  1. Before the 3.0 firmware, I was selling my Helix Rack. After the 3.0, I kept the Rack and also grabbed a HX Stomp. Imho they perfectly know what to do to revamp the beast, and keep it in the market. The introduction of kind of granular approach (even if isn't a real granular algo), with glitches effects, shuffling loop, drift effects and a solid ambient reverb etc... means to me they are watching the entire market (not really only ODs, high gain, and rock stuff) and patching the Helix to keep it on this century. I don't remember anyone asking for those effects, they aren't really meanstream algos, but instead of just feeding the old userbase and the average Helix user, they did it - making the device ready for a even wider sound design palette (usually territory of Empress, Glou Glou, Chase Bliss etc.) . And this is why I kept my rack, and bought another HX device - instead jumping on a different brand. Just to say, let them do their job. ;)

  2. As stated above... just use the LEFT output and the presets will sum to MONO. This is also possible. Export your SETLIST Import that it into a NEW SETLIST location.... maybe name the new setlist MONO Now simply use the LEFT out and let the unit sum to mono Adjust each preset to taste while monitoring in mono....

  3. A quick fix would be to only use the left output of the Helix, either the left xlr or the left 1/4 inch. If you don't have a cable plugged into the matching right channel output, the signal is summed to mono. Good luck!

  4. Many thanks for that! Not that this had been relevant for me so far (as said, my live patches are strictly mono to start with), but it's pretty good to know just in case.

  5. As far as I know, the POD Go isn't ever directly linked to your account, the only thing with a direct link is the PG Edit on your computer. The preset files don't even contain a reference to the account, if I remember correctly. Things like license verifications are only done in PG Edit when you're adding the presets. But if you factory reset it, the presets are gone, so the new user won't be able to use the ones you bought. But again, if you wanted to let him (to increase the value of the POD Go), he still wouldn't have access to your account - only to the presets inside the POD Go at the time you delivered it. In any case, the POD Go will still be linked inside your account (assuming you registered it). But I believe the new user could still register it in his - from what I've heard there's an option to declare it as second hand, although I've never tried it. But again, he wouldn't have access to any information or purchases from your account.

  6. There is a bug where Left/Mono does not actually mix down everything into mono, and only gives you the left side. I can always replicate it on both Helixes I own. To avoid having this issue until Line 6 fixes it, do the following: 1. plug in a 1/4 inch cable into Right, and unplug 2. plug in 1/4 inch cable into Left -- you now have a mono mix. Do the same with XLR... If you can't hear it, you have not actually spent time trying to replicate this with a simple stereo ping-pong delay.

  7. There might be some FX that don't work as great in mono. For instance, some oldschool Chorusses are completely gone when mixed mono (it's because they're doing exactly the opposite on the L and R sides). Personally, I wouldn't happen to know, which ones, though - as I never play stereo in a live context, so all my patches are mono to start with (cab/IR block straight before the output makes them mono all throughout). However, a global mono switch is a pretty neat suggestion, would make much sense in case you'd like to check your patches for mono-compatibility in a stereo environment (most prominent example: through headphones).

  8. Go to the Global Settings ---------> Displays -------------> Tap Tempo flashing LED on/off This is NOT turning Tap Tempo off (you can't), but it's shutting the flashing red LED off.

  9. Well, that's something I can perfectly understand. I have a bunch of presets that start with a completely identical sound - but the things I can do within each preset are completely different. In fact, this is one of the reasons why I'd like to see a global block functionality so much. Because I actually want, say, my 3 clean presets to sound identical. I just want to take them further in different ways (assuming a single preset wouldn't be sufficient to do all the things I'd like).

  10. FWIW...I'm writing an eBook called "The Big Book of Helix Tips and Tricks" for Sweetwater Publishing. It includes pretty deep descriptions of the parameters for the more complex effects, and I've also done a lot of testing - for example, there's a frequency response graph for the three different tape speeds in Retro Reel. I've been working on the eBook for months, but I hope to get it published either end of October or early November. If nothing else, I needed to figure out what the parameters did for myself!! I think Helix is awesome, but felt I needed to know more in order to take full advantage of it.

  11. There are more ways to adjust these things than room in this forum to list them. In short as far as what the Helix controls, your amp EQ controls are your first level immediately followed by your choice in cabinets, mics and mic placements. Of course before that comes your settings on your guitar such as which pickups are being used and your volume and tone controls. 90% of your tone depends on those settings, and you have ample other EQ blocks to make any final tweaks. But if you don't have those first level EQ components correct, you can play all day with other EQ pieces and never get it right. I can only tell you that after setting up the guitar and amp/cab/ selection I'm not satisfied with the tone I'll first go back and audition different cab and mic setups till I find something I like better. From there it's just a matter of making some very minor tweaks with a parametric EQ at the end of the signal chain, or in some cases a low/high shelf block following the cabinet to adjust the levels between overall highs and lows. Most of this kind of stuff is covered very completely in Jason Sadites YouTube videos which I'd suggest you spend some time with to get a feel for how to set them up.

  12. I wouldn’t mess with CV for that application. It would be way easier and cleaner to use MIDI.

  13. There are no model packs for the Helix or the POD Go.
