  1. FIrst of all, I'd like to say thank you to everyone here that is helpful in their responses, but also those that ask questions that also prompt myself (and others) to approach things differently and explore a bit to educate yourself about rigs/blocks/effects etc. Big shout out to those who post video tutorials (Jason Sadites to name a primary one for myself, and others who just escape me at the moment). Those tutorials have helped me think about things and approach things without a guitar in my hand and allowed me to really do some neat things. Why all these words? My Stone Temple Pilots band had our first headlining show this past weekend. While the venue was, a'hem, not the grandest.....the crowd was into our setlist (after another band opened for 2 hours). All that is great....but my real satisfaction comes from programming my Helix and being happy with it, but also being efficient and well prepared for sound guys as we do not run our own sound and I dont like to let that control go away easily. HOWEVER.... While we performed great.....at the end while tearing down, I asked the sound guy (who I had already qualified as a great guy, knowledgeable, geeky like me with gear, and an overworker in his field compared to others) how my guitar sounded...and he said it sounded great. I asked what he did to help me get in the mix to file that information away when I make my next adjustments...and his response, "Dude, I didn't have to touch your guitar. I ran your guitar flat. Thats the first time I've ever run a guitar players rig flat. Anyone that has to EQ your guitar in a mix, needs to retune their PA!" I immediately put my arms in the air, and with a fist pump added a 'F*ck yeah'!! I then asked how my lead boosts were, and he said they were great. He literally had to do nothing to my guitar all night. I've never felt such satisfaction from a group of 25 presets in my playing life. 30 years, 16 of that is running direct (Boss, Line 6, Fractal). Just wanted to share as it was 2 days ago and I'm still proud of those comments. Edit: Oh, and yes....for those that say the stock cabs aren't good enough. Maybe in a studio realm they lack something a special IR does have. But my presets in this set all used 2 stock cabs in parallel.

  2. For the record – since I only just noticed – but it's there since v3.10, i.e. since April 2021:

  4. Don't confuse HX Edit with the FIRMWARE of your Helix. HX Edit is a program on your computer. It reads and interacts with Helix but is a separate entity. You CAN delete/uninstall HX Edit if you want, but in the past when the drivers have become corrupt all I did was re-install. Either way, it has nothing to do with the FIRMWARE of your Helix. You might need to worry if you were re-installing the FIRMWARE. You do not want to re-install the FIRMWARE if you have a gig coming up and the performance aspects of your Helix are OK. In the meantime, after re-installing HX Edit, if the problem recurs: 1) practice using Helix without the USB connection. IF, without the USB connection, Helix locks up, then you MAY have a problem with the FIRMWARE and you MAY have to re-install it. If that happens, DON'T PANIC! You'll first do a backup and then a Factory Reset. That often cures weird problems If that doesn't work you WILL have to re-install the FIRMWARE. DON'T PANIC! READ AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS - ALL OF THEM - EXACTLY! You should be fine. It's not a big deal unless you fail to follow the directions. 2) If re-installing HX Edit doesn't fix the problem and you have a trusted computer tech, have them test your computer's OS and especially it's USB system. You might want to do this BEFORE you attempt to re-install the FIRMWARE. 3) What's your Plan B? Combo amp and pedalboard? WHAT? YOU DON'T HAVE A PLAN B?!? DUDE! Helix is a frelling COMPUTER! ALWAYS have a backup plan!

  5. @Rikthoven... that's interesting. I agree it's very strange that a null entry would not "always" default to 0ms and could be as long as a 1/2 second in some presets. I'm not using my Helix MIDI nearly as deep as you are so I haven't encountered such behavior. When you upgraded... did you follow the full documented procedure? In particular.... Backup your Helix Update the Helix Perform a factory Reset (< this step often helps with strange issues such as this one) Restore from the backup Failing that... have you opened a support ticket with Line 6? If they are not aware of this problem already, they would likely want to know about it. Good luck.

  6. How Fast is the Average Blink? The Human Eyeblink can last up to... (somatechnology.com) 500ms is only a bit longer than it takes to blink. In most applications, most of us wouldn't notice. But I can see where it would be a real problem in your application. It would be great if you were to document this and bring it to the attention of someone in support, from where it might eventually make it to the engineering level!

  7. You can change presets while in tuner mode, but as soon as you load the new preset, you’ll exit tuner mode.

  8. I have a 6 foot long oak bench behind my desk with one PC112+ on each end connected via line6 link. Works and sounds great. Using patches to get washy stereo delays with lush reverb, it's very satisfying.. When I finally get around to rearranging my office, I'll put one on each side of my desk to get more separation
