It's really not something Line 6 is in charge of. HX Edit (like most installable programs) depends on a lot of underlying runtime components in the operating system that must be installed and installing those components is a matter of having administrator rights to the computer on both a PC or a Mac. It's all part and parcel of the security system of the computer which you can't bypass...for very good reasons.

my poor attempt at a bad joke...I did not see that either....I just thought about the Helix being around 40' behind an MXR....Those things were slow...SPX-90 was kinda slow too...It's all just time alignment.....gotta deal with it on everything...What has always been interesting to me about sound traveling just under 1 foot in 1ms is that 1kHz propagates to just under 1 foot in length...

Thanks - yes, checked all of the above and Input Z isn't set to auto. It's odd, it can actually change switching between preset (volume ok), analog bypass (volume ok) and then back to preset where the volume drops. Like - the process of switching between preset and analog bypass somehow changes the volume of the preset.

Here's an example of an HX Stomp preset I use for low tunings, with the Poly capo settings. The preset uses bi-amping to balance the high- and low-frequency Amp sounds. Path A handles the highs, while Path B handles the lows. Fitting all this into 8 blocks requires two amps that don’t need much processing power, and uses stereo EQ to simulate a cab (not a stock Cab). Using preamps instead of amps would have freed up more processing power. The output Mixer can pan the two Amps for stereo imaging. A stereo Simple Delay provides a stereo output that collapses acceptably to mono. However, deleting or bypassing the Simple Delay for mono-only outputs sounds slightly better. In terms of customing, deleting the Simple Delay allows using the Line 6 Electrik, Litigator, or Badonk for one of the Amps. If you remove the Compressor, now the Essex A15, both A30 Fawn Amps, Matchstick Ch2, Placater Clean, and Line 6 2204 Mod Amps become available for one of the Amps. If you also remove the pre- and post-Poly Capo EQs, several more Amps become available for one of the Amps. Your choices for the other Amp remain limited. It take some strategy to shoehorn all this stuff into HX Stomp. but it's doable. (Note: For those of you who have my book, this is described in Chapter 4 on Poly Block processing, and is LowPreset.hlx in the Free Files folder.) Hope this helps - HX Stomp can do a lot more than you might think at first.

Harmonizer, as for any other pitch tracking/detection algo, it's sensible to signal quality, strength and clarity. If you are 100% sure your guitar tone is clean (and I mean, no fret buzz, clean playing, clean phrasing, no clipping, in tune etc..) then I'd try placing some compressor before the harmonizer, and of course, harmonizer before any other effect and amp/cab. IME, if the input is clean and my playing style is clean, these effects are working pretty good and in a predictable way.

Boss SY-200 to the rescue... Can take this off my list of feature requests now. :-)

I"ve also noticed if I overwrite slots or copy/paste between setlists it will sometimes rebuild presets as well. Nothing to worry about, its just making sure all is good.

Not gonna lie, my first reaction to this was "This reads an awful lot like a sales pitch..." And maybe it is, I dunno. But I did go watch the video and then spend the $20. So if it was one, at least it was an effective one. I've been using Helix for going on 6 years and consider myself to be a fairly "advanced" user, for lack of a better term, but the book is full of revelations and insight for me. Every page makes me want to sit down and try something. I would add my part to the sales spiel by saying, (ahem) "If you are a Helix user and are at all interested in the nuts and bolts of it, this book is a no-brainer."
