom IRs is a good path for you, you might want to try it out. https://github.com/ValdemarOrn/IRWorkshop

  8. So true. The gibson custom was my favorite on original vax, and danelectro is also altered. Now the danelectro is the best body for strat guitar, the gretch is great for gibson (59 sound), the neutral for modern, the 320 for the semi models... Go figure. Took me years to match the guitars to originals, a lot of body swaps, but was worth the effort.

  9. Hi, This whole thread is packed with info from people who have experience with the Updater. Some are good experiences and some are bad. :-) Higher up in these posts there are detailed instructions on how to install the Firmware updates for the Helix. I know that I shouldn’t assume anything here, but I hope that you have read and followed those instructions before reaching this situation. If you have done all the installation stages listed above, then your “screenshot” simply means that your computer is not able to communicate with your Helix. Once again, this thread is packed with comments about issues with USB connection and the Helix unit. Firstly, I would suggest that your check your USB connection. A point to bear in mind is Helix doesn’t like USB hubs and the advice is - do not use a hub to connect. Also, you mention that you are using a Windows PC, avoid connecting via the ports on the front of your computer - use the rear USB ports. All this is due to some sort of voodoo that affects the USB. O.K. now, if you have followed all the instructions above and you are using a good cable into a good USB port, the Updater application should be able to connect to your Helix and if logged in to your Line 6 account you will be able to install the new firmware. Oh, yeah! Make sure that you do NOT have the HX Edit application open at the same time as the Updater- this is a thing that can screw up USB communication with your Helix. Best to close anything running in the background while performing the update. Hope this helps/makes sense.

  11. Thanks to you both...I had the .micro and it worked good. The Morningstar looks great but the only one that I found was from Singapore. Not sure how long that would take to get here? I have had some bad experiences buying from over seas...not that I won’t again, I’m just hesitant.after talking to a cool guy from Sweetwater I have decided to try the very plain Tech 21 Midi Mouse. He said it is a basic up/down control that goes from 1-128. Which is exactly what I’m looking for...Plus it has a smaller footprint than my MeloAudio, so I might have room for another pedal or a couple mini pedals....So I got that going for me....lol i do appreciate your replies though... have a great rest of the weekend, Chris

  12. I can appreciate the anticipation. It’s like knowing that Christmas is coming, it could be at any moment... but there’s no hint or indication except that it’s sometime this spring... maybe early summer... but could be any moment. I’m really excited about the upcoming update. And while I wouldn’t call it unnerving, there is an anticipation and an excitement involved. And for some people that anticipation and excitement can lead to a bit of a let down at the realization that Christmas still hasn’t come yet. But it could... at any moment...

  13. All other considerations aside, Bluetooth often has terrible latency... sometimes as much as 500ms, depending on the device. It doesn't matter for passive music listening, because you never know it's there... but most of the time it will be totally unusable for guitar playing. Unless you actually want to hear everything as a slap-back echo, don't bother.
