  1. #coronagoals. I had set myself the goal to master all the parts in the epic final solo of Hotel California in my downtime during this crisis. I found out there are 11 parts!! (6 electric guitars, 2 acoustic guitars, 1 bass part, the organ part and of course programming drums). Well, it took a little longer than expected. I recorded all electric guitars and the bass using line 6 helix into an Apollo X8. I recorded the acoustic guitars with a stereo set of Neumann KM184s, finally I recorded the organ with a Roland RD-2000 and used the Luna Shape instrument to get the right tone, and I mixed everything in the new Universal Audio Luna DAW. I used a custom patch based on the tweed amp with a custom IR for all the electric guitars and I use the standard Cali 1 bass preset for the bass guitar. Here is the download link for the Helix Patch and the custom IR I created: https://www.dropbox.com/s/enyre15p7n6eu07/Dimed Tweed LesP.hlx?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/q78oi5dro8ssx4k/50MU67edge-50Web121cap-100.wav?dl=0 Be sure to use the custom IR and save it in position 33 Love to hear your feedback! Very happy user. Here is my first full mix: https://youtu.be/iVOYkehL2Hw 50MU67edge-50Web121cap-100.wav Dimed Tweed LesP.hlx

  2. You probably 100 percent right , it is indeed the trigger problem which we dont have on a keyboard indeed (key-on signal) , well thats a pity for me , but hey life goes on :) . But thnx anyway for your help and your idea with the autoswell , i wasn't aware of that option either yet , and it is also a wanted option dori

  3. Hi Dori, you can adjust the extent of this with the settings of the autoswell block in the signal chain, to make it more or less sensitive. But to an extent, I don't think you'l ever get exactly what you want here, if you're comparing it to a keyboard. A keyboard has a distinct trigger of each note -- when you press a key -- which makes it simple for an effect to delay a certain amount for every note you play, because it knows exactly when that note started. It's not the same with a guitar, where the only thing that identifies the start of a note is the (sometimes subtle) volume and frequency change relative to the note before it. In short, it's much harder to make every note you play on guitar behave the way you're asking, unless you're muting every string before you pick the next, and in fact I'm not aware of any guitar effect that does quite what you're asking for.

  4. I have an update that should benefit anyone who stumbles onto this issue. The Line6 crew are tracking this issue down but here are some steps I received the worked for me and will save you re-installing at all. If you run across this hang while running the trial, do the following: 1. Kill your process (Force quit Mainstage/Logic). 2. Turn off your WiFi (this is key). 3. Start Mainstage/Logic up again and try bringing up Helix Native. 4. You'll get a window saying it couldn't connect to your account and asking for login credentials. Leave that window up. 5. Turn WiFi back on. 6. Enter your login credentials. That should do it.

  5. I use my Ipad with the App OnSong for Note-sheets and also to change the Presets from the Helix Floor. When connected with the usb-cable and the camera-adapter from the ipad it works perfectly. The Helix receives the bpm from the App and the delay works. Then I wanted to get rid of the cable and found the wireless adapter from yamaha MD-BT01. Connection works and the presets also change - BUT the tap tempo is very irregular. Some information comes, but not nearly in time. And so the delay always skews the tone so i can't use this. Does anyone have an idea? thanks for your help!

  6. Hi @Pappy35 really sorry if you misinterpreted my post, as in no way was that intended to devalue your views. I was merely saying that 2 button operation isn't a problem for home users so from your perspective the Pod Go is a 'home run which I totally get. The observation relates to any mfx that requires 2 footswitches to be pressed simultaneously. For many gigging players it can be a real problem particularly if you have smaller feet. Tap dancing with single switch operation isn't the problem...it's the double switch. Some people can cope with it easily but others can't. Anyway, sorry again if Inadvertently came across as devaluing your views, genuine misunderstanding and wholly unintended.

  7. Well, I have the FM3. It's a fine device, and it sounds good. I'd say the same thing about the Helix. I did own the Fractal AX8 briefly, but I really didn't give it much of a chance. I couldn't make heads or tails of the hardware apart from the editor. The FM3 is a little better in that respect, but still not great. UI isn't Fractal's strong suit, for sure. I know people rave about Fractal's editors, but I think FM3 Edit is rather clunky and slow, too. There are just too many freaking tabs and knobs. The thing is, there are some people who love that about it. So it depends on what type of person you are. To me, the design intent behind each device is so different, that even though they're both modelers, they're really in different universes. The Helix is the first multi-FX that makes me feel like I'm playing with real pedals. Not in the sense that everything is exactly the same, but in the fact that changing stuff is immediate, and turning knobs and changing parameters is a very interactive thing. I don't get that feeling with other modelers. To me, the thing that is nice about the FM3 is that there's a level of curation as far as the IRs that are paired with each amp model. It's different than Line 6's approach. Line 6 is very much about giving you a blank slate. Fractal seem to pick IRs that highlight certain qualities in the amp models. The other thing that's kind of cool with the FM3 is that multi-function switching. You can do a lot with the three footswitches. However, it's also kind of annoying after awhile. It seems that whatever you want to do on the FM3, you have to hold down a footswitch to get the next view. If I really wanted to use the FM3 live, I'd probably want the FC6 to go along with it. That's another $500, though.

  8. Modeling is modeling...it's math and calculations. Everything beyond that is simply subjective impressions and is based on belief and not fact. The truth is there's probably FAR more difference in the tone of either system based on the output sound device you connect it to. At this level of equipment either of them can do whatever you need it to do once you master it effectively. No one in your audience will ever know the difference between the two, and neither of them is going to turn you into a guitar god all by themselves, so go with whatever makes you most comfortable and get to work with it.

  9. I don't know of any way to do it with a single pedal, but here's one way you can do it with an autoswell and a tremolo block. Adjust the 'attack' parameter on the autoswell to change the amount of time before the tremolo fades in. Delayed_Trem.hlx

  10. The volume and preset knobs dont work. I'm not talking about some obscure parameter of some obscure effect or amp model. Ok if a delay was off here or there, you could certainly live with that. They made a software update (and didn't properly vet it) that renders the entire control apparatus useless. That's not a small glitch. I reverted back to 2.82. Still a huge fan of Line 6 and it's products.

  11. What about the volume and preset knobs? Not working. Absolute trash. I wish you guys would do a better job of QCing your updates before you put em out. This is unacceptable.

  14. Just installed 2.90 on my Helix LT. Volume knob not working, preset knob not working, sometimes no sound. All seems to resolve when I turn the device off and on, but then reoccurs! any thoughts?

  15. I just wanted to pass on a solution that worked for me when I found a normal 20' USB wasn't working between my PC and my Powercab. I ended up getting a 25' repeater and it has worked great. I've tested it on the Helix, The Powercab and even used it to update my Alesis drum kit last night, and it worked great. The Alesis update was quite large with multiple stages and it worked perfectly. I wont link as this post isn't to sell a cable but the brand is Tripp Lite.

  16. Is it ok to turn the Helix LT on and off (I'm talking about the main power) a lot, I mean several times per day? Is there a standby mode instead?

  17. I hate to break it to you, but you can give up on this one. THEY HAVE NEVER GIVEN THE FIREHAWK NEW AMPS OR EFFECTS. As I understand it, it was created from day one as a budget friendly simple solution that had the best of the best of all of their old PRE Helix stuff. I haven't even seen any evidence that they can add new amps and effects, and I never recall in any release notes that that was in store for the future. It is what it is - a budget device carrying the best of the best of Line 6's older models and effects. I bought it knowing that, and it's been great at what it does. I do think bug fixes are something they still intend to correct for as long as they still sell it. If you have bugs that occur regularly I'd submit them and we'll see what happens. I personally have weird glitchy stuff with the app itself, but over all nothing too much more crazy than any other electronic device. You can give up on the looper. I agree it was bad design, but that was complained about from day one, and they repeated that mistake in the HX Stomp. So far they've shown no desire to change it. Just a tip - if you use the volume pedal you can keep that from happening. Think of it as a three button deletion. Turn volume down - delete - turn volume back up. I agree it's a great product. That's why at the end of the day, for $450, I think a person should be happy with it. The only product line they are currently promising to release new stuff for is the HX line. All the other lines seem to be done. With the HD500X they USED to release new amps and models, but then they stopped. With the Firehawk they never did (correct me if I'm wrong - but I don't recall them ever adding anything). It is what it is.
