Try inserting the Studio Tube Pre.... "Preamp > Mic > Studio Tube Pre" The "polarity" (normal / inverted) setting in that block is your phase inversion. IME, the Studio Tube Pre is extremely valuable when processing acoustic instruments. YMMV.

You need to RTM. All Helix family devices with Command Center can send MIDI Notes.

You can already do that. FS1 is dedicated to switching channels. FS2's function is FX Bypass by default, but can be changed to Boost in the app. Catalyst Edit>Global Settings (the GEAR icon in the upper right)>FS2 (FS icon)> Your choices are: Effect Bypass Boost Bypass Reverb Bypass Effect and Reverb Bypass Boost and Effect Bypass Boost and Reverb Bypass Tap Tempo To control more functions concurrently requires MIDI. If you have the Catalyst 60, to use MIDI requires a HOST (computer, dedicated HOST box/adapter).

Hello! Just wanted to verify your DAW and system for QA. I have looked at the Doom plugin and cannot reproduce what you have described. Testing the parameters I noticed with a sine wave that a higher octave is present when adjusting the octave parameter- similar to that of a proctavia, and with pink/white noise the filter seems to to be functioning as a low pass. These parameters may seem more subtle than expected but are functioning on Window 10 [AAX]Pro Tools/[VST]Cubase. Hope this helps! George

I have no idea how to use the Catealyst "MIDI CC#64 - Tap Tempo - Each press simulates a Tape Tempo button press". Do I need to send out successive MIDI messages that are timed to a BPM? That's a lousy implementation. I have a Hotone Ampero and I can program it via MIDI to correlate to a BPM value - that's what I'm asking Line6 to implement...

It doesn't answer your questions exactly, BUT - if you don't use Tap on stage, then don't program any effects to use TIME. Hard code the MS values and tap will have no effect on the delays/modulation ,etc.. When you do that - the TAP won't do anything, and it simply becomes a TUNER control. The only downside is that you still have to WAIT for the tuner to kick in :) It might seem like a bit of an inconvenience at first, but learning how to convert "time/division" into "MS Values" is extremely valuable to know. (EG: "120BPM / 1/4 note" = 500MS..... 1/8th note = 250ms, etc... etc... ). Another option... do a MIDI loopback in the device (midi cable connection between midi out & in)... then program the TUNER on/off midi values for the footswitch you want. The tuner is INSTANT using this method.

Yessir you got it... I actually hit on to it a little bit when I discovered the HD's FX SEND wasn't lighting anything up in the loop... I plugged into the 1/4" out mono side and instantly heard the effects. Oh man !!! I swear another 17 and a half hours of tweaking and I think it'll work out !!! lol The local music store here might owe you a debt of gratitude for me not throwing this amp back at them... I definitely owe you my appreciation friend !!! Hats off to you sir and Thanks for the insight.

Mostly a non-issue going forward, I expect. We spawned an entire generation that never goes outside, and can't make eye contact because their whole existence is virtual. Half of them are allergic to air, and the other half are fat and diabetic by the time they're in middle school. Bugs, dirt, and campfires are scary and "dangerous". First - I have the Catalyst 100. The ONLY difference is that the Catalyst 200 has two amps and two speakers. Otherwise, the amps are identical. I tried putting myself in your shoes. Plugged my guitar straight into the INPUT. PHYSICAL MODE switch to the LEFT (FX Loop). Everything works as expected. Open the app. Settings>FX Loop switch OFF. Everything works as expected. App Settings>FX Loop switch ON = NO SOUND. BECAUSE THERE"S NOTHING IN THE FX LOOP! If I patch the SEND to the RETURN, I get SOUND! Did you mistype? Test it again. 4cm I can't troubleshoot your HD500X configuration, as I dumped mine 6 years ago when I got my Helix. However, the actual wiring should be the same. Guitar>Multifx INPUT>MFX SEND>Catalyst INPUT>CATALYST SEND>MFX RETURN>MFX OUTPUT>CATALYST RETURN. MODE SWITCH (on the back of the Catalyst) to the left = FX LOOP APP SETTINGS>FX Loop = ON This is the correct configuration for 4cm. IIRC, the HD500X requires a Send/Return (FX Loop) Block in the signal chain just like my Helix. If you flip the MODE switch to the RIGHT (Power Amp), that gives the result you described - physical FX Loop is out of the signal chain.

The answer - for me at least - is that I live in a tiny house, and I will never really get to gig with the amp (young kids = no time!) So I don't want something that is even only a few inches / pounds bigger and heavier, not to mention $100 / £90 more expensive, for the sake of a 5 pin MIDI socket. Call it a battle of wills if you like, but it's become my personal mission to get the 6oW to work with USB MIDI, without the need for am external host. To be frank, I think it is a major ball-drop by Line 6 to make it so difficult to get the 60W to work the way we want - and if it's all about marketing and not wanting to under-sell the 100W by giving the 60W proper MIDI, then look at it this way, Line 6 - this does not make me like you any more! You could easily have used a TRS MIDI socket on the 60W if space was an issue. In the meantime I did buy an Airstep, specifically to get USB MIDI in to the 60W. And it doesn't work - BUT, and it's a big but, Airsonic have been fantastic, and are working on a firmware update for the Airstep that will make it work directly with the 60W via USB. Their customer service makes the purchase worthwhile, it's a fantastic pedal, and I get to use it with loads of other hardware I own, such as the Yamaha THR 2 (control of all patches and FX, via Bluetooth directly from the Airstep, without the need for the THR app to be open!)

There’s no right or wrong answer here. Experiment and go with whatever sounds best to you. The traditional setup would be to turn the cab sim off in your POD Go preset.

What you are hearing is the sound of one preset unloading from memory (it's sound ends abruptly) and another preset loading (it's sound starts abruptly). There's nothing wrong with your amp. If this behavior is unacceptable, buy a Helix LT or Floor and set it to "Spillover" (which uses an entire processor). Run the Helix Outs to the Catalyst Power Amp In. The Catalyst then becomes simple power amp and cab. Sounds great. Or you could get a Boss GT1000 or other device (?) that has the "spillover" function built in and either continue to use the Catalyst as a playback system or get another probably more expensive playback solution. All of the above solutions cost 2-3 times what you paid for your Catalyst. More if replacing the Catalyst as playback system. The workaround is to not change channels mid note. A quarter note rest should be sufficient unless you're a super shredder.

No, the Catalyst has a USB B port only, and those by definition are unpowered.

After playing my Catalyst 100 every day for 3 weeks, my opinion is the exact opposite on every point. Best bang for the buck of any modeling amp I've come across. It sounds like what you really want is a Spider. Or something else that doesn't actually exist. If you want a different amp, why did you buy a Catalyst? Or did you? My only complaint with the Catalyst is that you can't disable the cab sim on the XLR out. Since the 3 cab sims sound fine, and the mics actually affect the sound in a meaningful way, I can live with it. For $400, it ticks all the rest of the boxes.
