  1. The technical term is QOSP. Quantity Of Soiled Pants.

  2. I think the headphones you have should work well with Helix. I know many users here have posted that they use and like those headphones. I suspect the issue is with the gain staging of your presets - probably not the headphones.

  3. Sp: I’m not sure, but could this be what you thought you had read. It is from the “pre-release notes” in the pinned thread Helix Firmware 2.80 (Available SPRING 2019), updated by DI on January 24th. ”PowerCab Plus remote support—Helix can now remotely adjust parameters in up to two L6 LINK-connected PowerCab Plus modeling speaker cabs. When one PowerCab Plus is connected via L6 LINK (110-ohm AES/EBU cable), it receives a mono signal from Helix; when two PowerCab Plus amps are daisy-chained via L6 LINK, the first cab in the chain receives the left signal and the second cab receives the right signal. From the Output > Multi or Output > Digital block, press PAGE > to view page 2 and turn Knob 2 (PowerCab Select) to choose which PowerCab you'd like to control (or both, for stereo). Just like with any amp, cab, or effect, PowerCab Plus parameters can be quickly assigned to footswitches, expression pedals, or even Snapshots DT25/DT50 remote support—Helix can now remotely adjust parameters for up to two L6 LINK-connected DT25 or DT50 amplifiers. When one DT25 or DT50 is connected via L6 LINK (110-ohm AES/EBU cable), it receives a mono signal from Helix; when two DT25 or DT50 amplifiers are daisy-chained via L6 LINK, the first cab in the chain receives the left signal and the second cab receives the right signal. From the Output > Multi or Output > Digital block, press PAGE > to view page 4 and turn Knob 2 (DT Select) to choose which DT amp you'd like to control (or both, for stereo). 4. I'm heading out of town for a couple of weeks and sent an e-mail to Line 6 asking that they hold off on the 2.8 release until I get back. I hope you guys don't mind.

  5. hi, i was wondering if you guys/gals could help my with a little project. i needed a helix preset viewer to manually convert some floor/lt presets to my hx stomp. unfortunately hx edit would not take these presets, so made a little online viewer. it is pretty basic right now, but it works, and pretty much does, what i need it to. layout/formatting of the blocks is not really pretty right now and parallel routing is not represented in the layout (splitting blocks are displayed though). i wanted to ask, if it is ok to post the url here for you to test the tool. i could need the feedback ;) please let me know. thanks

  6. Indeed it has changed. Line 6 appears to also be revolutionizing business metrics far beyond the typical ROI (Return on Investment). Now you have the new standard of NOSPs (Number of Soiled Pants). One of these days, if you're allowed to, you'll have to share with us what your target NOSP for 2019 is and if you eventually exceeded the 2018 NOSPs from the Stomp's announcement.

  7. Well thanks, now I've got a boner for something that doesn't even exist yet.

  8. Recent laptop update is the issue. Disregard any further solution.

  9. That's all well and good, but it's a night and day scenario compared to the question that the OP asked... if you're a guitar player who only needs of a handful of FX and isn't interested in amp modeling, then Helix is silly overkill... Plus, this thread is nearly 3 years old...HX FX didn't exist yet. They released that unit specifically for the OP's needs. Had the HX been released at the time, I'd have told him to get that instead for less than half the cost.

  10. You are on to something there. Distortion naturally compresses... so when you engage that, you might want to try disengaging the compressor. That can be done via snapshot, or even by applying both to the same footswitch so you toggle between them.

  11. Yes thanks, data, that was what I couldn't find. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but this part (to my understanding) suggested to me that L6-Link was repaired and working now as it should be.

  12. We are supposed to be seeing it soon, but as I was told earlier no one "promised" us it would be out this spring, they just stated that was when its supposed to be here. ; )

  13. This topic is always entertaining. In one camp you've got the "I want my update and I want it now and it better have all of the things I asked for! You promised. " and then the other extreme, "How dare you presume to demand anything of a Line6. You should be thankful they provide updates. In fact, you should be thankful they even allow you to buy a Helix. Now go Fractal yourself!" Priceless.

  14. It was my experience when I was writing SW that no matter how many geeks and robots tested the product, it always took an everyday user to break it.....

  15. If they said nothing until the release day, the same people badgering L6 for info on the 2.8 release would be badgering them about why they haven’t announced any new release yet and demanding that L6 give them a bit of info about when the next release will be and what it will contain. There is no way for L6 to win here. If they told you nothing you’d be complaining and when they tell you in advance you complain that they haven’t told you enough or often enough. 20 years in I.T. has taught me that your plan for L6 to give you a constant stream of testing and release updates and timeframes is just asking for a public relations nightmare when they inevitably fail to hit one of their release dates due to an unforeseen issue found in testing. In the current era of social media pile-ons, it’d be a disaster of a business plan. Let them do their work and release it when it’s free from major bugs and working how they want.

  16. Sorry, I should have included a bibliography. I got the descriptions from the Strymon and BOSS web sites: https://www.strymon.net/bigsky/ https://www.boss.info/us/products/rv-6/

  17. Just use Helix for the effects just as if you were putting a pedal board in front of your amp. Many people have (and still do) put all their effects in front of their amp. http://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3d89ab58b4cb30605e3/application/pdf http://line6.com/data/6/0a06439c1814857b658e41b50a/application/pdf

  18. Use snapshots works for me no delay in switching at all, there's plenty of you tube stuff on them

  19. Hi.. Now that, I've not tried... great suggestion.. I'm glad to hear collaboration with others at setting the volume at about 10 or so for input to an instrument level amp.. which is where I'm finding a transparent level. thanks.

  20. I took what may be a goofy approach and effectively "disabled" the big knob. I set the global for it to only control the spdif outputs (which I will never use). Then I set the other output globals (1/4" XLR) to either "instrument" or "line" depending on how i plan to use them. That way all volumes and levels are controlled from within the patch and not dependant on the weird (to me) big knob.

  21. If you are running the 1/4 into an amp FX loop that would be deafening? Mine sits at around 10 o clock and that's loud

  23. Well, I have to say that we should be thankful that the Helix has enough lows that they can be cut. Some modelers I've used can be so wimpy in that department and although some have global EQs, there isn't much low end information to boost or cut. I prefer a device that has enough of the entire spectrum so that I can cut where I need to cut. I don't have my own Helix yet but I certainly hope its EQs are more capable and effective than the last Line 6 modeler I had.
