  1. Great, you again. Haven't changed a bit, I see.

  2. Hi - I was offered a really good deal on a two-year-old Helix Floor, but I want to avoid any problems. If the original owner registered it under his account for updates and software, etc., how can I put it in my name/account? I currently have a registered Helix LT. Also, what's the warranty on the Floor? If it's longer than two years, does any of it transfer to me if I buy it? Thanks! Edited to add -- if this has been covered beffore, please share a link to the thread. I tried searching, but the search function isn't great.

  4. Ah yea, I get where you were coming from with that now. Yea, BOSS does that all the time. What they are doing, because they own the product, is taking the formula verbatim and plunking it into their floorboard devices. It's great, and works well. Definitely a simple way to get "my pedal" sound fast if you know the original pedal. Cheers

  5. Fwiw, if you use those a lot, it's not making me wonder the Helix cabs sound quite different in comparison, simply because yours contain power amp coloration, which, depending on the kind of poweramp, can be quite a thing. Pretty much the reason all dedicated IR vendors use linear solid state power amps for IR captures. I borrowed myself such a thing as well and the differences were quite noticeable, compared to, say, using a Twin poweramp for capturing (I compared the two versions, the Twin added quite some high mids).

  6. I assume you bought your unit used? Because, yes, if you did, and the original owner bought Native with the discount, then you aren’t eligible for the discount. If you are talking about that was sold to you as new from a dealer, then you would still be eligible for the discount.

  7. Don't find myself on Ganymede too often. Beating an old drum here but I still think the HX line could use some updated "Terran" HX versions(including mono) of the more basic reverbs like spring, plate, room, hall, etc.. It's just a product of the music I tend to play but I use the more conventional reverbs more frequently.

  8. This goes to show how subjective tone is... I find the legacy reverbs to be very smooth, maybe a bit too much at the default setting of the high cut (I never tried the Quadraverb, though). Some time ago I compared the legacy reverbs with my TC Hall of Fame in an effects loop. Except for the spring reverb on the HOF, which I do not like at all, I find that the HOF reverbs have very slightly more musical tails than the legacy reverbs, when set to similar level of brightness. However, the difference is very small and as I am going to downsize my pedalboard, the HOF will be the first to go.

  9. Don't forget to play around with the high cut parameter. It actually serves as a tone control, and it allows you to set how bright or dark you want the reverb tails to be.

  10. Strange, that link you posted are a list of what someone regards as the best reverbs of 2019. Surely they will all have been superseded by now. The solution to this has been mentioned many times in these forums. If you want a “shimmer verb” buy a Strymon Big Sky and stick in a Send/Return FX loop, that’s what the Send and Returns are for. Bear in mind that a box of tricks such as the Big Sky uses the equivalent of one of the Helix DSP chips to produce those reverbs. Do you think losing half of the Helix DSP power is really worth it? I actually considered buying an Eventide H9 or the Strymon just for one or two effects, until a guy pointed out an item that is a big favourite of many keyboard players. The humble Zoom MS-70CDR. It does chorus, delay and reverb and more, in fact a total of 86 effects (137 in firmware update) that can link up to 6 simultaneously, for a very low price. For the couple of extra effects that I required it is perfect, when thrown in with everything else. YMMV! Hope this helps/makes sense

  11. ahhh I did not know that I thought it was possible like the boss gt1000 has ported it’s top line reverb pedal into their flagship GT1000 so I figured it was possible for helix to do the same thank you for the info

  12. If there are reverbs added, they won’t be models of existing reverb pedals. It’s not really possible to create a component-level model of a digital reverb the way it is with an analog effect.

  13. Excellent work on those YouTube clips mate, we're coming from the same musical influences, I've been chasing tones for Def Leppard, Queensryche, Whitesnake etc so don't know how I missed those clips but will check out the downloads. Have you tried to replicate the guitar tone on the Hysteria album at all? That would be something to nail seeing as it's such a unique sound, as you probably know, they didn't use any actual real amps to record that album

  14. I just read something that I think really applies. I believe that modelling has reached a level where it really is near impossible to say empirically that one modeller is better than another. It's now kind of where amp choice has been. Some people think Marshals are the best. Some the AC30. Some Fender. None of them are better than the other. It's now more about what you like. Some people, overall, like the way one modeller over the others. Some like some of the amps one modeller does, but also like how another modeller does other amps. It's all over the place. It is to the point where you really do have to try it out for yourself. Lots of people like the way the Amplifire6 does Marshals. Others Helix. Others say ya gotta use this or that IR for it to really pop. Just get a device from a store with a 30 day, no questions asked, return policy. If you can. Other wise, I could tell you that this one sounds better than that one. Just like I could tell you a Marshal sounds better than an AC30. As we all know, that doesn't mean that would be true for you.

  15. Logic is logic my friend. You're just wanting to set me up for a game where I post something and no matter how hard I work on it you say, "I hate that." I didn't fall for those games in 3rd grade when a friend of mine preferred Caddyshack to Ghostbusters, and I'm not dumb enough to fall for it now. Find someone else to hurt on the teeter totter.

  17. Ambience provided by high quality reverbs and delays sound really great playing by yourself, and in carefully crafted song mixes. I agree that Helix could stand some improvements here. I use S-Gear and Logic plugins for back of the amp effects during recording. However I don't really consider Helix a recording platform, its not flexible enough. Helix Native is a better option, but in that case I still have lots of ambience options in my DAW. To me Helix is primarily a performance device, and in this context Helix ambience options are perfectly fine. Less is more for ambience in live performances because it can really make mud out of a live mix. Its the performance that's the focus, not the ambience. That may not be the case for solo artists, but for electric guitar in a typical band application, Helix reverbs and delays seem more than adequate.

  18. I'm just going to add this because SNAPSHOTS make sense to me without any non-guitar analogy.. Simply put, no more having to dance on the pedal board to change several parameters or turn effects on and off. Set'm up the way you need'm for each part of your tune or each "sound" you use... then just one button takes you there. 1. Picture your old non-modeling guitar rig. effects, pre-amp, effects in loop, amp... whatever you got. THIS IS A PRESET. 2. Adjust everything to play a song. Maybe distortion on, reverb on, gain channel.. Save this as SNAPSHOT 1 3. Now change all of the adjustments for another song. Maybe distortion OF, reverb off, but delay on, clean channel. Save this as SNAPSHOT 2 You can continue this to create up to 8 snapshots within this one preset. There are some additional features, but that's the meat of it. Those who never used a pedal board probably aren't wrapping their head around them as easily as those who had to learn to dance.

  19. Basically, they let you have one preset that has defferent settings for each block and allow you to change "patches" without any latency. The biggest advantage is no delay when switching sounds. You can create new presets to do the same thing but when you switch presets the helix has to unload everything from memory and reload the new preset which takes time and you will notice the delay. With snapshots you can save different verson of the same preset and recall them instantly. Example: You can create a preset that has multiple amps and multiple FX in it and then each snapshot can have a different state of the blocks or send controller changes. I have one preset now that does everything I need using snapshots. Snapshot 1 is Path A with a clean amp and reverb, Snapshot 2 is Path A with a clean amp drive pedal and reverb, Snapshot 3 is Path B with a Soldano loaded for dirty rhythm, Snapshot 4 is the same as 3 but with a dely added and a boost added for leads. Snapshot 5 is Clean with Chorus and Reverb, Snapshot 6 is Clean with a drive pedal, Tremelo, delay and reveb, Snapshot 7 is the same as Snapshot 3 but with Univibe added, Snapshop 8 Path B with Univibe (both with different intensity settings than on snapshot 7) delay with diffent feedback and mix than on the other snapshots, and another delay block on with dotted 1/8 notes. So with one button click I can now go from a lead tone with tones of FX over to a crunch tone or to a clean tone wth chorus, etc. It is like presets but there is no latency like when using presets. I had presets for each change mentioned above but It was pretty unusable live, at least for me, since the time it took to switch messed with my timing. I have many songs that go from one extreme to the next and I am the only guitarist so if the change isn't instant is sounds like you missed the change. With snapshots I don't have to worry about that now. They really are amazing. I have pretty much ditched all my presets and went down to 2 with Snapshots. The one preset is my core preset that I use with the band and I never leave it but just switch snapshots. The second one is my blues rock preset with fewer snapshots and completely different amp arrangement.

  20. Kilrahi Just curious, but do you like Hawaiian pizza? If your asking do I like crappy sound? no If I was betting, I would bet you would not post anything you have done on helix...

  21. Seriously..I think that as a Helix owner you really 'want' it to be ok...and there is good reason for that. But that said, if you dont here a difference you really should not buy an AXFX 3..just sayin..

  23. I own a helix, and thinking I need to unload it. I liked the video and sounds. I would avoid Line 6 products beware buying these. I found out today as a registered owner of Helix LT, Helix Native will cost me $399 instead of the advertised $99. I alerted Line 6 customer service and they said there is nothing they can do. My advice, don't even download the trial it will need to be uninstalled.

  24. You and everyone else that hasn't invested their identity into denying that a product they bought might have any serious downside. Yes, it's pretty common knowledge that the reverbs are less than stellar, Line6 seems to give very little lollipops about it and so a lot of users on this board, hence some of the prissy reactions. The unit is otherwise great and if you can either live with bad reverbs or pair it with a better reverb unit that's sort of your business to figure that out. I have a Fractal Axe FX 3 that I used for everything and the HX stomp that's my compact rehearsal unit, for what I need it to do it does the job but definitely record anything that needs a good quality reverb with the Axe or a plugin.
