Ha, ha, ha - so that’s what you put in your Retsina (Ρετσίνα)? What goes with the Ouzo?

Lovely one with the retsina!!! Now absolutely seriously, one time that i was sailing, (i am seaman) i brought ouzo with me. I shared it with the crew (filipinos) and they put fanta orange juice. I was shocked, but they insist on me to try it, and honestly it is really a great combination. Now greeks want to kill me though !!

Man, here in Spain people here mix wine with coke, mostly cheap wines, but I've seen atrocities done to our finest Rioja and Ribera del Duero wines

That’s insane, what possesses people to do something like that?

    They have no taste.

There should be a law against that!

    Crime against wine!

That is crime indeed!!! All people should know by now that wine is better with sprite or soda, not coke!!

Would you like to tell a little more about your absurd prebuberant fantasies? Just no bleating goats near you??

Nah, goats are not my style mate, they run to fast for me :) Could tell you my fantasies, and those things i already done, but they are not relevant to helix, p.m. me if you like.

    Ingredients

1-1/2 pounds Ground Beef (93% lean or leaner)
    3/4 cup Panko bread crumbs
    3/4 cup ketchup, divided
    1/2 cup minced onion
    1 egg
    1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    2 teaspoons minced garlic
    1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
    3/4 teaspoon pepper
    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1) Heat oven to 350°F. Combine ground beef, bread crumbs, 1/2 cup ketchup, onion, egg, Worcestershire, garlic, thyme, pepper and salt in large bowl, mixing lightly but thoroughly. Shape beef into 8 x 4-inch loaf on rack in aluminum foil-lined broiler pan.

    2) Place upper oven rack in 350°F oven. Bake 45 to 55 minutes, until instant-read thermometer inserted into center registers 160°F; brush with remaining 1/4 cup ketchup during last 10 minutes, if desired. Let stand 10 minutes. Cut into slices.

What is these pounds and F' standing for???  I knew cooking was hard, but now with the hieroglyphs, i am pretty sure i will never cook.

So anyone got some recommended settings or which delays they use?

150 to 100 is slap, with feedback set to 5-10, and mix to 11 before amp.

290-300 ms, with feedback to 25-35, mix 11-12, is for lead.

If you use them after the amp, same settings, just rise the mix to arround 28-37

Molly Hatchet - cover art by Frank Frazetta, (famous for Conan the Barbarian comic book covers). Also cover art for Nazareth and Wolfmother.

That album always put me in mind of this one from several years earlier.

Still of topic - A blast from the past - It's amazing what we find to do while killing time waiting for a firmware update to go live!

Didnt know that batman was a vocalist. Nice tunes though.

For whatever reason, Sweetwater’s site seems to do this sometimes. They made it seem like the Stagesource speakers were discontinued a few months ago nd they weren’t. It just seems like they need to put some more orders in. I don’t believe there are immediate plans to discontinue the Variax Standard.

Too bad... that means no new variax gen 3 in near future :(

Hey guys ... I was just wondering if anyone has tried to bring up Axe Fx presets using free edit software and emulate to Helix? I've seen a guy named Edo Sound do a ton of good U2 sounds in packs for sale wondering if it would be possible to copy at least?

Very interested in that. Have you found a freeware to read the axe format? I want that too.

  12. Since we are on fuzz, i wonder after which fuzz face was the arbiter. Suppose to be the same with the legacy, but they are so different. And of course the legacy is more hendrix.

Yes, it's guitar-Mammoth-Helix. I get extreme feedback this way. As I said, it's setup very mild. I had it to always-on at the beginning of my pedal chain. Going into helix even a simple compressor will cause feedback. Could it be impedance?. Should I set path input impedance at 250k?. Doesn't sound like impedance would cause the feedback. I'll try it in the loop but really I wanted to leave it on all the time.

In general, would you say pedals before helix are a no-go?.

    Great help. Appreciate it!.

Yeah, better avoid the before helix stuff. I don't believe is the impedance problem for feedback though, and yes better put it at 250, or what impedance is your pedal

But general advise is put on the looper everything, even if you leave it always on.

Just a wild card, but does your pickups have covers on top,?

HI, I'm intrigued by the impedance thing.

    Couple of questions.

What happens when the pedal is not first in the chain as would be the case with the Cosmos echo?.

If you put a phisical pedal BEFORE the Helix. Does it affect impedance?. I tried an "always on" Mammoth clone just to add a bit of grit and it causes bad feedback. Wondering if it might be related.

I couldn't tell the difference in the case of the fuzz muff pi when changing impedance.

First of all you are welcome! Legacy has also some great distortions and fuzzes that are missing from the new versions (example heavy distortion).

Regarding impedance, it changes as per 1st effect on chain, no matter if it is on or off (if you set it to auto). So if you put a volume pedal first(1ohm) and a cosmos second, the impedance will remain 1 ohm, resulting in an anutural sound of the effect. (Not bad always though)

If you put your mamoth clone in the loop, the impedance changes, depending in the position you place the effect, for example guitar to heli, first block volume pedal (1ohm) second the mamoth, impedance goes to 250k (random number) IF you pedal is buffered and not true bypass. If it is true bypass, it goes 250k when on, 1 when you turn it off.

If the mamoth is after the guitar and your mamoth goes to helix, then the signal starts 250k, and by putting it to helix, you force helix to convert it, which will sound unatural (and mostly bad)

Another thing you can do, is change your impedance with snapshots, saves a lot of work like this.

Best advise, use the loopers with your effects.

I'm a very enthusiastic fuzz advocate. As such I'm fuzzy with fuzzes.

im trying real hard but I just can't get the sound of my BigMuff (USA 90's) in Helix. Triangle fuzz is very, very close but I find it lacks harmonics... there's something definitely missing in the high end. It just doesn't cut through that well. Very noticeable when it's the basis of your sound. I play 3 string CGB, so it's more thick power chords kind of thing. The real BigMuff just fills up the space a lot more.

Ive been reading about putting it in an FX loop, some say it doesn't sound right. Impedance, responding to guitar ... big issue for me.

Another thing I might try is adding some mild OD after the Triangle , see if it helps with the high end/harmonics. I tried a dual shifter to add highs before the fuzz, it sort of helped but wasn't quite right.

I obviously tried all fuzzes, and none cut through quite like my real BigMuff, I'd say they lack high end in general, they sound a bit muffled IMHO.

Did you try the legacy? It has a treble knob that will give you high end.
