  1. I purchased a JTV 69S last year. It is a really cool guitar. Play it exclusively for electric needs. Very versatile. Love to play acoustic and have a Alvarez Yairi. Really nice look, feel, sound. A friend bought a nice Alvarez but not a Yairi. Huge difference in playability and sound. Am hoping for a similar improvement in a US Custom version. Want a really nice guitar that is also cool. We'll see. I just ordered one. Call me stupid. Hope it works. May have a JTV 69S to sell. Or maybe keep for parts and just to have two. The US will be a HSS. What I have is a SSS, 3 tone burst. Anyone own a US version that could comment? Good or bad.

  2. Thanks. I am just a casual player that only plays at home. Despite going all-in with the Helix platform (including hundreds of dollars for IRs and amp packs) a few years ago, I'm going back to just using tube amps and some vintage pedals that I already own. I am in IT and I have had a ton of fun figuring out how to use the Helix and it's infinite routing options. At the end of the day, I don't really use it very often. It's also a great guitar interface, but I am interested in getting an Apollo X4 interface from Universal Audio. Their Unison technology is awesome and are the only company that offers a Marshalll endorsed and co-devleoped plug-in for the Marshall Jubilee (my absolute favorite amp). Same with the Fender Deluxe plug-in. Put those in one of the Unison slots and the impedance matches what a real guitar would be going into the same amp. It's as close as you can get to the real thing when recording. If my Helix Floor doesn't sell at a reasonable price, my plan is to just keep it and use for effects only running into the Apollo through the S/PDIF jacks to keep it in the digital realm.

  3. Lets keeps the goals on the football field. I hope its never released, until its ready to be. If that excites people and makes them blow snot bubbles then so be it. And Phil's not a politician, he tells it as he see's it (unless NDA's are involved of course). I may not always agree with him, but I respect that. ; )

  4. My understanding is that if you're using 6 low DSP blocks, you might be able to use additional effects, rather than being limited by having only 6 blocks to use. It has nothing to do with changes to algorithms or better DSP optimization. It's being included "by popular demand".

  7. In case anyone else runs into this issue, those tabs are only for the tooth on the XLR cable to lock into. It's not a major issue if the tab is missing, you just won't have normal XLR locking action. I ended up fixing an issue with my tabs, but first a warning: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME, ESPECIALLY IF YOUR HELIX IS UNDER WARRANTY. When I got home from rehearsal Sunday night and pulled my Helix out of its case, I heard a tiny loose part rattling around inside the Helix itself. So I pulled the old pick-inside-the-acoustic move, holding the Helix upside down and shaking the loose part towards the opening for the expression pedal. Out popped this: After scratching my head for a second, I realized it was one of the tabs at the top of the XLR outputs. Sure enough, one was missing and one was pushed halfway in: Compare to my gig backup Helix: I submitted a support ticket with L6, but since my Helix is way past warranty and would cost me shipping and bench fees, I decided to fix it myself. Opening up the Helix isn't too hard if you can work a screwdriver and Allen key, but again, DO NOT DO IT IF YOUR UNIT IS UNDER WARRANTY. I don't know for sure about the Helix specifically, but with electronics generally you run the risk of zapping something with static or breaking a connection if you're not careful. Anyway, opening up my unit, this is what the top of the XLR connectors looked like. You can see where one tab is coming out and one is gone: The tabs are just a simple press fit, nothing clicks into place, so it's not too surprising that after 4.5 years and lots of rehearsals and gigs with random house XLR cables they would start to work loose. Pushing them back in was easy: I also ran some CA glue between the tabs and the connectors to try to delay any repeat of this happening. Incidentally, on this unit one connector is an Amphenol and the other is a JT. The Amphenol has a little spring-loaded wheel: that's the switch that tells the Helix the right XLR is being used. You can just see it on the inside of the left wall of the right connector: Back to normal:

  8. Things like this are why I make effort to avoid proprietary file formats, connectors, dongles, etc.

  9. I don't know that anyone from Line 6 ever said that their goal was to increase the pace/size of updates compared to what they've been. I think it's more like the Helix Core was necessary for them to continue doing updates at a reasonable pace for all the SKUs that are part of the HX/Helix universe. From what I've seen behind the scenes, it certainly things they are more nimble now, and there are kind of a lot slick improvements they're making. I think the pace may increase a bit, but don't hold me to that, and, as always, I don't speak for Line 6. I know that the 3.0 is going to be quite large, though.

  10. Apologies for the political tangent and thanks for the links to the official data. I'm a little sensitive to the trade stuff. Living in Canada and watching the renegotiation of NAFTA it was irksome to hear your President repeatedly lying being mistaken about important facts. It still is.

  11. Fwiw, I really couldn't care less when it arrives... I've managed well over 2 years without 2.9 and the magic beans contained therein, whatever they are. I'll take it whenever it gets here, gratefully... but I just don't have the time or the energy to be perched on the edge of my seat for this stuff.

  14. SUCCESS!! So I was having the same frustrating SPINNING WHEEL issue while using Logic Pro as many others... but I made one change that seems to have fixed the problem! I just turned off my internet connection (WiFi) then tried opening the plugin in Logic, but this time instead of it causing the constant spinning wheel, it prompted me for my account login info (...because of no internet connection). But this time where I had previously been connecting over my home Wi-Fi... I instead connected to my iPhone via PERSONAL HOTSPOT... typed in my password and it loaded right up! And after that first successful attempt I now seem to be able to use my home Wi-Fi without any issues and everything seems to be working as it should! DANG....FINALLY!!!
