  1. Hi guys! Hope everyone it’s fine! My name is André, i’m a producer and guitar player that loves gear specially my Helix!! So, I just create my YouTube channel where I am making demos/comparison between a lot of gear and specially between real amps and Helix! My main goal it’s to provide you the best tones I can get with all the gear I can get my hands on and share with all of you! :) I will make a lot of demos with Helix too and I will give all the presets for free. Go check it and if you like, subscribe! I am currently uploading at least two videos a week, that’s a lot of work, so I really aprecia-te if you can help me growing this channel by subscribing and sharing the content if like. hope to see all there!! cheers

  2. It's not L6's fault... The Illuminati made them do it.

  4. It came out last December, did'nt you know? It's the one with the Tuner in the Editor.

  5. Thanks, everyone, for your comments. What I ended up doing was abandoning the installation from my zbook windows7 PC which had Helix LT and Updater on it (as well as VLC and itunes and that's it) and broke out my old windows 8 Samsung tablet that I used for my GuitarPort. I installed HX Edit again (this time on the win8 tablet), and ran the updater and then everything went fine. Thanks again! Tye

  6. Thanks for the response! I will try the aggregate device idea, and if that doesn't work I'll remove the other interface to test things. I'm new to all this so the advice is helpful. The reason for using two interfaces is that it's easier to have a dedicated interface for playback because the Helix gets moved around, is not always on, etc.

  7. Well there's not a lot to go on here for diagnosing what's going on. I have well over 200 presets and palm mute to some extent on most of them and they sound perfect...better than most amps as far as clarity and definition. The fist things I tend to think of when I hear someone mentioning buzzing are cab/IR blocks and how they're setup as far as mics, mic mixes, and mic placements, high cuts which is often related to bad cab/IR and micing setups, and occasionally listening position relative to the FRFR speaker such that you're getting overwhelmed by the horn in an FRFR. I suppose it could also be due to palm muting technique if you're coming from a traditional setup which tends to be less articulate and therefore more forgiving when it comes to palm muting. But without more information on how you have your signal chain setup it's pretty hard to come up with an answer.

  8. Tye FYI, Nowhere in the installation notes does it mention Line 6 Monkey. Monkey is not, and never has been needed to update Helix or HX products. Furthermore, when going through the update process, the instructions are clear about not having any other applications running that may interfere with USB communication - especially HX Edit or any other Line 6 software that is not part of the upgrade. Hope this clarifies some of the issues that you were experiencing. Good to know that you have managed to rectify the situation.

  9. Yeah, there's that. But also - Why do we specifically need tube amps? Use the what sounds good. I mean, unless backlined, I have never used a tube amp. I've always used solid state. And I don't think anyone is can tell me my tone is bad.

  10. All the stock models are of tube amps. Here is the list of which real amps correspond to the models names: https://line6.com/data/6/0a06434c087052430f5d6523b/application/pdf/POD HD Series Model Gallery - English ( Rev E ).pdf For a crunchy hard rock tone you can't go wrong with some of the marshall models. For each amp model automatically matched cab experiment with the various mic options available to see which one suits best your needs _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X

  11. What's written in the HX schematic diagram at the jacks, and confirming it with calculations of the circuits involved. Pretty much industry standard, everyday instrument level impedance. Multimeter would be more of the standard bulk DC resistance. Subtle difference between that and impedance, which considers reactance of any capacitors or inductors involved. Both are correct, one is a passive reading, the other circuit active. Resistance is the resist of a circuit not including reactance in a circuit that is passive. Reactance occurs when a voltage/signal is applied and reactance becomes parts of it. Impedance by definition, is a function of frequency, which infers the presence of a voltage/signal. Resistance doesn't require that. Phil and Ben have the passive aspects, while I managed to dig out the active aspects that are more to do with impedance as specified in the documents, rather than just resistance. We're all pretty much correct on that one.

  12. The Secret to a Delicious Metal/Rock Tones on the POD HD series: The Q Filter. There is a FREE(!) POD HD guide on the Internet by a creator named "MeAmBobbo" that is well-worth your time (and a donation to his page). Line 6 should put this guy on the payroll. The guide is professionally laid out and is written in laymen's terms. It's easily the BEST guide I have ever seen for ANY Line 6 product. He does offer a "deep-dive" for techies (the frequency spectrum charts are amazing!), but the majority of his guide is written in plain English for we simple folk! Ha! I've seen some tone settings that use three or four filters in a row in the pre-amp line and always wondered, "Why in the hell are they using all of these filters?" The "Q Filter" section in the guide is what really brought my tones to life. The easiest way to explain it is that the Q Filter helps you find the frequency that is making the tone sucky (to your ears) and allows you to "pull" it out of the mix. I have found that eliminating that freq completely is often worse than leaving a little bit in. http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/ MeAmBobbo states right up front that this is not meant to be a "read all 80 pages(!) at once and know everything" kind of guide. It's more of a chapter-driven, I-need-help-on-my-tone kind of guide. He also concentrates primarily on metal tones, versus crafting the perfect clean Blackface Fender 2x12 combo tone. Hope this helps!
