  1. Yeah, I had to borrow a similar model to digitize a few 9.5 cm/s tapes we've recorded on a then-bandmate's Porta Two

  2. As I said in my post.... I would be speculating as to why a "few" models deviated from the 5 position as the default settings. Only the person that created the default would be able to explain this... it's even possible they are the ONLY person at Line 6 that knows why. LOL.... I have to put that word into Google every time I type it... then copy/paste the correct spelling.

  3. Alright, installed RX8 on Catalina, reinstalled Helix Native, same issue: Native AU doesn't load in RX8, Native VST does. The same with the TDR universal AU plugins. No problems loading Native AU – or TDR AU, for that matter – in Logic 10.6.1 and other hosts. That seems to confirm that it's a RX8 bug, so I'm off to Izotope support.

  4. See post above from “emongold75”. He didn’t quote you so maybe it didn’t get flagged up.

  5. The DPDT switch you have is fine. You will only need to use one side. The C common, the NC normally closed and NO normally open terminals will be identified on the switch.

  6. Not possible. You can't bend individual strings in any software, unless you're using a guitar equipped with a Hex pickup. For Helix users, the best bet quite obviously would very likely be a Variax.

  7. Hey Rectobiasi! Message me and we can go over details for the one I'm selling. I have it listed locally on Craigslist. You can look at this this listing and message me that way too. https://rochester.craigslist.org/msg/d/north-greece-line-helix-native/7253636688.html

  8. Contrary to some of the above posts, I'm actually convinced that Line6 has the most accurate modeling (both in terms of modeling process and in terms of component / system model accuracy) I say this from personal experience playing some of the actual amps (please note, I don't use FRFR, cab simulation, IR etc. and run into SS Power amp into actual guitar cab). With this setup - it is unbelievable how accurate the tone AND feel is. My experience is born out in many videos online as well. Here's a recent one - Kemper vs Fractal FM3 vs Helix vs Mooer GE 300 vs HeadRush: which is the best modeler of a SOLDANO? - YouTube I'm actually not in favor of approach that NDSP Quad Cortex is employing - i.e. using neural nets etc. This to me, is the 'easy way out' - you can make a neural net do almost anything with the right neural net architecture. Line6 (and Fractal) on the other hand do component modeling (by and large) which is physics based. In the future I do expect neural nets to become more prevalent either as the base approach or as augmentation to physics based modeling. However, I always believe that you should start with actual physics-based modeling as the foundation for a truly sound model (I believe Neural also has component modeling on the non-profiled models). Where possible, I prefer to strive to improve the physics based model as that reflects the true working of the amp before employing any other techniques to minimize the overall error. Now, the fractal does give you a more 'polished sound' (courtesy the beautiful reverbs etc. on the Fractal units)...but that doesn't mean that it's a more accurate sound in terms of amp modeling. Everyone is really close to each other now.

  9. @rd2rk Thanks for the swift response! Most of my knowledge comes from this FAQ page by SaturnWorks, relevant part quoted below: EDIT: Perhaps this is more relevant to combining two signals, and not splitting one signal. Still, I'm a bit uncertain and hoping to both learn more and make sure my rig setup takes into account these kinds of things if necessary, since it's a bit unconventional.

  10. Oh, yes, I gave up on that sort of thing after trying to rescue some old multitrack tapes that had been badly stored and had “magnetic print through” on most of them, plus they had to be baked in an oven. The last time I used Audition was a mainly to de-click and de-hiss some mid 1980s 4 track cassette tapes, but I wouldn’t want to do restoration full time. They were original recorded on one of these, which now no longer functions and is gathering dust in the corner of the studio. See pic attached. Regards.

  11. I've never had one modeler that sounded good through headphones. Maybe a better solution is to get a set of noise cancelling headphones for your wife - that would probably be easier.
