  1. Hi, all I think I've just about got used to my new Helix LT operation. But I'm starting to realise that I have another big hurdle to jump: Models and their usage. As someone who hasn't spent a fortune on pedals, most of the names of the effects models (once 'decoded' to their original trademarks) are still pretty much unknown to me. It's proving difficult to know where to start. I'll give you an example... I wanted to build a preset including a compressor for soloing. I think I counted 5 compressors. They all work differently. Some of them seem to work better after the amp/cab model, and some before. Some of the control descriptions are a bit vague, and some are highly technical. Some of the controls don't seem to do anything, and some models don't seem to work well in any settings. And that's just the compressors! Without having to become an expert in all "62 Amps, 37 Cabs, 16 Microphones, and 104 Effects", is there a guide anywhere to the best use of individual models, and where and how they work best? It's probably a big ask, but I thought I'd try anyway. I saw the helix help website, which helps decodes the funny names, but doesn't go on to give any clues for usage. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

  2. I am a bass player who uses the Helix Floor exclusively now and find that it takes all pedals in front really well. I don't use anything other than the Helix anymore and I find that the Obsidian model really nails the B7K.

  3. IIRC, a normal footswitch won't work but you could easily wire in a 10K resistor with the switch, then it will respond just like an expression pedal moving instantly from "heal down" to "toe down". At that point you can assign anything to that switch that you could assign to an expression. Values, auto engage, toggle, etc... etc...

  4. Imagine how overwhelmed you would be if you had all the hardware versions of the items that were in the Helix :) This is my suggestion.... Decide on ONE TONE you are after Look online for a rig rundown, or see if others are talking about how to get that tone Setup a similar setup in the Helix.... learn the effects as needed. Once you do that 5 -10 times you will start to understand a few differences between similar effects. Over time (and only over time) will the knowledge begin to stick. IMO: Hearing how it all interacts is the ONLY WAY to understand, no explanations can really do it on their own.

  6. I registered a Spider V MKII and never received any such code. I did contact support and I'm waiting. If it is 'somewhere' and I'm not seeing it, do provide some direction; thank you.

  7. Just a guess as I don't use it this way, but in Windows, get to the Sound panel in Control Center. On the Recording Tab, set the Helix as the default. Then use a separate path in your preset with "Mic" as the input and USB 1/2 as output. Plug your mic into the Mic input. That should get it. Post back and let us know if it worked, I'm curious.

  8. Hello everyone! Initially I had trouble balancing the various sounds of my beloved Shuriken, the acoustic sounded too boomy and the Strato too small, I think I found the right balance, what do you think?

  10. Dears: I am editing this post because after 2 weeks, Line6 support recommended me to bring back my unit to the shop and get a new one because I was probably having a hardware issue. I did it and I must say that the new unit works like a charm. I can do anything I should be able to do without any issue so far. I am keeping my original post below this lines for rhe sake of completeness but I was wrong on my guesses: --------------------- Thank you "dugbug": I was about to return my Amplifi 30 amp because it randomly stopped working, got bluetooth disconnections ,etc... and thanks to your post I just realized that what happened is that it WAS CRASHING because I saved a tone in Bank 1A. I did a factory reset and now works like a champ UNLESS I "dare" to save a tone to the unit. I am happy again, since the unit is very cool.. actually it made me play the guitar again regularly! So: JUST DO NOT EVER USE THE TONE SAVING "FEATURE" TO THE DEVICE: it will very likely corrupt your device memory. Final note: this is still happening on firmware 2.60 which is UNBELIEVABLE... after 2-3 years and Line6 didn't manage to fix such a stupid bug.... Here is my sugestion to Line6: if you cannot pay a single developer to fix this bug properly, why don't you just open source the code. I am sure that the community will do AMAZING things with this cool amp as well as fixing the F...ING bug. Enjoy!
