  1. Well, now I see why DI doesn't post here as often. "Why thing no do thing nobody ever said thing do?" "Why no list of things thing no do compared to completely different thing?" "Why no fix/add thing specific to my use?" Act like because you spent $1500 you're on some special list of people who deserve to be exactly pleased all the time.

  3. --- [1] Last Saturday, 6/8/19, at L'Auberge Casino, Baton Rouge, we saw Little River Band. Before the concert, I went up to the stage to see the LRB guitarists' guitar setups. Both of the quite talented guitarists (Rich Haring, lead; Collin Whinnery, 2nd Ld) used Helix floors. They had no such silly things as guitar amps. Yuck. For guitar monitors, Haring had a PowerCab, looked like a 12"; & Whinnery had a Headrush, looked like FRFR112. During the concert, the guitars sounded great. --- [2] Last year (April 2018) at L'Auberge, LRB had just started using the Helixes. After this 6/8/19 concert, at the band autograph-signing meet-&-greet, as I had done in 2018, I asked Whinnery how he was doing with his Helix. He said that he loved his Helix. --- [3] Line 6 company people, you should contact these two guitarist, & get them to endorse the Helix. I know that I love my Helix LT. Danke & Slainte, Richard

  4. “Word, dog!” Or, whatever the term is that the young people use nowadays! (As long as it doesn’t contain “Like” or “So”- that makes me want to puke!) Ahh! If only that could be true! Although, theoretically it could work - with the amount of noxious gas from the Bull Dust dropped on all the forums across the worldwide web! ;-)

  5. Right - that always happens!! :-) You already know exactly how this will go down..... V2.8 is released to mostly positive reviews, with a few people pointing out how their favorite feature is not included (e.g. a tuner in HX Edit). Then things will be focused on the few inevitable bugs (How on earth did this get through beta testing?? Bunch of losers!) and a bug fix release v2.81 within a month or so. By September the first 'When is v2.9 (better yet, v3.0) coming and what's in it?' thread will be posted and off we go again.... The circle of life among L6 customers.

  6. Thanks for the concern, but I don't see the point of worrying about the splinter in my eye when many have a 2 x 4 in theirs ; ) That said, I hope that 2.8 pleases "Everyone" once released, not just me.

  8. Baaaarrrrrrfffffff! Not only does this darn forum not let you use emojis - it just told me that I have used my quota of “reactions” for today. Hell, how can anyone limit reactions - it happens when it happens, for fooksache! So, arislaf, you need to know, that made me laugh like a lunatic! ;-)

  9. That's the LT homie. What you want is the Headrush gigboard with Helix guts, lol. I think L6 has enough SKUs in the Helix family.

  10. Make sure that the amp and Helix are plugged into a Line Conditioner - a good EMI filtered power strip should do it. Make sure the power strip isn't on the same house circuit as fluorescent lights, rheostats, refrigerators, microwaves, etc. Swap out cables. Check if the noise is in the headphones or just the amp. Does it have a ground switch? You'll want the 1/4" OUT set to INSTRUMENT. Depending on your pickup's output (SC, HB?), you might want to set the Input Pad. Turn on the Noise Gate. Turn down guitar volume. Turn off all the effects. Turn them back on one at a time. All I can think of just now.

  11. Agreed. I notice on all pictures and even on my LT that the metal tab is only on the right side XLR Out. This is most likely a contact point to ground (middle pin on XLR) to enable the separation of L/R channels when R Channel is plugged in. The 1/4" out has this internally, probably using a stereo TRS jack.

  12. I use an LT, and most certainly it can do what it's big brother does. Snapshots control parameters. Take the time to learn how to do it, and enjoy it to the fullest. Presets: Loads an amp and effect order of your choice. Snapshots: Loads different parameters and on/off states of the amp(s) and effects loaded in the preset. It's like "presets" within each "preset". Since you already know how to toggle effects on/off with snaps you only need to learn how to get the parameters working. The easiest way is to do it on the device (not in edit) by PUSHING while you turn a parameter knob. Brackets will appear around the number and when it does, that number can now be changed from snapshot to snapshot. In HX Edit you can "shift > left mouse click" (on the parameter) to assign that parameter to snapshots.

  13. This function works the same way in all the Helix products. You most certainly can change parameters with snapshots in the Helix LT. You have to assign the parameters you want to control to the Snapshot Controller. To do it on the unit itself, just push and turn the knob for the parameter you want to control. Take a look at the 2:15 mark of this video:

  14. Thank you for the friendly interpretation of my cryptic translator. :-) Actually I haven't managed to create several snapshots with different drive settings of an amp with HX-Edit for my Helix LT. This has strengthened the impression in me that you can only activate or deactivate blocks and cannot change any parameters. I envy those who succeed and wish me the same ability! It seems for me now that LT do not follows the big brother in all ways.

  16. hi yes that would be awesome! A current work-around is limited; use [SEND] block to Sendout > FOH or AMP. You'll lose the use of MAINout and a BLOCK but now you can receive FOH mix to Stomp AUXin, control vol, IEM with headphone out. It would great help if they add this, especially those of us with 'silent stages', sequence or clip tracks, 'pit' work, etc. I (and a few others) have posted this on L6 Ideascale: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/STOMP-AUXin-setting-to-Headphones-ONLY-not-feeding-MainL-R/951072-23508#idea-tab-details Please up vote, thanks! 20. I think the purpose of the metal clip in one side and not the other is to allow Helix to detect if only the mono XLR is connected. This will automatically mix down the stereo blocks to mono on the XLR out.

  21. +1 to the above. I also have JBLs (LSR308). Those Kalis are getting raves and would be at the top of my list if I were looking today, but I'm used to my JBLs. Do remember that your patches will still sound different through different rigs (even other ones that are meant to be "flat" and "accurate" and at different volumes. But this is a very good way to get a close approximation.

  22. I've always greatly admired LRB and their musicianship. I rank them right up there with people like Toto, Steely Dan, Atlanta Rhythm Section and many of the other great "session bands" of the late 70's and 80's. That's why it doesn't surprise me at all given the range of their musical styles they'd adopt the Helix to simplify their stage act. Their kind of music is a clear example of where the Helix can shine.

  23. In the studio (this is not applicable for live performance), I use LUFS metering (not K-System, which is quite different) to balance preset levels. DI is correct about needing to use your ears, but I wanted a way to be able to step through presets rapidly in the context of a song, without having to adjust volume after each switch, so that the level would at least be "in the ballpark." After finding a candidate preset, then I tweak the final volume by using the channel faders, not the Helix. I balanced the presets In my Amazing Multiband Helix Preset Pack, which are designed to work well with chords, by using a combination of peak and LUFS metering, and then doing final tweaks by ear. Regardless, as DI points out, how you perceive level will be different compared to how the LUFS algorithm perceives level. Still, to my ears, it's closer to reality than either traditional peak or RMS metering.

  24. +1. Saw LRB last March, and thought the band was exceptionally good. Unlike a lot of "nostalgia" bands they did some new material, which I thought was the strongest music in their set. The guitarists are indeed talented, work well together, and given how they sounded, definitely know their way around the Helix. 70s rock is NOT my thing, but LRB's musicianship and vocals are just so darn good I'll make an exception in their case :)

  25. Actually Spikey, I think you missed my point which is somewhat re-interpreted in DI’s dead wife analogy. I just don’t see that there is any reason or expectation to put out a list of how our completely new product (which is a new line altogether and not really the successor to the POD line) is different from one of our other products. It was simply here is the new product, it has some L6 link functionality, here is what it CAN do. If that works for you, buy it. I think the goal of Helix was to make a higher quality modeler to get into that market.

  26. AND in post #2008 on page 101, from DI himself! Justin Hitchborn said: ↑ "Yes. The headphone amp isn't as large as the one in Helix/LT/Rack because of board real estate; that's really the only thing that isn't quite identical to its bigger brothers. " DEFINITIVE! EDIT: ONLY 298 pages to go!

  27. Since my Stomp won't arrive till Friday, I decided to wade through the TGP HX Stomp thread. There, in post #1975 on page 99(!) I found a reference that confirms (though not actual specs) what you said. So, for OP's edification (thanks to elantric): quick tip - for the relatively weak Headphone Output on HX Stomp Edit : to clarify when using 250ohm Beyer DT880 headphones Samson QH4 - headphone amp http://www.samsontech.com/samson/products/processors/qh4/qh4/

  28. S/PDIF is digital, so you'd need some way to convert it to analog to use the tuner.

  29. Apples and oranges. Where's the template for 'professional speed' (which is meaningless, as stated) in the modelling sector? Citing your own authority straight after a logical fallacy of false equivalence is not persuasive. As pointed out earlier, this is baseless moaning couched in flawed rhetoric.

  32. Would LOVE to have an editor on my IPAD pro. Love how easy it is to edit patches using my H9's. Leaning over is killing my back! Another cool option would to have a small hardware controller that you could plug in to the Helix allowing you to place it on a desk etc. Replicate just the buttons on the Helix.

  33. The manual has some general guidance but there is still the likelihood of the input gain being significantly different to the helix hardware. Let's put it like this - I want my strat to sound exactly the same on a patch installed to both the hardware and native. I have input pad set to off. How should the input knob in my interface (which is set to instrument but still has adjustable gain) be adjusted to ensure the model on native is seeing the same level input as the helix floor? Likewise if I use the floor input pad where do I then set my interface for that? What is the idiot proof way of doing this? To be clear we are not asking how to normalize input of different guitars we are asking how to match native input to floor input as exactly as possible Thanks.
