  1. WARNING FOR 2024 - Mac updates appear to brick JTV workbench and possibly affect the JTV itself. Last night upgraded security patch to my Mac - (Monterey 12.7.2) and Workbench no longer recognises my JTV basically it appears bricked! Was fine before. Managed to get workbench going on Big Sur 11.7.10 But this looks like a really big problem down the line - Be careful when upgrading and if you have any old Macs don't throw them away just use for the JTV - Can't be sure but until last night everything was fine . We need security patches & updates so don't compromise that but be aware this could be a huge issue if L6 don't support the software. Also Helix update may be implicated in this but can't tell yet as I tried connecting directly to Mac and it still thought I had an old JTV which is not the case. Anyone else found issues last night with upgrades to Macs?

  3. MY ADVICE IS WHEN YOU GET THE POD GO USE POD EDIT TO MAKE A BACKUP RIGHT AWAY AND KEEP DOING SO REGULARLY. Good news re a fix for the pedal issue. I managed to sort this out last night by. Restoring to factory settings But this means losing any edits you have done unless you had previously saved a backup. I would strongly advise making backups every time you edit the Pod otherwise you could lose a lot of work. I did re-upload the firmware but it was already up to date and had no effect. However when I reset the Pod to factory settings and then restored from backup everything functioned fine. I still don't know why the malfunction happened but I suspect the Pod thinks there is a secondary expression pedal connected even though there is not & for some reason it is frozen ??? If it keeps happening that would be a pain but it may be just one of those crashes/bugs that are difficult to pinpoint and only happens rarely. Hopefully this will work for others.
  4. I have had exactly the same problem on 2 pod Go's now - I took the first one back to the store and then the 2nd one malfunctioned in the same way the expression pedal is lit but when I switch to vol it still stays lit despite changing to volume on Pod edit and the display on the unit. It also does not change volume. I updated to latest firmware and restarted - Loaded from last back up - Nothing worked. This looks like a major fault somewhere.
  5. I have found that the edit programme often does not start if I have other programmes running so close them all down and see if theat works. I often also have to pull the power out of the Pod to restart it - There does not appear to be any logical or consistent pattern but in the end after a few tries it does work. Hope that helps
  6. I am constantly breaking my top e string (after about 12 hours playing or so) and looking at the angle from the bridge I think this is a design flaw - on no other guitar have `i had this problem n over 30 years playing - Am looking to alter the angle to put this right. I do bend strings by a tone or tone and and a half but the actual breakage rate on the variaxe is unacceptable.

Use a guitar pick to separate the halves at the circled locations....

Success - I used a knife as the pick was too thick but once the first housing is free it was pretty easy - useful knowing where they were though.

  8. Thanks for the post this makes sense to me although on a line six video the demo mentions the interaction between a variax/pod and the electric setting that doesn't seem to make sense as the Amp modelling is supposed to accurately create this - I will try it set to flat response and edit my patches with full amp models - will report back if I have sny significant findings. I did find that the 4cm (4 cable method) was cumbersome - ultimately it seems if this is the way things are going the old tube amp system could be on the way out?
  9. Has anyone worked how to get the best sound from a Pod HD500x with the L2t powered speaker - It is not obvious whether to use the full amp models or just the Pre-amps because the electric setting on the speaker emulates an electric guitar amp so logically it would seem that using the pre-amp versions in the pod not the full amp models should sound better - sorry if this is covered I could not find anything on this so far? Ps I am using a variax JTV Pod Hd500x and Sounsource L2t
