  1. Not sure where you got that number...for the Helix Floor, output impedance of the headphone out is 12 ohms. However, yes, that still means ideally you want headphones with 100ohm or more impedance. I've read a number of complaints here and on other forums of the lower-impedance Beyerdynamics sounding 'bad' with Helix, so I'm going to push back a bit on some of the other posts in this thread and say the main issue really might be the headphones themselves, in your case. I can say for certain my Senn HD600 sound fantastic plugged straight into Helix, and have seen a number of others say the same on another forum. It's not cheap, but a safe bet if you want new headphones anyway. A poster here a few months ago, the last time this topic came up, bought the high impedance version of the Beyerdynamic phones, and they reported back and said they worked great.

  2. Make sure you are selecting the stereo version of each effect. Plug the L and R output of HX Effects into your Big Sky, then L and R out of the Big Sky into each amp. For some effects, turning up the spread parameter will help with stereo sounds.

  3. The moment you put on headphones you are removing two things.... The sound of the room The distance (air) between you and the speaker(s) Don't underestimate the impact of either of those.

  4. No it isn't a new discussion... there's virtually no topic that hasn't already been discussed ad nauseum around here, lol. But 99.97% of it boils down to personal preference. Perception is fickle, weird, mostly without a concrete explanation, and nearly impossible to duplicate from one person to the next. Nobody's "right", and there's no universal truth to be found. You'll either like an individual pair of headphones (or monitors, whatever), or you won't...and that's fine. But don't bother fixating on any one individual spec as a magic bullet...none of this stuff works that way. You could go out and spend $2K on some boutique mahogany shell 300 ohm headphones, hand crafted for the Sultan of Brunei, and end up hating them. My AKG 701's are all of 55 ohms, and I love the way they sound. All you can do is try stuff and see what you like. Plus, if the same cans sound good through an interface but lousy directly from the Helix (or vice versa), or they sound great for 11 minutes every other Tuesday, then it's hard to blame the headphones... they're not changing from minute to the next. which means something else is going on.

  5. I really don´t get it. The "too much gain-phenomenon" no longer occurred the last days. Did the software reinstall help delayed?! I tried to summon the the disorder to get an information afer which time it happens...but nothing. I keep and use my stomp and don´t send it to the service center until it happens again. My dealer gives a bonus year of warranty, so in total I have three years. That's pretty nice and no need to hurry.

  6. Every time you change the output device, your tone is gonna change... and often that difference will be significant. Headphones and studio monitors are fundamentally different. Proximity is also part of the problem... if you dial in a sound with your monitors and then switch to headphones, the high end will always seem more prominent because they're right on top of your ears. High end frequencies diffuse quickly when there's a big air gap between your head and a pair of monitors, they get absorbed by lots of things in the environment the farther you get from the source... but if you stick your head right next to those same speakers, you'll hear unpleasant fizzy high end that way too. Unless you want to be in a constant state of tweaking back and forth, the only real solution is to tailor your patches for the output you intend to use... it means keeping different set lists for different scenarios. There no way around the initial grunt work.

  7. So here's my at-home repair. DO NOT DO THIS IF YOUR HELIX IS UNDER WARRANTY. Due to various snafus I didn’t get my hands on the replacement pot and knob until late June. If you’re ordering from Full Compass, these are the parts, AND DON’T LET ANYONE TELL YOU DIFFERENT: https://www.fullcompass.com/prod/538498-line-6-01-49-0027-helix-dual-10ka-15mm-pot https://www.fullcompass.com/prod/525521-line-6-30-45-0054-phones-knob-for-helix Opened up the Helix again to see how involved this repair would be. The good news was the pot was mounted on a separate small PCB, making it easily accessible. You can see it poking out below. Seemed pretty doable: You have to desolder the 2 tabs at the bottom and the 6 pins in the middle: Got everything set up... ...just 2 pins left... ...and off: New pot soldered on: Putting everything back together. I use a strip of packing tape to keep all the nuts and screws organized: PCB remounted: End caps and expression pedal back on: Back in business: Much better now:

  8. Hi Cristt, When set to pre-cab/IR; this feature is beneficial when the user doesn't have an amp with an effects loop and works well when setting the amp to its cleanest setting. If you do have an 'effects loop/power-amp in' then I recommend sending the AMP OUT signal to this input. When doing either the above, you can also switch out the complete amp model in the preset to just the Pre-Amp so you don't add any 'color' of the modeled power amp to your traditional amp.

  9. Hi, here we are at May 2020 with still no update... I've been trying to get my UX2 to work for MONTHS with my Mac Catalina OS... Usually I download Line 6 monkey and bam no problem but its unfortunate that we can't even download it because its not 64-bit. I miss using my tones and presets and especially with us all being in quarantine, I've been dying to record some stuff. I love some of these tones and fx, but it is rather difficult when nothing is being done about this. This is my comment, and only commenting on this because has anyone received any updates or know how to get the UX2 and Podfarm 2.5 to work on Catalina OS... what are some alternate options...?

  10. I recently started using the Sennheiser wireless headphones. I use the Helix as a playback device for my laptop PC via USB so I can also hear and play along with any click, loop, or demo tracks for the songs in our set list for a respective event. Since I also run my guitars into the Helix via a Relay 50 wireless, I'm completely untethered, enabling me to stand and practice while the Helix and related expression pedals are is on the floor so I can also rehearse any foot control work for a respective song. The USB connection also enables me to be connected to the Helix editor to make changes to the preset for a particular song (e.g., snapshots, controller assignments, parameter tweaks, etc.). The best part is being able to play without disturbing my family. The worst part is being so engrossed in playing that your first indication that someone wants to ask you a question is when your feel an unexpected tap on your shoulder and jump 10' into the air in initial response.
