  1. OK. I got a confirmation from Line 6 support that this is a bug. Well, we knew it was, but just to know we're not crazy. The new "behavior" behavior is buggy. I dowgraded to 3.11 and will upgrade when this bug is sorted out. To me, the new legacy synth sounds + a new amp are not needed. The downgrade process was very simple. I just ran the line 6 installer and selected 3.11. Cheers.

  2. It all just comes down to a matter of cost (and probably the actual physical space for another jack on the hardware). Personally, I have multiple G10 transmitters, and if I were playing a gig, I'd definitely bring more than one. Then I'd just charge them overnight or something.

  3. I use a QSC K10.2 as my personal floor monitor when playing live. I go direct to the mixer with no on stage amp and it has the full band mix coming from the mixer but customized for my specific needs. It's mounted just off the stage in a floor monitor position but sitting on a plastic open air milk crate (non solid). I find the best results just leaving it set to Live or Default since it's not really set on a floor, but I generally prefer the Default setting. I keep the gain set at about 1:00 o'clock and the input set to Line level since it's coming from the mixing board Aux output. It works perfectly for my needs and I can hear everything (including my Helix and my vocals) very clearly and in a good band mix with the rest of the instruments and vocals. I actually dial in my tones at home using a Yamaha DXR12 and need no adjustments when I go live through the QSC. I don't think the QSC has any kind of hyped high midrange at all as my monitor mix is very comparable to the main front of house mix coming out of either Yamaha DXR12 or QSC KLA12 Line Arrays. What may be happening is one of several things. First, if your dialing in your tones at home you need to give the speaker a certain amount of clearance like around 5 or 6 feet in order to not be overwhelmed by the horn or the speaker. It's takes about that much space for it to produce it's actual room tone. That's why people don't typically sit right in front of speakers like these. If you're trying to compare the tone to a traditional guitar cabinet it's going to be a problem in that the tone from a guitar cabinet changes dramatically depending on where you stand in relationship to it (toward one side or another or the direction the speaker is tilted). That doesn't happen with a modern powered speaker like the K.2 series. Once you're positioned away from close proximity you can move around the room and even turn your back to it and you'll get a pretty accurate representation of the sound because of the way they're designed to cover large spaces and audiences. You'll hear lots of people talking about high and low cuts and various EQ approaches on these types of speakers to take out the harshness, but in reality if you get the right cab/IR with an appropriate mic combination and positioning you typically don't need a lot of EQ tweeking. I generally use IRs myself just for convenience but I can get the same sounds from stock cabs, it just takes a little longer to dial them in and set them up. My most common mic combination is a R121 ribbon mic and a MD412 dynamic mic, but I also use R121's by themselves. Once you get the cab and mic situations sounding right you shouldn't need much EQ. Most of the time the only EQ I might use is a final parametric EQ with a high cut of 8 to 10 khz and a low cut of maybe 100 to 140 hz. I'll sometimes use a post amp/cab low/high shelf EQ block as demonstrated by Jason Sadites in all his various YouTube videos if I feel I need to boost or lower overall highs and lows across the whole preset. The one thing I do often adjust on single coil pickups is to slice out a small 1 or 2 db reduction in the area around 4.3 mhz on the parametric eq if I want to reduce the twanginess.

  4. Helix LT has a screen 4 times the size of HD 500 X. To me: Helix Floor is fantastic for a dark stage, or any indoor shows. I recently played a gig where they decided to have "fun" with the lights and smoke on stage. I have glowing side dots on my guitar and the Helix Floor's scribble strips saved me. But outdoors, the scribble strips are hard to read, and it's not clear if you engaged a specific snapshot or not. That's why LT's virtual scribble strips work better -- the colors are inverted and you can see if something is engaged or not.

  5. Everytime I stumble on these threads, I see a lot of overthinking. You just need a standard TS/TS cable, remove one of the two jacks, and solder a TRS jack, just leaving the ring alone. Tip to Tip, Sleeve to Sleeve. Then TRS jack goes into your pedal, and TS goes into the Helix EXP port. That's it.

  6. Check this - But, also make a special note of this comment: My Helix/HX is at version X.XX. Can I go straight to 3.15? Yes, but note that if you're starting from 2.80 or lower, the update will appear to happen twice. This is normal. Hope this helps/makes sense.

  7. I agree. The new GX100 looks quite impressive and is well priced. Up to 15 blocks inc 2 amp blocks, 150 fx, no fixed blocks, multi routing, touch colour screen and the AIRD from the GT1000. Typical Boss built like a tank construction, and with multi output settings to match different amps, FRFR, PA etc. It also has Bluetooth for controlling via phone. It doesn't have anything like the number of amp models in Pod Go but personally I think 23 AIRD guitar and bass amp models should be plenty if they are good quality. I'm just a little disappointed though that the touch screen isn't a bit bigger and that the UI doesn't look better ie pics of amps, pedals instead of faceless blocks. I think Boss slightly dropped the ball here. The Headrush is way better here and even the Zoom G11 looks a bit nicer, but the GX100 screen reportedly works well and is smooth and fast. In the UK this will initially be £499 ( but will likely be a bit lower as stores get stocks and compete), around £140 more than Pod Go at £359, so pricing is intelligently set to make it attractive if you want the features. I've not heard the GT1000 so I don't know how it compares sonically to Pod Go with the Boss AIRD modelling. Reportedly, it's supposed to give a more amp in the room feel which, if bona fide, could make it of interest for gigging players. I'm intrigued to hear one next to my Pod Go. I think it will be interesting to see whether Line 6 has any new gear up its sleeve e.g. a Pod Go mk2 or a lower priced Helix LT mk2. Pod Go only came out 2 years ago, so assuming Line 6 expect a longer shelf life for it, I think they'll now need to seriously think about adding 2 more blocks and releasing the amp block from being a fixed block. But they can't increase the Pod Go's processing power so Pod Go sales are now likely to take a hit. I don't think Zoom, Mooer, Ampero were ever regarded as a serious threat by Line 6, but Boss is a major player, are highly respected, have a reputation for quality and robustness, and have a good customer service infrastructure. So I think the GX100 could be a big threat to them not only 're Pod Go but other Helix products e.g. Helix Stomp/XL, and perhaps even Helix LT. It may not be able to do everything LT can but at only 7lbs 12oz it's smaller and a lot lighter than LT. And for folk that want dual routing, and 2 amps at once, LT is still expensive...£899 from Andertons, ie £400 more! Will certainly be interesting to see how well the GX100 does and whether it might put pressure on Line 6 to respond in some way.

  8. You can control many things with the same expression pedal. Then in each snapshot you can bypass things, or set the mix parameter of blocks to 0%. That's what I do -- in one preset I control the following things with the same EXP 2: wah, filter, vibrato, freeze, delay. The wah has auto-engagmenet when you put it past 5%. But I only use the wah in one snapshot -- in others it's mixed at 0% effectively bypassing it. I set this up before the (rather buggy) 3.15 toe down / heel down functionality. So in short, you can control many many things with the same exp pedal, it's just a matter of bypassing things / mixing things out.

  9. If you use Exp 1 for one assignment and Exp 2 for the other you can swap between them with snapshots - and should be able to set the fixed parameters where you want them. I'm assuming helix and onboard exp here, and nowhere near my gear to provide a more detailed explanation - I just know I have a patch that does something similar.

  10. There are talented folks selling/giving away presets that are very good at re-creating tones and making IRs for Helix. I think any of them could come close to duplicating the tones from a Catalyst. From my perspective, the Catalyst is a completely separate product from Helix. Its kinda like a slimmed down Helix modeler with built-in amp and cab. If I didn't already own a Stomp and a StageSource 2LT, I'd probably grab one for a good time.

  11. Sorry… there’s no ‘but’ about it. Having said that, I don’t personally have any information about it. Having said that, that’s exactly what I’d be required to say even if I did. So you’re not going to get a definitive answer. And any answer you do get is pure speculation (as BAmartin acknowledged) unless you hear it from a Line 6 employee who is either authorized to say it or is about to lose their job.

  12. Wrong forum. Nobody from Line6 Monitors this forum. This is where you go if you're serious about suggestions for changes and improvements: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/index Before posting a new idea, please search to see if it's already been proposed. If 100 people vote on the same idea presented 20 different ways, it looks like only 5 people care about it! Also, post your ideas one at a time. I for one NEVER vote for multiple combined suggestions.

  13. Hello everyone, Thought I would share a video I did on getting the Van Halen 1 album tone. I used just the Helix with no IR's and no other processing. Download the tone here: https://line6.com/customtone/tone/3254199/ Enjoy!
