  2. Thank you very much for your kind response. I thought I had read somewhere that the Firehawk will include 50 HD amps: the same 29 HD amplifiers HD500 already has, in addition to those included in the three new model packs. "Choose from over 200 legendary amps and effects—including 50 HD models—": http://line6.com/firehawk-fx-multi-effects-pedal/ Now I can see the specs says: "29 HD Amp Models, 25 HD Effects Models" (not 50 HD amps) http://line6.com/firehawk-fx-multi-effects-pedal/specs/ But still do not understand why there´s no bass amp, if they are the same 29 HD amps models... so, the ampeg has been replaced with something else? The firehawk is not eligible to receive the new model packs in the future? If Firehawk has no bass amps, then its not for me. Anyway I'm pretty happy with the arrival of the new model pack for bass, the JC-120, the new AC-30, and all that stuff for the HD series, so I can only congratulate the whole team for a job well done, and continue patiently waiting for the exciting news that you have for us throughout the year. Although I confess I burn with desire to see how the next generation flagship units could be. I also wonder if Line 6 will want to maintain the POD brand, or move on to something else. Personally I found ideal if the POD brand were reserved for high-end units, clearly differentiated from domestic lines (amplifi, firehawk) The idea of using mobile devices for editing sounds good, but I think the bluetooth is very inefficient for this purpose. I would like to see a more reliable technology such as WIFI implemented in future PODs, but also the possibility of using the USB cable for editing with an iPad, like the Yamaha DTX app for example. Or even better, What about something like a HDMI out to use standard external PC monitors, preferably tactile models? That would be amazing. Do you think that something like this would be appropriate for a twenty-first-century technology, guys? At least it seems pretty logical to me: a floor unit without screen or a minimal one, where you add a monitor of your choice, no matter if it is a giant plasma TV, a tactile 12" monitor, or a tiny mobile device. Nice dream, but I seriously think that Line 6 should go up a notch in terms of DSP power, and add the feature of reamping (both over USB and S/PDIF I/O) although the final cost of the PODs were increased, let's say, $100 more than now. I'm sure it would be equally successful in terms of sales, and the users would greatly appreciate that increased functionality.
  3. A few questions for DI: Is the good old Variax Bass still supported in the FireHawk FX? What about older Variax guitars? If so, do you think it will be supported in the future POD HD500X successor?
  4. +1 The JC-120, the Vox AC-30 and the Fenders are my favourite real-life amps, so that vintage pack looks very appealing to me. The Bass Pack also does. However, the heavy metal amplifiers do not interest me at all, though I think the Marshall JCM we had so far were not good enough. Too bad they do not make a discount by buying only two packs.
  5. Yes, I tend to ramble often. I like it. Well, maybe the OP still does not use the amps becouse they are initially were made for guitar, using the default cab settings. Anyway, I think the HD500 can also be a great FX-only processor for bass. Its just I think of amp models as an effect to add different colors to the sound of the instrument, so it is not incompatible with using a real amp, from my point of view. I recently purchased a Roland CB-120XL, but I have not yet tried to connect the HD500, as the Roland already includes a compressor, some good amp modeling and basic effects that are plenty enough for me. In fact, I think even considering it only by the super flat channel and the compressor, this amp sounds amazing and definitely worth it.
  6. Hi, dude! In my experience after comparing the Bass POD XT and the HD500 is that the difference in sound quality was abysmal. The XT probably wore horrible converters that resulted in a dark sound and way low output volume, which made it little less than useless to record with him. I say this because initially bought the Bass XT next to my Variax Bass 705 (an excellent instrument, by the way), and when I started playing guitar I bought a second hand X3 Live, and later, a brand new HD500. I could have stayed with either of the first two for use with my bass, but there were two factors that prompted me to sell them: the software was obsolete, and I was getting very good results with the HD500. So, where is the trick to making all those guitar amps in the HD500 sound good with a bass ? The most important part is in the parameters of the cab: -Set Res Level and Thump parameters between 1 and 3 o'clock position. The same for the Decay -Low Cut at 60Hz (up to 100hz with some models) Do not worry about the frequency of root notes. If you listen a muddy bottom, do not hesitate, cut it off. There would be other things you could do: Add a compressor early in your FX chain. In the mixer block, pan both channels to the center, and raise the level from there about +5dB. Add a Mid Focus EQ after the mixer to cut the LP Freq, and you are done. Take a look to my thread: http://line6.com/support/topic/263-bass-patches-pod-hd-series/ At that time I was still using the noise gate instead of the Hard Gate in my presets, but the latter is much better, because does not suck tone. When I have time I will update that thread including new presets. By the way, I have read that Digital Igloo said something about Line 6 is working on new stuff for bass. Personally I would prefer it to be integrated into the same unit, as it was in the X3 live. Perhaps the reason why there are not many multi-effects for bass in the market is due to low sales. The fact is: Bass players only need an amplifier and a compressor. All the other is dispensable. So I hope that Line 6 does not manufacture two separate bass and guitar MFX lines, I think it would be a big mistake.
  7. Try using the Mid EQ after the mixer block with HP 5%, HP Q 50%, LP 65%, LP Q 50%, gain to 0. By removing that extreme low and high frequencies you will notice a much better tone for the guitar. I think the "full range" concept is often misunderstood in the guitar world. Those extreme sides of the spectrum do not help at all to make a guitar sound good.
  8. I have a Roland GA-212. It is a 2X12" 200W SS guitar amp with a pair of line inputs, so you can use it as a stereo powered cab. Sounds great, with the only drawback of the big size and heavy weight (though thankfully has removable casters and side handles) It is being gradually discontinued (the listed price was more than 1000$, a huge amount for what people are normally willing to pay for a SS amp, despite being Roland), and sometimes you can find it very cheap in stores like sweetwater (I paid €299 for it in Thomann, brand new) I think Line 6 must seriously consider this option: a new light-weight Flat-Response stereo powered cabs ( 2X12, 2x10, 2x8) series for modeling gear for less than 400-500$ would be awesome. Maybe there is enough professional market out there for the expensive DT hybrid amps or the very expensive Stage Source Speakers, but in my point of view they could earn a lot more by selling this option for the masses. I mean: a professional grade sound system for modellers, being not so big/heavy/expensive as the current DT or StageSource series, nor as domestic like the amplifi series. Just a good pair of FR speakers with master volume in a lightweight housing built like a tank. Is too much to ask? Do not even need to be "Full Range", just "Flat Response" so there is no need to include tweeters, except for the model for bass. And perhaps they even would get changing trends in the world of guitar and multi-effect units. I would probably buy at least one for the studio, one for the living room, and one for the bass. But since Line 6 has not given me that opportunity, I've bought to Roland the closest things they had: a pair of stereo amps (Roland GA-212 and Roland mobile cube) and the Roland CB-120XL Bass amp.
  9. I honestly think not make much sense what you want to do. The easiest and cheapest solution would be to have half POD under your amp, leaving out only the footswitches (or maybe just a row, whether it is enough for you).
  10. I used to prefer the fenders for clean sounds using my studio monitors, but since I have a Roland GA-212 (I use it as a powered cab using the stereo line inputs), the Vox AC-30 has become my favorite amp on the HD500, next to the Vetta Juice compressor and the 421 dynamic mic. For dirty sounds I can use the same amp model, adding the tube drive, the color drive, or even the RAT (classic distortion). By the way, I use the ES-335 model in the neck position 90% of the time, with my JTV-89 (1.9 firmware) But if I had to mention another model, I also like the Dr.Z Route 66 ("PhD Motorway"), from which am able to get some amazing funk tones, along with the fender stratocaster. I think with these two amps and those two guitars I already have almost everything I need, but sometimes I like to try other things. Recently I made a preset with the "Gibtone 185" I'm also really enjoying to play jazz.
  11. I'm glad that you've already got. Yes, the POD HD doesn´t transmits or receive MIDI over USB, and yes, the tempo is drifting a bit, even using a hardware device to send MIDI clock (I´m using the Boss RC-300) There is another posible/theorical way to sync tempo with Ableton, but I don´t know if the POD HD can receive tempo as a parameter, given that the MIDI implementation in the current HD series is way worse/incomplete than in previous POD series was. I think this may be the reason why they have reused the old XT/X3 modelling on the amplifi series, instead the HD modelling. Take a look at this tutorial I wrote to Sync my Boss RC-300 and Ableton Live: http://www.hispasonic.com/tutoriales/sincronizar-boss-rc-300-ableton-live/38381 My POD HD500 is the last in my MIDI daisy chain, so I´m syncing Ableton tempo to the RC-300 sending MIDI CCs, and the RC is sending its MIDI clock to the POD. I dont know if you can extract some ideas from that, but if you find something interesting, please let us know!
  12. In ableton, under preferences, MIDI Sync, MIDI Ports, I think you may need to activate the Sync button corresponding to your output MIDI device. Then, there must be a orange light flashing in the top left when you press play, meaning the MIDI Clock its being sent. Make sure you´re using the same MIDI channel or set it to "omni". Check if you´re connecting the MIDI Out from your interface, to the MIDI IN of the Pod.
  13. Some devices are sending MIDI Clock everytime, as my Boss RC-300 loopstation does. However, using a sequencer like Ableton Live!, it will start to send it as soon as the playback is triggered.
  14. Of course. It is stereo, so it´s able to record 2 mono channels. You may need to create a separate path for each input.
  15. Thanks to name my presets. In any case, I think I'll update these presets soon. I found that there are a few specific parameters that really make the difference between a bass amp and a guitar one, and in that version of the presets was not quite right.
  16. Direct link to PeterJH custom tones: http://line6.com/customtone/profile/PeterJH/ (It has taken me a while to find the link, so here I leave to you.) TY, Peter!
  17. Check out the Roland GA-212. It is being discontinued at a very good price, and it is a stereo amp, has two line inputs (a.k.a "Main In" A B ), plus two fx loops. I have one and am very happy with how it sounds with my POD HD500.
  18. HD500, Roland Octa-Capture and OS X 10.9 here. The synchrony is lost using the S/PDIF after a while, causing stuttering, or no sound at all. When that happens, I have to restart the interface (and all that implies: software, monitors, etc). Therefore, I had to use analog connections only. It's a real shame because the S/PDIF has more volume and avoid those unnecessary conversions (D/A then A/D). I have to try that, thanks! (although the fact that you can not use the HDedit at the same time really sucks) By the way, also I have problems using the HDedit and the WahWah simultaneously. After a while the program crashes, and I can not reopen it unless you restart the POD. The thing that bothers me is that the Line6 support tries to attribute this to my computers (I have 4 macs at home, plus a TI degree) instead of recognizing that there is a bug with the USB and try to fix it, so it was a waste of time and a frustrating experience contact with them.
  19. To d09153: I´m afraid there is something wrong with the file. The download must be 14-16MB, however, the file I get is about 1MB, so it can´t be unzipped. Maybe you can upload the files to a more reliable server?
  20. Hi Nordic! I have experienced a different problem, related to the S/PDIF, which is that the interface (octa-capture) loses synchronization for a moment, causing the so-called stuttering (and in some cases, turning off the sound completely) . This happens usually when I take between half an hour to an hour playing, (keeping the HD500 Edit running). It is a very big problem for me because it forces me off the equipment (audio software, monitors, etc), in order to restart the interface! Has anyone experienced something similar? I am desperate with this situation! I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the HD500 (specifically with OS X 10.9 Mavericks, or maybe the HD500 Edit) because all this does not happen if the HD500 is not connected, and I did not happen with previous versions of OS X, either.
  21. Using HD500Lister. Read the comment from "ozbadman": http://line6.com/supportarchivenew/thread/71660 Quote: 1) Download the program: https://sites.google.com/site/ozbadman22/HD500Lister.jar 2) From a cmd line prompt type: java -jar HD500Lister.jar <filename> where the filename is a bundle filename. For example: java -jar HD500Lister.jar test.h5b This will create a .CSV file which you can load into excel. It only works with the current file format so if it changes, this won't work. Ideally, Line 6 may add this capability to the HD500Edit program sometime in the future.
  22. It's all good, man. It was not my intention to enter into sterile discussions, much less bring negativity to this great forum. Peace, love, and a new firmware fixing all that fiasco these little inconveniences anytime soon, please.
  23. http://line6.com/support/topic/2866-how-many-persons-rolled-back-to-a-before-hd-version/ It´s realistic to say that a big part of users that "are happy" of the 2.0 firmware are also "line 6 experts", to which they were apparently given the task of creating positive reviews on the forums. However, it is easy to verify that the update is a complete failure on many levels; to mention a few of them: Telecaster, Stratocaster, ES-335, ES-175, all of them sound worse in 2.0. The acoustic guitars sound out of tune, the POD will not work anymore as interface for workbench, all models are out of adjustment, even including individual volume of the strings. Delay and popping noises changing models (when this did not happen before) Not to mention the bugs in the upgrade process. All this is not representing a fiasco for you? Then do not know what they should have done to make it so for you. Maybe if the JTV was disintegrated with the new firmware, or was wrapped in flames, or maybe it exploded. Okay, it do not get to that point, but for me it is enough to consider all the aforementioned to say JTV 2.0 Firmware is the biggest fiasco on the whole history of line 6. But I do not mean to be grumpy , I'm simply stating what I think is pretty obvious . And I 'm glad you 're happy. I 'm not as much as you, but I still have a small hope that someone fix this terrible mess .
