  2. Split that into paragraphs and I'll try to read it... :)

  3. I can see why Line 6 moved the "commercial" presets over to a separate forum, but I don't want anyone who might be interested to miss out on Freemen's outstanding set of new presets. Anyone playing blues, funk, soft rock, hard rock, alt rock, country, etc would benefit from these, and they're a great bang for the buck (128 presets with snapshots, IRs, tons of tonal variety, blah blah blah). I posted a mini review over here.

  4. $1,600 euros and they say it can run four amp models at once. It also has a touchscreen. It will be interesting to hear how good the modeling is. Whatever the case, I don't see myself migrating away from Helix for a long time...not even if there's a Helix 2.0 in two or three years.

  5. And you can tailor them using the input impedance. This makes a giant difference.

  6. There are some great lightweight digital bass amp heads out there. It's amazing how small and light an 800 watt package has become. But any good amp design of the same wattage will do the same thing - bass head, PA amp, or guitar power amp. After that, it largely depends on the cabinet.

  7. I bought the "Classic rock & hard rock" pack last Weekend. I didn't have much time to check out all of this pack. But the few patches i tested were great. Thank you for another great work that save me hours of trying to find good patches by myself :-)

  8. That goes double. By far the best Boston sound I've ever heard. Except the original, of course.

  9. THAT, is the closest I've heard to that ellusive Boston sound. Very well crafted.

  10. Well, I know the answers that Eric Klein, the guy who was/is actually responsible for making the design decisions on the product has said, so I think that's pretty close to knowing the reason why. Someone mentioned this earlier, but I do think that part of it early on was related to the graphics engine and them not liking the way the meters would perform back then. The refresh rate is much faster now, so having useful meters on the display would be more doable now.

  11. Can great tones be had from a Helix without meters? YES, proven time and time again. Can great tones be had from a Helix with meters? YES, proven time and time again by those that connect to a Board or DAW and monitor the meters those provide. IMO: I don't need a speedometer to tell me if I am going to fast or too slow. BUT - it often saves me from speeding tickets. I don't need a thermometer to tell me if I am too hot or too cold. But rather than throw logs on the fire and open the windows until I feel right, it nice to get the temp to 72 and know I will be immediately comfortable. That's what meters are all about... quick reference for general usage. NEEDED? No! CONVENIENT? Yes, I like them. If you don't agree with my opinion I have no problem with that! IIRC... the delay on getting a really accurate tuner was due to the nature of how graphics were handled on the Helix. The update that gave us a good tuner (including a Strobe) should be more than capable of providing a decent meter block!

  12. Spent some time tonight trying everything to get happy with the auto swell pedal. In the end it does ok, but not sure it will be replacing the volume pedal for swells.

  13. Loving the Helix. Created some cab IRs from a Friedman 2x12 (vintage 30s). Wanted to share them with the community. http://www.studiocat...an_2x12_cab.zip Three basic mic positions for most of the IRs. 1 = center 2 = edge of cap 3 = cone 1o = center off-axis 2o = edge of cap off-axis 3o = cone off-axis Multiple mics were used (SM57, SM7b, MD421, RE20, RE320, C414). The center positions are bright. If that's not to your liking, make sure to try the other positions. Enjoy!
